i think the level 30 burg quest is down there or the giver of it that takes you to an instance.

I did infact visit the place north of Thorins Gate a few minutes ago and confirmed to see the dwarf head. Although it was very tiny actually not huge like I thought it would be and I seem to have seen 2 of them side by side/
It is in the big white blob.....there are 2 black dots for eyes and the white stuff is the beard.
I found one a while back that I thought was pretty cool. Like many of these, it's a reference from the books, specifically involving the ents. In the books, the ents have a battle saying that goes something like: "We go, we go, we go to war. To hew the stone and break the door!" Hew the stone and break the door are both fellowship manouvers, both of which involve ents.
don't know if this one was spoted yet, worker in Thornley's worksite:

Ha, nice find.
I dont know if someone else posted this but in the fellowship of the ring the book it mentions somewhere "to tired to loot.......maybe the hobbit lore chapter at start" that once the hobbits sent some archers north to fornost to help the king of arnor. When you go to do fornost, there is a quest to find hobbit bones and find their arrowheads.
One nice bit in the "We Cannot Get Out" session play instance had your character (a guard captain whose name I can't remember at the moment) making the final entries into the Book of Mazarbul. If you check the passage in LOTR, you see that the past passage was indeed written in a different hand, and it mentioned specifically some of the things you witnessed in the instance.
Gandalf is reading aloud:
When you are in the session play, two of the dwarves mentioned (Lóni and Náli, maybe?) give their lives to delay Durin's Bane, buying you time to get back to the 21st Hall. I forget what happened to Frár.Quote:
"We cannot get out. We cannot get out. They have taken the bridge and Second Hall. Frár and Lóni and Náli fell there bravely while the rest retr [...] Mazarbul. We still ho[...]g ... but hope u[...]n[...]Óin’s party went five days ago but today only four returned. The pool is up to the wall at West-gate. The Watcher in the Water took Óin--we cannot get out. The end comes soon. We hear drums, drums in the deep."
The last line is a trailing scrawl of elf-letters reads "They are coming"
Óin, of couse, you find in an unrelated instance.

I don't know if this has been posted in here before but in Goblin Town near gollum's cave there are drawings on the wall that depicts scenes in the hobbit ~~ this one is from the chapter "Out of the Frying Pan and Into the Fire" when bilbo, gandalf, and the dwarves escape the goblins by being flown away by the Eagles

a similar drawing has been spoted in Moria in the Great Delving.

That's great! I never noticed him before; I had to look it up:
Charles F. Blagrove, landlord of The Eagle and Child from 1918–1949
http://content.level3.turbine.com/si.../98/TomB03.jpg
"Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow;
Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow."
I remembered these lines from FotR and was very pleased when I first met Old Tom that he was correctly attired.

Has anyone mentions Bombadil and Goldberry? and how rediculous it was that they completely left them both out of the movies? I thought that was really really cool to start recognizing acutal lotr characters from the start. I also really liked the stone trolls. There were so many i recognized...i wish i remembered. My gf and I play together and she was always getting tired or me going oh thats just like the real story!! And id go into some 5 minute segment telling her how it went...she'd just tune out and ignore me :P. Did Aragorn really decide himself that it was time to reforge Narsil? I was reading one of the beginning quests in that chain and it mentioned "Aragorn has decided it was time to reforge Narsil, now go tell Elrond." Is that accurate?
Heehee this is a _little_ outside the main line of this thread, as this one isn't connected to the books...and it's not an easter egg, at least not an obvious or intentional one.
But...if you go to Annuminas, and find the side of one of the old half-broken, half-sunken buildings, the one at 16.7s, 70.0w...you will find the back half of an old rowboat sticking out of the side of the stone building! lol when I found it I stood there 10 minutes trying to decide what the developer was thinking as she or he put it there. :)
Alright, so I've been playing since SoA beta and I've *never* come across this before:
Questing in North Downs I came across an injured NPC. He was not a 'named' NPC, just labeled 'Ranger.' -- Rhunenlad 10.8s, 38.9w.
I was curious about the camp he was lying in so I stepped forward to check it out. Upon entering his 'aggro range,' the following occured (direct quote from the game):
Ranger says, ''The creatures are near!''
Rauta-lehmä Tracker says, ''We grind your bones to powder!''
Rauta-lehmä Fighter says, ''Rip them to bits!''
Rauta-lehmä Fighter says, ''Rip them to bits!''
Rauta-lehmä Tracker says, ''Kill the small ones!''
3-4 earth-kin baddies spawned on the hill behind him, coming down to attack my partner and I. We dispatched them and then the Ranger spoke again as he limped away:
Ranger says, ''You saved my life. For that...I thank you.''
Ranger says, ''Farewell, my brother. Travel well.''
Ranger says, ''I must return to Esteldín. May your luck be better than mine, friend. Goodbye.''
I fell in love with LoTRO again in that moment. ^_^ Now I will search every single nook and cranny for other things I've inevitably missed in the past several years.
EDIT: Triggered the event again and got some screenshots:

That has been there since open beta, EJ. Fun, isn't it? It's a feeling of panic the first time it happens.

Indeed. I wish there were more spontaneous events like this, and also more Baugarch-like spoilers roaming the world. We've become far too safe these days, being pointed by arrows from quest to quest, mindlessly gobbling up our content. Make the world dangerous again!
i don't know if this has been posted already,

this picture is in the silvertine lodes somewhere, and looks like it describes the huge battle between dwarves and orcs at moria maybe? haven't looked into it much yet.

and this one is from the hobbit. ;D when the dwarves, bilbo and gandalf get saved by those awesome eagles. it's in the dolven-view.
Those two pictures seem the same as in Gollum's Cave, where they seem to make more sense in context. Or maybe the same goblin artist ended up in Moria :-)
