Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
1. Deed system
-Some way to keep track in-game of which deeds I need in order to increase which traits. For example, if I want to increase my Will, I would like to see which traits increase Will, and then which deeds I need to complete to gain those traits, in which regions those deeds can be completed, or at what level they become available to work on.
-A deed system tutorial would be great, as this component of the game can be very confusing and/or not seem important to inexperienced players.
Auction House
-PUH-LEEEEEEEEEASE make the default auction time 48 hours instead of 4. I cannot count the amount of time I've wasted in game having to cancel and repost my auctions. I do a lot of auctioning (so maybe I should have learned my lesson by now - LOL), so this is a big pet peeve of mine.
-For the crafting items section, create a search option to only search for things appropriate to a certain profession (eg. scholar, woodworker, metalworker, etc).
-I would like an easy way to see how much each item in a group costs. For example, if 32 light hides are selling for 421 silver, how many is that per hide? Is it a better deal (per hide) than to buy the 77 light hides for 899 silver? If I want to sell my 14 light hides, how much per hide should I charge to be competitive?
2. Hobbies
-Singing, dancing (for entertainment value)
-Swimming, horse riding (for increased speed at both and increased health of horse)
-Arts such as painting (so players can create objects that others can buy and display in their homes)
-Arm wrestling (great for in dwarven taverns)
-Card games (for fun or trophies)
-Collecting
3. Festivals
-Allow instant travel from anywhere in the world to festival locations, so that it isn't such a pain to get to where the fun is taking place.
PvMP
-A tutorial would be extremely helpful! It seems like it could be such a fun side of the game, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to sell things, join groups/fights, find my way around the Ettenmoors, and "level" my creep.
Thank you for asking for our input, and taking the time to read our responses.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. I feel like the crafting system could use a bit of tinkering. The only major issue I have with it is that I wish the recipes for the final crafted item would include something of an itemized list of raw ingredients needed to make the thing. For example: Suppose a piece of medium armor requires X leather pads and Y leather braces, etc. Instead of only telling you it requires X pads and Y braces, it would be nice if it told you all in the same box exactly how many raw, untreated hides of Z type it would require to get to the end of the process. This would greatly assist in the farming process instead of having to do all the math while flipping from tab to tab trying to remember exactly how many hides you're going to need.
2. The only other issue I can think of is also related to crafting. When someone is crafting dyes, it would be pretty cool if there was a full color palette to choose from, or possibly even an input box for a hex code if you want to get technical about it. It would provide for deeper customization if you allowed people to choose their own custom colors when crafting dye, and allowed them to apply an appropriate name to the color.
For what it's worth, I'd also like to be able to talk to NPCs (quest-related, shops, etc.) while riding my mount. Don't really understand why we wouldn't be able to in the first place.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I always thought it would be really cool to be able to custom-design more things. Perhaps let us design our own cosmetic items using in-game options, or submit images for approval to become official insignias for our kinships. There are a lot of graphic designers that play LOTRO (myself included) that would no doubt love the opportunity to express their talents in the form of representing their kinship. Perhaps a signpost outside of the kinship house, or an official kinship cloak similar to what they have in Guild Wars.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. During seasonal festivals, I always feel like I'm under a ton of pressure to grind for Inn League rep. This is a big deal, considering there seems to be only one repeatable way to acquire more rep with them. I can offer two potential solutions to this: 1) It would be nice to see more Inn League quests added so that during festivals, we have more ways to boost our rep with the League. 2) Make the cross-Shire barhop available year-round. Leave the cooldown at 24 hours but make it available to be completed all year long. Or, if you wanted to be really super cool about it, combine my two suggestions by making more Inn League quests and making them available all year. :D
2. I'd like to spend more time fishing (or working on some other hobby, if you fine folks at Turbine felt so inclined to add some more :D) but I feel like there's not much incentive to do so. I'm not really compelled by the chance to mount a big fish on my wall, and it would be nice to have some other reason to grind my fishing skill. Perhaps a new guild similar in purpose to the Inn League with levels of reputation and level-appropriate rewards.
Thanks for asking us for our input. It's nice to see a dev company taking interest in what their players have to say. :)

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Give us reason to have a neighborhood. The mustering horns did away with the usefulness of gathering at the Kinhouse prior to an event. Really look into the social aspect of what makes Housing desirable.
Local crafting areas, social buffs, maybe even consignment vendors restricted to one's housing instance.
2. ABC music system. It's a grand baseline you've started here, don't just drop it. (Still looking for Viols and Fiddles).
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Dwarf tossing.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Raiding. Not enough variation once you hit 65. Scale the old ones so they're still fun and not everything is grey. Keeping it all interesting is paramount to longevity.
2.- Playing in-game music.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
Sorry but there are more than 2 that could be addressed
MOUNTS
1. Customisation - All mounts look very similar, I suggest having cosmetic and gear slots for your mount the same way that characters do.
Tailors - could make blankets, saddles and bridles for cosmetic purposes
Metalsmiths - could make horse body armour to increase a mounts armour and health. This would allow your mount to take more damage before dismounting but also have a debuff of slowing your mount down in relationship to how much armour is worn, as the counterbalance. (refer Horseback Combat)
2. Horseback Combat - At present the relationship between mounts and combat feels separate, the mounts are a slow burden you have to desummon so you can fight. This can be fixed by making it so that either:
Performing actions while mounted such as mining or combat dismounts you
Or
You can use certain combat skills while riding but any damage taken is also taken by the mount, when its health is used up you would be dismounted. This then ties in with the use of armour for mounts under customisation and allows players to choose between a fast mount with low hit points and a slow mount with high hit points for combat.
QUESTING
1. Quest Rings - need to be revamped, it is very hard to tell the difference between a ring to pickup quests and hand in, slight colour differences or animations don’t cut it. If you want to keep the ring as the quest icon at least have a tick animation appear on the ring at to identify handins or use a different icon all together. NPC selection also needs a bigger clicking area of sensitivity.
2. Quest Items - there is an inconsistency when picking up quest items from the environment when in a fellowship, from level 1 to 65.
At lower levels an item when picked up despawns and has a long respawn rate til your fellow can pick it up.
Slightly higher level it respawns quicker
Higher again it despawns so you cant see it but your fellow can still see it and pick it up
Higher again it doesn't despawn but stays visable to both of you, but you both need to pick it up
Then at level 64 we have come across only one of the fellowship has to click on it and everyone gets credit
You need to chose one system and stick with it
3. Maps - should show names of ride points when a curser is held over them, it is hard to identify places on the map, also there is often very little correlation between the names at the stable master and those on the map you are riding to, they often don’t match the flags on the map.
4. Exploit Mode - needs a big revamp, it is oversensitive and does not allow for realistic game play. If I shoot an arrow to pull a mob and I stand behind a wall or tree to break line of sight, he should come to me not go into exploit mode. I am not exploiting the game; I just do not want to melee him in the middle of the camp. Line of sight pulls are a big part of intelligent game play and exploit mode currently forces people often to run in when they should be able to bring the mobs to them.
I have even had this kick in when standing at the top of the steps and have had to run down to make the mob engage, it breaks the fluidity and choice in regards to controlling the fight. Also substantial objects such as trees, rocks and wall should be made solid and should not be able to be fired through, this then makes the landscape a viable part of the strategy of the game.
5. Identifying Mobs - hovering your curser over a mob should tell you its level and name, you shouldn’t have to select it to get information about its level. Also dead bodies should also still be able to be identified, at present when they are dead, what level they are and what they are cant be seen. This information helps develop strategies when reviewing a fight.
HOUSING
A lot has been said but houses are often no more than glorified chests, an extra map and a money sink. To make them an integral part of the game it can be fixed by:
1. Rested Buff - If you spend more than an hour resting or logged out in your house you would get a rested buff. This buff increases in increments of 1hour = 15min buff then for every 15minutes over that you get an extra 15minutes duration up 2 hours rest = 1 hour rested buff. The buff can affect morale and power regen, scalable by level. This will encourage people to use and logout in their homes
2. Ovens, Work Benches - I should have a stove to cook a pie in my home, bench to craft on in the shed, as a farmer I should be able to grow a vegetable patch out the back.
If crafting was integrated it would make housing very viable, I can understand smithing having to be at a forge, maybe Kin houses would be more suited for these or the housing estate could have one
3. Cosmetic - items, we really need a wardrobe to hang up our cometic items
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Flying - I would like to see the eagles get involved in the fight by helping us get around in the next expansion either as stable mounts or mounts for characters. Perhaps you would need to rep up with the eagles to use these.
Swimming - it would be good if you could swim and interact with objects underwater, maybe even enter secret passage ways through underwater caves, this would increase the feeling of freedom and not make rivers and lakes just pretty obstacles
Thankyou for your time

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.The LFF System is so inefficiant and clunky and its easier to spam glff than use the lff panel, Added to that revamp it would be awsome if we could do instances with chars from other servers like an autogrouping choice where it puts everyone into the instance together it would make things alot better expecially for newer players as most players are only lvling alts as well as people who dont want to sit in there chair for 2 hours finding 6 players to do an instance with and hope they have enough time to finish it
2.The Mount system is another there were so many different things in the LOTR Lore that people rode not just horses such as the eagles or the Elephants and to make travel for the higher lvl people with the gold to purches them be able to not spend so much time running to meet people expecially chars with no porting skills ie everyone but hunters
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
A faction pvp system where kinships could compete for territory's which could yeild bonus's depending on how big the area is or how long your kinship has held it and NOT in PvMP or just gold for the kinship somthing it would make for a fun end game activity for kinships to do
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1.hOBBIES as there is no real point to doing them besides for trophies for my never used kinhouse
2. Exploring as travel through out the world for high lvl characters is slow and takes for ever to get anywhere so y bother exploring i just port everywhere

1. Kinships - the concept of a kinship is so very important in LOTRO. In my kinship, many of us rarely play with people outside the kinship because we enjoy playing with each so much. But the kinship system needs to be re-vamped. The kinship houses should follow the suggestions I give below for housing. The kinship panel should be redone so that kinships can customize and add in more info about kinmembers. For instance, kin rosters should allow people to add in their alts (if they choose to) so that all kinmates can see who has what alts. Also, the kin panel could be used to post what quests/deeds/instances/skirmishes kinmates need/want to run so that others in the kin who need the same stuff can hook up with them. This could be done by clicking on a kinmates name and being taken to a new panel which shows info about that kinmate. Obviously, the kinmate would have to allow people to view and fill in whatever info they want others to see. Many other possibilities but I'm kinda going blank right now :(.
2. Housing - housing has suffered for far too long. Many people in my kinship have abandoned their houses because they see them as not worth the money to upkeep. Housing is too restrictive imo and the neighborhoods play no part in making housing better.
A great way to change this would be to make the inside of the houses into a grid or matrix system. Housing items (whether they are on the floor or walls) take up a certain number of spaces. As long as enough spaces are free, I can place an item anywhere I want.
Also, the chests should not be limited in anyway. The personal housing chests should be able to hold any in-game item. Also, it would be nice to add more available chests or allow us to upgrade our chests and make them larger. Each large house could still only have 2 chests but each chest could be highly expandable.
Finally, the neighborhoods offer a wealth of possibilities to make housing better. Neighborhoods could be customizable by its members based on 'hood members banding together and purchasing "abilities" or "capabilities" for their neighborhood that only residents can benefit from. For instance, the residents band together and construct one of many different types of Inns within their neighborhood and those who contribute are given credit in the Inn somehow (maybe usable and readable books laying around tell generic stories of contributors adventures around Middle Earth?). There should be a neighborhood bulletin board so residents can communicate with each other. You could even hold elections and vote in a home owner's association of sorts.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be? This is tough....mounted combat would be great but I'm sure we will see that in Rohan. Also, I would like to see cosmetic weapons and shields be implemented although I don't think that is a new mechanic per se.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Skirmishes - well, I guess I do have time for them but I really want to see them expanded more and more. Not just adding new skirms but expanding the system in a huge way.
2. Hobby - the hobby system is a great idea but it seems to have been put to the wayside. I would like to see a huge expansion of the hobby system to include things like horse raising/training. This system has so many possibilities but currently it is not worth the time because it is so one-dimensional.

1a) I would really like to see some work done on the in-game social options. Specifically, I would like to see a revamp of the "friends" system to accommodate the fact that everyone has like 9 characters now instead of the small number it was designed to accommodate. Two examples of how I would imagine this working: (i) combine all characters for a single account onto one line in the friends list, (ii) for characters with inactive accounts, but that we all hope come back some day, move them to a sub-list that is not constantly polling for group and location information.
1b) I really have a lot of issues with the housing system. Mostly it is due to the bound items. I have found that since I can't easily move things around, I just ignore it. Since all of the cool items are bound, there's no way to quickly rearrange (for example) wall coverings in the kinship house - instead you have to send everything back to the owners and then ask them politely to put the item where you want it (if you can figure out who the owner even is!). Two possible solutions to this: (i) make a trophy inventory bag that is available when you are in decorating mode and can store bound trophies so that you can move things around or even just leave them in there. (ii) allow people to carry bound items when in decorating mode, but any still in the inventory immediately get sent away when they leave the house area. I also want multiple arrangements (like multiple cosmetic outfits) and more storage space (maybe I can build a basement?), but those aren't stopping me from actually using the decorations.
2) I like the idea of incorporating a true tower defense mechanic into a skirmish.
3a) I'd like to spend more time doing a variety of instances and have had trouble finding people interested in doing anything besides a specific few. Not sure how to solve that one though!
3b) I want to do more things like the bar fight. I'm still very sad that I never got to do chicken ball (bring it back!!!!)

2.
1. Crafting:
A. Search function - Allow Ingredients, Component items or stats <mainly for cooking recipes such as +might> to also be criteria on the search.
B. Craft Queue - Having the ability to queue even one step past the current work in progress would be beneficial to players. The current crafting keeps a reducing count of the current work as the items are made, making it impossible to manually prep for the next step of creation. Either a queue, or a separate counter for items currently being made, would be nice.
C. Reverse Crafting - If I want to make 20 Dwarf-make Iron Armour, I could select 20, and it would first create the 20 iron chain links I would need to make, first, as long as I had the materials available, and then continue on to the armour.
2. Housing Areas:
A. Travel Locations from homesteads - I believe there should be at least a travel to the major city from where you can get a ride TO the homesteads.
B. Crafting Locations - In all of the time since kinship halls, and housing has been around, no dwarf has decided they needed a forge "closer to home", or a hobbit had the desire to have a stove nearby for their second afternoon snack? Not thinking a superior type needs to be in the housing areas, but some sort of crafting area would be nice. Doesn't need to be in for each house/kin hall, but in the district near the bank area would be realistic.

1. "Mentor" play - The few games that have offered this option have definitely gotten it right. Being able to lower my level to be able to group realistically with friends, family and kin members would be a great benefit, for those of us who have too many toons to create another. Reducing the level including reducing player skills, damage, stats, etc, to match the level of choice and stopping experience gain for the duration. Even if the levels are just in 5 level increments, it would add considerable grouping opportunities for established players to help newer players without taking away from the new players experience, or fun.

1. Hobbies are a definite, though the limited options <fishing only>, and usefulness are partial a deterrent, I still enjoy the hobby when I am chatting with friends.
2. Festivals/Special events - Always fun, when time permits, and even with the extended duration ones, I still find myself busy with everything else; crafting, leveling, assisting friends/kinship members. When I DO get time, it's generally "rush hour" for everyone else to be there as well, and that limits progression on some events.

Q1
Crafting, Smelting/Tanning etc take too long, I take a shower, wash the dishes, have a shave if I know I have to do any crafting, surely the objective of a game is to have the players eyes glued to the screen continuosly rather than periods of AFK. The Rivendell to Mirobel taxi was like this too but fortunately you gave us more relic masters.
Q2
Underwater movement/exploring, theres sunken stuff I missed in Evendim and the waterworks that Id love to check out.
Q3
I havent escaped moria yet but id like to see more of it.

Question 1:
1) Housing. So few hooks. So little point in owning a house, except as a money sink.
2) Traveling. It takes forever to get anywhere.
Question 2:
NPC Henchmen. Basically the reason I quit the game was that I couldn't do the quests I had, and couldn't do them because I couldn't solo them, nor could I find anyone willing to help me.
Question 3:
The Shire. There should be more stuff to do there for high levels. Maybe once you get the sherrif thing, have quests to do that. Maybe just randomly catch criminals or something.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. As a not hardcore player, i still fill that vault space its insufficient, specially when you try
to amass various sets of gear, you want later to mix, equip depending on the instance you run. I am not the kind of player the keeps all the trash, but useful stuff, like gear, barter coins, crafting ingredients. I have already a kin home, and a deluxe home and still i feel like there is never enough room to keep all those things in your vault. Please, reconsider giving away more space, and more shared vault spaces too, or BoA (Bind of Account) items.
2. I think crafting, needs a major revamp, or another point of view. While i can see its a fun thing to do, when you already have everything mastered. I see it pointless when you're specially running your first character, or leveling a new craft on your alter. You always end up mastering tiers that are underlevel, making that craft unuseful unless you roll a new alter which is going to get benefit from that previous crafted you worked on. Craft should be fun, productive and helpful (specially to the new player). One of the worst craftings ever could be Scholar, very fustrating i must say, tons of hours grinding, for a only a few spots in game were to grind actually compared to the other crafts, plus not really that rewarding.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I would like Turbine introduced real Racial traits, not like those we get for being human, but like for being a man of Rohan, Gondor, Etc. Not every Human(Man) its equal, on the world of Tolkien every civilization had different virtues. Where the Men of Gondor, remained the most valerous, nobles and strong warriors, the Men of Rohan where known for its supremacy at riding horses, and their calvary strength. Turbine should take these things into account, and give some real reason to choose from where we are. I bet also that this would add more in depth to the game, and roleplayers would love to see this happening.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. All the old Instaces i never happened to run like... (Helegrod, CD, Uru, Rift, etc..) You should make an scalable version for high level players, with adjusted rewards, or give people a reason to make them come back. (And i don't think the new horse that is inc on the next patch is enough for some of us to go there).
2. Riding through Moria: I see it pointless that everytime i run a new alt into Moria, i have to farm both factions with the dwarves to get my legendary and a goat to be able to ride inside. Give players, some short of transport equal to goat, i usually end up skipping Moria, and going straight into Lothlorien at 57 (as many of us does).

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
First of all i must start by saying that, as you being turbine; you guys have created the basically the first MMO that has had incredible success. Asherons Call is still the best game ever in my eyes because of its ability for you to be free. The Armour, you can dye it match sets and do all crazy things just dressing your character. There were few level restrictions in the game. You were able to raise individual stats to an insane point; no other game has ever came close to letting you do such a feat. The grid system of dodging magic spells and arrows was also amazing and the PvP.... PERFECT. you cannot play a game with better pvp due to the grid system and the fluent motions.
Basically what i am trying to say here is that you guys made the perfect MMO that lacked a story line and a quest line set up. You also added too many things to make the game easier for newer players but basically destroyed the challenge of the game. If you were to implement a grid system, with those kinds of movements in PvP and Combat with a story-line like LoTR; there would be no game to compare. I feel this game mimics a lot of what WoW has to offer and after nearly everyone in the world has played it, its kind of a buzz kill to join a new game to experience the same thing

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
What could be revamped?
1. Hunter Ports - lets see, hunters have 13 location ports and camp site port. With each new zone, hunters get a new port to try to fit into an alreay overloaded set of quickbars filled with skills, traps, potions, and food items. We could really use a single quick slot port with a drop down list (for example) to help cut down on quick bar clutter.
2. Names over player heads - I have seen names that take up my full screen due to the length of the pvp title, first name, last name, and deed title. Yes, I can turn off MY pvp title and MY deed title and MY last name - or I can turn off everything and not see who anyone is. The point is that I want to see first and last names (currently only shown with deed titles) without having the rest of those mile long names cluttering up my screen when going thru places like 21st Hall. After all, sometimes the first and last name combos are funny but the rest is just extraneous junk to some of us who turn down graphics due to slower PCs.
I agree that housing needs a revamp but that would be a third item on my list and I felt the other two needed at least one mention in here.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1) Group Finding Tools, especially for new (or returning after many years like me) players tools. Yes, I realize there is a fellowship tool in the social panel, but I have used it dozens of times and have yet to form a group from it. As well, I realize there is a GLFF channel, which seems like a great idea at first, but then you realize 99% of the players looking for groups there are looking for endgame content. Finding groups for middle level questing can be tough, and finding groups for full fellowship groups (Fornost, Evindom, lvl 50 raids, etc) can be just brutal.
2) Expanded quest log and storage. I am constantly having to remove quests from my quest log as they become gray and I move on to a new zone, but I wish I didn't have to. I'd like to finish these quests and move on, but my quest log is always full. I have a notepad of quests I have had to delete, so that if I see a LFF message for that quest, I can go back and join the group, and have them share it with me. Unfortunately, I also have to write down where I got it from and who as well, in some cases, as the level 50 raid in Misty Mountains, because someone in the group might not have the quest that I wish to complete... it's painful. I spend too much time micro-managing my limited storage. I wish I just had a big place where I could drop off stuff and get back to the fun, instead of taking the time every day to determine if want to keep stack X, I have to remove stack Y. FYI, I use ALTS for storage, I purchased the adv. pack so that I can access shared storage, and I have a deluxe house with all chests full. My friend and I, instead of joining an existing kinship, decided to form our own, MOSTLY because the three extra storage chests we get from the kinship house......
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Expanded hobbies. Fishing is fine, however I came from WOW, and had multiple toons with maxed fishing, so fishing in LOTRO is painful. I believe I got my skill up to 10, and tossed my pole in the water. I'd almost like to see some sort of lottery system, such as you can only fish five times a day, perhaps in a specific location, in which the reward would be something special... that way, I could fish a little each day, with a chance of getting something cool or valuable or fun or silly... instead of just sitting there fishing for recipe food or trophy fish for my already full house.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1) I'd like to spend more time in groups doing group oriented activities. The community in LOTRO is great, and the majority of players I have met have been great. Making it easier and/or providing incentives for players to get together a bit more would be nice. I do love soloing, and I do love the new (forget the name) blessing you get so that you can solo the epic instances now - so much fun and a great job guys!!! -- but still have the problem of finding groups for group questing/raids. The reason that I love soloing the epic quests now is that I dont have to go through the pain of trying to find 6 players to simply complete a quest or move the storyline.
2) I love browsing the AH and looking for good deals/buys, but wish we could post/bid more than 30. I also get frustrated, when posting multiple items, when the Post Item button becomes active, and you click it, and then get an error message telling us to wait longer to click the button. If the button moves from gray to active, and we click it, it should not tell us to slow down...?... It's silly.
Great job guys with the game. Five of us recently left WOW and came back to LOTRO after playing in the Open Beta and playing for about 8 months. The game is much much improved, all of us like the game much better, and are having a blast.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. LoTRO's system for user-created chat channels is crude at best. User-created channels without any tools for user moderation are the worst kind of interenet mind-pollution. [If you don't understand what I mean, try monitoring 'glff' on Elendilmir for a day.] Please take a look at the user chat channel tools in City of Heroes. That system has exactly the needed moderation options. The creator of a channel in CoH can set it to moderated or unmoderated, promote and manage moderators, silence or ban disruptive players etc.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Dance emotes for Horses
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. The only reason I don't have time for more of activity X is because I am stuck grinding activity Y. [Y is almost always something to do with Legendary Items, and X is practically everything else in the game.]

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Weapon Sets a la DDO (since this is a Turbine game, I don't think I need to describe this further)
2. The ability to mail multiple items at once. Instead of having one slot you can drag items to in the compose mail UI, have 5 or 10 slots.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Queues. These could be used for skirmishes or group content like book chapters or easy instances (where group comp doesn't matter). You would be able to join the queue from anywhere in the world and get a join dialog when enough people where queued up.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Festival content, Inn/Ale League quests.
2. Rerunning old instances - Great Barrows and Fornost were a ton of fun at level. On my to-do list is to run up an alt to try out the new and improved Garth Agarwen at level.

1. Housing - the current hook system makes it virtually impossible to make a house actually look like a home. everything is a little too disjointed.
2. Old dungeons & battles - For lower level dungeons (both fellowship and raid), it would be nice to see them scale up at intervals beginning at the original level they were designed for and up to the 65 level cap. For the actual dungeons, I would personally prefer to see them remain as dungeons with upgraded rewards at the higher tiers rather than skirmishes. I really dont want to see CD bosses and the like soloable on-level by any class. for CD in particular, anything less than 6 players is a little unrealistic, and the skirmish system, while fun, just doesnt seem to have the same feel as a dungeon.
The Aughaire battles and the Battle for Lothlorien are examples of what I would like to see transferred to the skirmish system.
Finally, while I really liked the new challenges in Garth Agarwen, I dont like that it was split into 3 separate instances with a whole bunch of trash in the early areas being in the regular game world. Ran with a few friends the other night and having other groups tagging mobs etc in this area as we were trying to complete a few quests got rather annoying. My suggestion: keep the new challenges, but change it back to having one instance for the whole area.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Of all the ideas I've seen floating around on the suggestion forums that would truly be new gameplay mechanics, I think
Hayoo's Tavern Revelry system has got to be the best. Heck, I think that particular post got him the Hall of Famer title on the forums.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Chicken play
2. PvMP (I've played on my creep a bit more but I hardly take my main Freep out due to the lack of rewards).
answers are in the quote :)

I'll cast another vote for a housing revamp.
Two changes I would suggest:
1. Remove the hooks and replace them with a system of free placement of furniture with a set of commands that allow players to move items on their x/y/z axes and rotate them, or expand the number of hooks and make them moveable
2. Add storage objects, such as closets for all those festival costumes I've acquired, and weapon racks and armor mannequins for display of all those beloved but out-levelled pieces of equipment such as my Lore-master's complete Rift armor set or my Guardian's well-used Reinforced Black Ash Hammer. Bonus points if you make these storage objects craftable!

Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mounted combat!
A number of players are anticipating that this will be added in a hypothetical Riders of Rohan expansion pack, but I thought it worth mentioning, just in case. But the changes to mounts that were implemented with Siege of Mirkwood seem to foreshadow this. I'm thinking all it needs is a way to add armor to our horses' stat set, along with commands and weaponry that can be equipped and used while mounted.

Festivals. Maybe if some of the rewards were more relevant to high-level characters, it'd be more tempting to participate...

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. HOUSING! I ran out of spaces for my housing items a long time ago and a lot of them are now taking up bank space cause I just don't want to part with them but due to the lack of spaces/restrictions they get banked. Also I am a raider and as such I value the sets I acquire from running these raids. I would like to be able to make these pieces into a display in my house so I don't have to trash them when I get (more) desperate for bank space. Running a raid for 9+ plus months you become attached to certain gear. I don't know if you noticed but space is a major factor. Add bigger houses with more chests! I will pay more gold. I need more space (in case you haven't noticed!). Heck I will even pay for a housing expansion (like I did the explorer pack to get the extra bank space which was much needed!). There are a ton of suggestions in the housing forum but these are the basics for me. More Space on everything and less restrictions :D
2. Traits - These as well as a few other systems (conjs) are stuck back in SoA. They need to be upgraded! Not only do these need to be looked at but there needs to be a quicker way to retrait. I have different traits I use for solo, moors and raid and I would like maybe a way to save trait groups or something so it's not so much of a hassle when I want to go to moors after a raid.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Leveling Resistances in PVMP. I think this would encourage more people to stay out and pvp more. If we can add to our chars in the PVP setting I think more people would be out there freep side. (this of course would not carry over to PVE).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Fishing
2. Festivals

Q1:
-- mail. Make it possible to send multiple items with one mail, or to send mail to multiple recipients, short of an entire kin mail.
-- crafting: increase the number of high-volume crafting recipes available.
Q2:
-- more diverse hobbies: fishing is fun, but others would be welcome. Hunting, collecting (e.g. insects, birds, flowers, relics, even town / settlement stamps), dancing (not as a deed).
Q3:
-- festivals.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
1. I would really like to see housing expanded specifically the freeform design.
2. The second part of housing would be to add activities and functions to the housing areas so they were visited more often.
1. Mini games that you could play in taverns would be really cool maybe board or dice games somehing outside your character
1. Raiding is my first one, I really enjoyed the rift raiding days.
2. Crafting is my other one I really like it but I don't have enough time to gather enough resources

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The rewards per instance needs reviewed. Sword Halls is the only 3man that gets much play simply because it takes far less time to get the same 3 reward coins.
2.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?There are so many good instances in SoA that dont get much use anymore. I think doing something like you have done in DDO with the epic difficulty would let you expand the endgame content without the diffulculty of creating and playtesting new maps. The biggest issue is you would need to provide barter drops for level cap rewards to draw players back to them. The ability to get symbols of celimbror for (alot) of these barter coins would be a good idea. The lvl 65 second ages will become outdated (i hope) fairly soon anyway letting people earn them with something like 300 or 500 BG coins, and giving BG coins as rewards for playing old instances at level 65 would work fine.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Basically my kin only runs SG and the two raids (DN and BG) anymore. That means we run SG a few times every day. I would like to have more level cap 6man instances without locks so there was more variety at endgame.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.Not sure if this counts as a system revisal, but I would like to see animations/meshes of characters, creatures, cloaks, weapons, horses, etc. not go through each other and look utterly unrealistic. (is "clipping" the right term?).
2.I would like to see a lot more hooded cloaks variations instead of the same basic styles (like a hood that goes over the face slightly more with a mask covering the bottom of the face for example). Hooded cloaks are a nice cosmetic appeal, but they are kind of limited.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
This is probably a waste of time, but I would love to see the combat system totally revised. Make it more "Hack n Slash" in the way that, to swing a weapon, you have to click the mouse button for every swing, no "auto-attack" unless you want to toggle it on and even have a block button used to block/parry manually with success based on timing and skills. Combat seems to automated and repetitive.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1.Make fishing more realistic, fun, and rewarding). It is an awesome idea for this kind of game!
2.More interaction with other players in whatever way it takes. "MMO" loses its meaning when nobody wants to join up with others for questing, crafting, or just plain socializing. Maybe add more to emotes too.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
1. Mounts - Perhaps its just because I'm from KY, but please give us mounts that can traverse ME at a faster pace or some ability to customize them other than the mounts everyone else has (make it faster, more manuerverable, more health, can evade attacks, etc.)
2. Housing - Currently, it doesn't seem like players spend time in their houses or each other's houses. Turn this around by making them social environments or staging areas for common instances/raids/quests. Add a summoning horn or something so you can easily invite players into your home with little time/cost. Perhaps add swift travels at discounted rates to frequented raid spots, this way it pays to be a homeowner other than the extra chest. And yeah...note the 100's of comments about the decoration improvements.
Question 2
New Gameplay Mechanic would be organized PvMP. 4v4 (or any size for that matter) matches that can be set up with friends or joined through a "quick join" for random placement. These would take place in separate arenas so as they cannot be tampered with by outside players. Having an option to spectate these matches would be interesting as well.
Question 3
1. PvMP - It always feels like I'm trying to improve my character more and more so that I'll be "fit" for the moors. Turns out I'm not in the Moors as much as I'd like to be b/c I feel like I'm never ready for it. Usually I'll break down and go anyways for a change of pace.
2. Housing - Falls low on the priority list for character advancement, thus I've barely decorated my home. Given some incentives this might change.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.
2.
I would rather see new zones or classes than revisions to any existing systems. A certain amount of continual tuning is good, but it feels like a lot of effort has been wasted already with all of the revisions to the crafting system in particular.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
A new minigame related to studying the lore of Middle-Earth. Thematically this exists already with the Bree deeds, Scholar profession, and Lore-master class, but it would be nice to see something where you actually have to spend some time and/or do something more than just click on things, and where you actually get something nice (although this could be left out and it would be a hobby like fishing). The closest thing I can think of would be a series of instances like the class quests, although not necessarily solo.
Question 3

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Expand the availality of items to trade for with moria medallions. Include lesser scrolls of delving and enpowerment. I mean after all this is where the legendary items begin.
2. Horses, so far I have only seen 2 speeds Very slow, and Fast. What happen to slow and very fast.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
A kinship voice channel, separate from the fellowship and raid chat.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. End game instances need better drops. The best part about downing the big bad dragon (or lieutenant...) is acquiring the shiny new gear he drops. It's sad that most of the best gear in the game still comes from an instance designed for classes 5 levels below the level cap.
2. Crafting - Make all professions viable. With radiance gear, Metalsmith is nigh-useless, except for tools. Weaponsmith is slow with legendary items, same with Woodworker. Scholar, Cook, and Jeweler are leagues ahead of the others. Even it out! Make some craftable weapons/armor worth using at least some of the time.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be? I guess PvP skirmishes/instances. However I have a feeling this request will be quickly tossed aside.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Barad Guldur (no one wants to raid it - the gear drops simply aren't worth the time investment, especially when 80% of the instance is dealing with really tough trash that respawns)
2. n/a

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing, housing, housing - I would love to see the hooks removed altogether. A great example of a housing system is EQII, no hooks whatsoever, just a set number of items you could place in the house. Example: For starter homes the number is 100, deluxe 200, etc.
2.Crafting - 1) More crafted house items, such as different types of beds, stoves, tables, shelves, yard items, vases, etc. As it stands, there are only a handful of housing items that can be crafted, and 2) herb gardens for farmers.
Question 2

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. I think it would be helpful to have a slightly altered vault system or the addition of a banking system whereby members of a kin can deposit funds into/from a kinship account depending on privileges and set limits. There could be additional kin storage at the vault/bank in addition to the 3 chests available in the kinhouse which could be accessed by the same methods as kin chests, either opened to all kin or to individuals. Officers could have greater access to these resources as well.
2. Call me crazy, but I still long for the day I can make a hobbit into a Champion. I'm having fun with my Race of Woman champ, but the idea of a little hobbit wading in and kicking Orc butt would be great. Shing shing!
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I think having your chosen crafting guild be more of an actual in-game guild would be intriguing. We currently have kinchat, why not have crafting guildchat? It might make life more helpful as well as interesting to some of the avid crafters and provide another social interaction opportunity between people with similar interests. I wouldn't want it to replace your kin affiliation, just add a secondary affiliation.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. So far I'm good on these unless you can convince my boss to let me play LOTRO at work. :)

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing - right now housing is very static, while in the rest of the game there is a large focus on growing and being rewarded for time put in. It'd be great to have more housing options that take effort to work up to - more furniture hooks, more rooms, etc. It'd also be great to be able to have multiple houses per account. It's just not right to have my male human chillin out in my pink painted, flowery hobbit hole. (Nothing against men in pink houses - it just doesn't match my character.) Maybe make it so toons can pick which house is their 'home', and make it rather time consuming to change so that people don't just switch it on the fly to get multiple convenient ports. Or maybe even offer a much more difficult quest/task to be able to access all your house's ports.
2. Skirmishes. I'd love to be able to customize soldiers further cosmetically and equip them with soldier gear that can improve performance. On the smaller scale, I'd LOVE if we could see the health bars of our fellowship members soldiers. Could be controlled by a setting that defaults to off, but just to be able to see when our fellow soldiers need some healing is key for healers. Otherwise I'm left tabbing through everyone to see who needs healing. Not effective.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Instances designed to help train players for playing the big instances and raids. It can be really hard making that jump when you know everyone is depending on you but you're trying to learn, and generally ends in lots of death. Further, you can hurt your reputation as a party member while you're learning. It'd be great if you could get NPCs to fill the rest of your group so you can practice, with an appropriated scaled down reward. Particularly for support classes this could help them get used to pushing their characters to their limits. Make it so the content doesn't gate any other content so you don't have to do them, it's just if you want to get practice without disappointing people.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Non-epic quests in the upper levels. Leveling goes so fast that just doing instances to get the gear I want and the epic line blows me right past a lot of the quests. And it's just not as enjoyable once it becomes super easy.
2. Raids. If you don't have a raiding Kin, it can be really hard to find a raid group. I've never once seen anyone shouting for the DG raid for a pick up group. Just switching kins is often not an option as we've developed relationships in the one we're in. Not sure this is anything Turbine can do, but it is just on my list of stuff I wish I could do but never get the chance.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. World drops/loot that are worth something--like in SOA, where we could (very, very rarely) get a Hele piece from a troll in GT, or off a Ettimoors orc. The world drops need to be at least "usable", and not total vendor trash. Same could be done from fishing....I mean heck, Gollum got the one ring while fishing.
2. Allow purple loot to be BOE so its tradeable again.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Let us hire/use soldiers in regular play. We put a ton of time into them. Up the difficulty a bit, and let us use them all the time.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Raids--I used to, but BG is just too much of a time waster. The endless respawns make it non-viable most of the time. I am not advocating lair raids like the watcher, but at least let us get fixed locks (like Rift/CD/Hele) so we can raid for 2-3 hours and then come back later that week without having to clear an hour+ of trash. The huge time committment if you don't kill a boss makes this one a problem (and the garbage loot).
2. That's it, and NO skirmishes are not good raid substitutes--although the time to run them is good.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.Make the auction house universal across all servers...theres a glut of 60-65 equipment out there and often anything below that isnt available or goes unsold. (Mail system would have to be universal as well...)
2.Raise the level cap on virtues.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Add a geocaching system. How cool would it be to know who the first person on the server to get to a certain landmark was...It would give developers a chance to show off their favorite vantage points.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1.Raiding...(Wife, kids, work, etc.)
2.Crafting items... I have a limited time to play, I really dont want to spend it watching a status bar. And whats the point if noone can buys it anyway.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. This may sound silly, but I'd really like it if there were a few slight changes to chat. Specifically - please move 'you've noticed a creature trying to move stealthily about', 'you feel as though you're being followed', 'big bad monster threatens to attack!', and other combat-related notifications OUT of the various channels they're in and INTO a new channel. Regional is a channel I use for talking to other players; I don't want to see my regional channel spammed with non-player notifications . . .
Somewhat related, I wouldn't at all mind having the option to 'silently' do some of the emotes - i.e. the animation and sound go off but there's no chat message spamming everybody . .
Did that make any sense?
2. Actually, I'm pretty pleased with all other systems except for PvMP. I guess maybe I'd like another quickslot bar? I use them for potions and food in addition to skills and it all adds up . .
I know that's not a system change, but . . really, I'm pretty happy with most things freepside.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Hmmmmm . . . .
Nope. Can't think of anything.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
Hmm. I really like some of the festival activities . . . (beer fight! :3 ) but I feel like festivals last long enough that I get to enjoy them thoroughly . . even if I miss them for the rest of the year :P Anything else that I don't spend time doing, is because it's less important to me than the things I DO spend time doing, OR because the people I'd do it with aren't online a lot. So . . . no changes, I guess.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1) Crafting. We waste alot of time running back and forth from the vault to the crafting hall, picking up and dropping off items. It would be soooo nice if the crafting panel just accounted for everything in your vault and automatically withdrew things from the vault as you crafted. fast and clean! (but probably a programing nightmare! lol)
I'd commented on other things earlier... so I'll leave it at that.
Thank you!

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing! I love my house, but I'd like it to be more customizable, and hold all the stuff I get. Right now I have to pick and choose items I've gotten, when I'd love to display all, or nearly all of them. Perhaps more hooks to start, but freeform placement would be the best. More hooks outside (at least another 2-3 please!) I want my house to look like a real home, but just a big trophy room. Take ideas from SWG and EQ2. I know performance has been sited as an issue, but the houses are all instanced right? Does it really matter if I have 400 items in my house as long as a ton of people aren't loading into my house? (I could be wrong).
2. Player Music. I would LOVE to see a UI that allows me to select the names of .abc files that I want to play, and just click play to start. Also options for synching would be cool too. I think that with a UI more people would probably use the system, and would add to the atmosphere of major hubs potentially.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
PvMP Skirmishes. I'm not big on PvP, but I think that this would add a new aspect to the game that would satisfy those that like PvP. Maybe a cross server pool for the skirmishes to ensure enough people are available if possible. Also add a new PvMP zone at some point.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Fishing
2. Player Music

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Looking for group system: ability to check multiple quests and browse online players matching one or more shared quests. + Ability to queue for an alt.
2. Inventory management: much more room + right click to transfer & sell items + sorting filter bags (cf WoW ArkInventory addon)
3. Enhance map quest tracking: 15+ instead of just 5, and automatically advertise local/nearby quests objectives even if unchecked.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Water and underwater environment and game play from boats to swimming, exploration and so.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in.
1. Group play due to lack of good LFG tool, as mostly everyone in my kin is caped at 65.
2. Housing as it's too expansive to maintain for casual gamers, lost in ghost neighborhoods and lacks free item placement, so not worth the hassle.
Thanks for asking

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing- By far, it needs a total revamp. Needs more hooks and better ways to place them in the house. One of the posts talked about having a table and not being able to place chairs around it. Also, funiture that has a function rather than just cosmetic, such as a bookcase that can hold books and scrolls, a wardrobe that can hold all those wonderful outfits we win during festivals, a spice rack for holding different cooking ingredients, a weapon rack that can take a weapon from our inventory and display it (cosmeticly) on the wall, a mannican for displaying armour the same way, etc. There are some great ideas out there from other posts. Even a slow and steady progress to increase housing over a period of updates will help keep us interested in housing.
2. Mounts- Again, a lot of great ideas out there. Making traits for mounts, like sturdy mount with more morale, or a mount that can move faster. Also, what about barding for the mounts? Barding could increase the morale but reduce the speed by x%. Cosmetic items for the mounts, instead of just the option of getting a festival mount. The skirmish soldier system for traiting a mount would be a start in the right direction.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mounted combat. Traiting the mount (see above) that allows turns a horse into a warhorse that is capable of carrying a rider into combat. Mounts would allow certain abilities to be usable while on horseback, as well as new abilities that can be traited for a mounted combat scenario (like the personal traits in a skirmish).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Raids. I just find it difficult to find enough people who are interested enough in raiding, especially the 24-man raids.
2. Festivals.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.Housing - there are never enough places to hook things, I always seem to have housing items that go on small furniture hooks and there just aren't any.
2.Dyes - scholars should be able to make a wider variety of colors.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Kinship Housing - in Asheron's Call, which was also a Turbine game, we had special housing items obtained from quests which were hooked to the kinhall -known as a mansion in AC. These items cast buffs when used. The mansion was a social hub for the kin, and that's missing in Lotro. I'd like to see the kinhall used as a social hub here, a place where kinfolk meet to discuss what they want to do and form fellowships to go do it! Perhaps having these special housing items that give buffs would encourage people to gather at their kinhalls.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. The Festivals - I always mean to take time to enjoy them but get busy with quests and raids.
2.Fishing - it's a great way to relax and unwind after questing but usually by the time Im done questing/raiding, it's time to catch up on crafting.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Answer to question 2
There needs to be a system in which the players actions have consequences on the environment and on the larger group of players. People are hard wired to need a cause larger than themselves. In the same way that a life in real life spent only chasing money and acheivements is unfillfilling, a player will be unsatisfied with only working to get the next set of armour or to the next level.
A system in which the player's contribution (to hold a bridge or solve a delima, etc) will have consequences and contribute to their team achieving a shared goal. A goal bigger than just taking more land for your team or killing more monsters.
People get the most satisfaction out of service to others. Players will get the most satisfaction out of contributing to a massive movement within the game in which they feel needed and usefull and one in which their contribution would have seen consequences in the game world around them.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Cosmetic crafting, including dyes and the way they work on things
2. The way skirmish warriors behave, especially when there's only one enemy left and they decide he's not worth fighting.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Collision. I play a Guard and I want to be able to BLOCK enemies at the gate. I know a lot would need to go into that though.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. The Festivals, I always have something to do with my characters other than go to them.
2.Big Instances like SG, life gets in the way sometimes.
Thanks again for a great game

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.Starting and in-game character customization: The ability to duplicate another character or change the look of an existing character. We need more facial features, the ability to change eye colour, skin tone, hair style, etc. Also new armour sets: cosmetic, crafted and drops with better stats - we all look alike. Along with that, bring back rare world drops. Keep teal items BOA but make purple BOE, like they used to be. More premium services such as the ability to transfer characters from one account to another for a small fee.
2. More options for kinships: kinship Calendar and especially kinship alliance. /join channel was a start, we need much more.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Random live events - chicken play in the moors was fun and so was Amarthiel's unexpected appearances. Serverwide relay quests, scavenger hunt, or race. Give each player a colour, red or blue. Then design events for blue team against red.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Chicken play - it is not that I don't have the time, but can't find anyone willing to help with escort. It would also be nice if we could have fellowship chicken play.
2. Exploration - The game is so much of a grind now, it is fun to take time out to explore just for the heck of it. On that note, please give us new locales/content ASAP! Whatever happened to the new free content every 2-3 months?

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Cosmetic clothing. Give us another slot or two.
2. Fishing: Make it so certain types of bait/lures catch certain types of fish. Make it so that fishing includes nets so that one can catch multiple fish. Make the fish zone specific. Want to catch flounder, Forochel. Catfish? The pond at Staddle. Revamp the fish cooking recipes to make fishing worth the effort to get the fish. Make salmon runs and announce it on the Worldwide Event.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The Music System - I would add 2 more instruments - Violin (fiddle) and Concertina. I would give another octave range to all instruments. I would fix the discrepancy in octaves for Theorbo and Flute. I would fix the horn beetle and clarinet hiss. I would fix the stances of the players and add movement so a band could march or ride horses as they played their instruments. I would create some means to more easily play the songs in our music folders, such as with drop down menus or a stand alongside program that runs with the game for musicians. I would give some incentive for players to learn to use the music system such as titles, virtues and marks.
2. Housing - A tavern in every housing instance that the players who own homes there can furnish with kegs and roleplay items, plus a horn to call in the patrons. Homes and Kinship Halls with no need for hooks but where items, furniture, pictures, and other things can be placed to make a house a home and not a big assembly hall with a table in the middle. Many other people in this thread have been much more descriptive about housing.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mounted combat!
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. I usually make time for what I enjoy, thus I spend lots of time on music and on creating abc files to play in game.
2. I don't spend much time at all in my house or in the housing instance but would like to have a reason to spend time there.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Kinship housing, R10. It would be great if we could purchasea full crafting area, a large yard item say, it could raise our rent a lil. superior forge, bench, study, 3 farms fields. It would make 'kin crafting days' a lot of fun.
2. Travel system, should have extended travel location with 'hop' prices included. For example if bree to 21st via inner loth for the combined fees. This would be awesome because 3 reloads in a row still equal crash, and is anoying to have to wait for all those reloads.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Fair blocking field. for example hunters cant use shields and there for cant block, but an orc bowman can?? how? or a bird block, or a warg? how? I play a guard if i take my shield off, block=na, but a spider can? Of all the monster play classes on Warleaders have a shield but yet all of them can block, how? I would like to see a new mechanic where no shield=no block for all players, mobs, monster players.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The gear system. Since mirkwood, there have been no true upgrades to regular gear (non legendary). A character that just arrived from moria (in *good* moria gear) can do anything except raid in the old gear, and never bother to upgrade. The skirmish reward gear is sub par, the rep barter gear isnt bad but its no better, the crafted gear is fairly poor even when crit, in general. A small number of quest rewards or dropped items are better. The game isnt about gear but mirkwood has felt like a giant "why bother" when it comes to seeking rewards. Apart from a jewelery piece or 2, most players look at the effort to earn a new item, look at the difference in the items (the new one might have +2 more vit or something weak) and realize its not worth the time to "seek" gear. If something drops, we roll on it and use it, but no one is saying "I really, really have to have that offhand from SH, can we run it until it drops". What we need then are teal items that are significantly better than what we have now, in some way. In the raid, that means like DN, dropping alternative teal armors that are good, and in the 3 and 6 mans, dropping strong purples or weak teals that are better than level 60 items. Noticably better than level 60 items.
2. The stealth system. I know it only applies to burgs really -- the racial stealths or warden/hunter stealths a little but mostly talking burgs here. Since SOA, stealth has been a little more broken each expansion and patch. Here are some examples:
-scripted skirmish mobs target the stealthed player anyway with inductions, for example the blood arrow goblin
- book quest, to meet up with mazog's escort in a cave, you are told to scout. What the encounter needs is combat... you have to kill a certain orc to remove an invisible wall in the instance. But thats not what it said, it said to scout and so sneaking around, we find an invisible wall and its unclear how to proceed, no matter where you step you do not get credit for scouting.
-moria and mirwood both have many, many more always aoe mobs like dragonettes, undead, etc which break stealth upon trying to approach for a suprise strike. Its ok on a boss, such as found in CD or Uru, but trash mobs that break the primary combat method of an entire class, on a regular basis, gets old.
- new skills, such as the improved posion removal, break stealth
- hips has been broken for years now --- if a mob has the player targeted, and is mid-skill, the skill hits the burg and breaks stealth anyway, as if hips never happened. There are many threads on this broken skill in the burg forum.
- many instances now have environmental aoe, such as the turtle. Is my 2.5k backstab really so potent that stealth would break the game here?
The content needs to be revised so that stealth is only broken in 3 cases: the burg hits the mob, the mob detects the burg, or the burg toggles out of stealth. Stealth should not be broken by environmental aoes however regular, skill based aoes should break stealth (for example, the typical boss frontal aoes should break it).
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I do not have any huge ideas here, but would ask for something non-combat for a change. Maybe some new hobbies, or role-playing features such as cosmetic weapon/shield. Everything has become more and more centered on combat since moria, time to back off on that a little.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Alts. I used to play 6 toons, champ, rk, burg, minst, captain, warden. Since mirkwood, I cannot stand the thought of starting ANOTHER legendary item skirmish grind. I am down to playing just my main burg, and the RK to farm marks to feed the burg scrolls. The other toons, as soon as I log in I see that my minst needs 20 empower scrolls, my champ needs 10 scrolls, a delving scroll, 2 new runes, etc. The thought of those grinds, when its taken me this long to get my burg a decent set of items (still third age though) is just ultra depressing and I don't look forward to doing it. So I no longer play the other toons. And, the burg has the advantage of some bugged third age items, which had 4 starter legacies. The other toons are going to have a far worse time of it!
2. Old books. I never did them back when you had to sit around trying to find a group, and now that they are solo, I still get a "why bother" vibe. I have seen them --- I often helped others do a book that was ahead of my own, and did not get credit because it was ahead of my current chapter. These need some high level rewards to motivate us to return to them, not gear but maybe a stack of 20 steeped potions, or mirkwood itemxp runes / relics, something useful yet consumable or minor in the grand scheme of things.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.Fishing. It gets kind of dull fter a while just sitting for about 20 seconds waiting for a random fish to bite the hook. There should be a rare chance that your hook gets caught on a rare type item. Like a torn recipe that you can take to a npc to read for you so you can then learn it. Or maybe some thick armor.
2.Housing. Alls its good for is storage. Give some kind of REASON to stay in it.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
1. PVMP skirmishs! This way, monster players could finally be OUTSIDE the ettenmoors. Maybe a shire raid. Or allying with angmarim of annuminas.
2. There should be a log that keeps track of what happens in a kinship house storage. IT could say who deposited what, and who has withdrawn what. This would really help to figure out who robs storage, if any.
3. Custom Pet Icons. Yep, player-drawn icons for their pets/heralds. And then it could be an option to have it float over the pet for the public to see.
4. Custom Skirmishes. Why not? You could add the desired music, place mobs everywhere, and...yeah. Also, the skirmish mark count system would still be the same (on-level, 1st tier, Solo would still be 100%, etc.)
5.Turn-based battle system(Could toggle to have this in options, or just the normal mob battle style, and fellowship/raid leaders would toggle this. Does not work for PVMP). I just like strategy and turn-based stuff, not that I don't care about the normal battle system. But yeah, could be cool taking turns with the skills that you have againist random mobs.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1.Fishing.
2.Festivals(after getting the horse, theres really nothing else good, in my opinion.)

1. Housing. It's nice, I like it but as others have said, so many houses feel so empty because of how few hooks there are and yet also how many different types of hooks there are which are not compatible with each other. I also find that I end up trashing housing trophies on all but my main if they're BoA since I can never remember which of my 9 alts won them and it makes it too difficult to manage otherwise.
2. Avatar animations. The more common standing, walking, and running all seem very, very wooden. I would love it if our avatars would finally relax and walk normally. Emotes all seem pretty good. Combat animations also seem pretty good but one thing I would love to see changed is to add some pitch change to the animations. I would love for my hunter to actually look down at the goblins as they fall. Or my champion to not stare fixedly into the troll's crotch as they fight. Also, it might help if they were just slightly closer to the ground. Too many times they look like they're floating a few inches off the ground.

Avatar clipping. I would love if PC and NPC avatars could not just walk through each other. It would probably be too difficult to define the entire surface of an avatar but something like a cylinder that is half the diameter of a targeting circle that could not be passed through would be wonderful.
My wife convinced me to play DDO with her whenever I need to take a break from LOTRO. The first time I bounced off an NPC I was floored, in a good way.

1. Fellowship content. Except on Saturday afternoons, by the time I find enough folks to fellow with, it's time for me to call it a night. I've only finished Vol. I on one character and between my four characters that have been through Moria, I have one piece of radiance gear because I spend more time looking for a fellowship than doing the content.
2. Housing. Again, I like it but it's so out of the way that I only tend to ever go there on my hunter. If I go there on one of my other characters, I spend too much of my gaming time for the day just running around to get to the nearest stable to return me to civilization.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
How about a 2 wheel horse drawn cart system that could be used on your farm ( housing with land to grow stuff) to carry produce to town for selling. Same cart system could be used for skins and wood collections as you ride thru the countryside.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
1. Skirmish system. This is huge and wonderful, and you guys really scored with this one, but it has a lot of undeveloped potential. I'm sure you have epic plans for the system in the future, but currently, the rewards system needs work. As much work as I know you all have put into it, the rewards vendor still seems unwieldly and awkward to get exactly what you want, and many of the items are unreasonably priced, given the time required to earn Skirmish Marks. In addition, skirmish gear is not slightly, but VASTLY inferior in quality to crafted or even quest gear. You can quest for rewards that don't have an equip level. But by the time you earn enough marks for the SKIRMISH gear, you've out-levelled it. I guess its the same conundrum you're running into with PvMP gear, though: hard to get and still not comparable to raid gear. I'll let the devs work it out.
2. The consumable items for individual classes. Shield spikes, custom traps, caltrops and stun dust, lute strings: you name it. These are so infrequently used, and I think they are a game dynamic that could really be something neat. Hunter oils and bow chants, I must exclude, because most hunters make FULL use of this system. There are no usable items for champs or captains, however... and the loremasters can only feed their bears: the raven, lynx, sabertooth, and bog-lurker must starve. I'm not saying these items need to be more powerful, but it would be nice to have SOME incentive for players to take advantage of these tricks and abilities.
Question 2
I think you guys have been doing great with combat mechanics lately: distributed damage, and reactive ablilities are really innovative. But these mechanics have been applies almost exclusively to the mobs in the game: when do we as the players get to make use of the system? When the blood dancer absorbs all damage and sends it to her party, its annoying. But what if that happened to your guardian?! Man, what a challenge! And what if the champion's AoE became less potent with the more targets he or she intends to damage? And many mobs since moria have had offensive auras (like the wargs in Warg-pens) that debuff their opponents... when can the players get an offensive aura? I understand that you might not be able to balance it, but currently we can only create static offenseive zones of damage/debuff.
Question 3
1. I love skirmishes as a group, but it is rarely done on our server. Everyone is looking for instance groups or raid groups, because that is where the rewards are. Skirmishes are loads of fun, but I can rarely find a group for social skirmishing. You can earn way more marks more quickly in a solo skirmish than you can in a group, and most of the good rewards are quite costly. So serious skirmishers go alone for rewards, and casual skirmishers can't find a group to play with for fun. I think skimishes are loads of fun, and even more fun in groups... but there isn't enough incentive to make grouping popular.
2. Crafting. Its brilliant, and you've put a lot of time into it, but some of the resources are still imalanced. I know change is difficult, and you probably get a lot of flack for it, but there are currently only four or five zones containing Khazad copper/tin, while there are upwards of fifteen zones containing Khazad iron/gold. There is a similar disparity concerning dwarf-iron/platinum versus ancient iron/ancient silver. Its time-consuming and boring to run around for hours collecting materials to craft consumable items (like tokens or scrolls), and you only end up with a handful anyways, so you have to do it again next week. My kinship is very sharing and cooperative, but its hard to ask others to volunteer their consumables for the group when you know how costly they are to produce (in time, not necessarily resources). I think the crafting system is great, but that there are currently shortages of some consumables, simply because they are now more costly to produce, or require materials that are harder to acquire. I never have enough time for crafting, and the time I set aside get sucked up in grinding.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Dyes: Currently, there is limited variety in the dyes available in the game. Also, some of the dyes available look the same when applied (e.g., olive and dark green). I recently purchased a robe (cosmetic) from an outfitter that is white (true white) with beautiful hues of green and blue on it. When I look around the world, I see banners and flags that have wonderful colors! Why can't we have access to dyes that would give us these colors. It would greatly expand our ability to customize our characters. (Also, as someone mentioned in an earlier post, being able to dye the "trim" colors in addition to the main color would add even more to our ability to customize!)
2. Scholars: I have not read all 37 pages of posts, so if someone else has mentioned this, then take my post here as an 'I second that!'. Finding scholar materials in the world is extremely difficult compared to materials for other crafts. I understand wanting to keep them near ruins.. but even most ruins don't have scholar materials available. I think more a higher drop rate from creatures or more scholar 'vases', etc. would help immensely.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Everytime I think of something from other games I've played.. you've got it covered - except see #2 below.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. skirmish or quest? skirmish or quest? skirmish or quest? Is there any way to link these together?
2. socializing: we need something that will bring people together where they can meet and greet and chat - unrelated to questing or kinships.
Thanks for taking the time to ask.. and listen!

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
1. Resizeable crafting window. All my alts are SM/K crafters. I craft, a lot. I really dislike the tiny craft window with the twitchy scroll bar. I want to be able to expand the window to see much more instead of having to scroll constantly to compare recipes and stats, look for components, find recipes, etc. Unnecessarily time consuming
2. Housing. I love my houses and their locations. But they hold next to nothing. You've read the suggestions of others, mine are the same. A big ditto for removing hooks or adding a lot more and doing away with BoA housing items. It really makes no sense at all.
Question 2
I would really like to see an aggro meter of some kind. Right now, guards yell, "Watch your aggro!" Oh really? Where would I be watching it?
I would also like to see some kind of AH history mechanic, so that it would be possible to get a range of prices items have been selling at. Or, at the very least, a history of what my items have been selling at.
Question 3
1. Raiding. Very difficult to do 12-man raids unless you are hooked up with a static group or a raiding kin.
2. Fishing. With so much grinding to do, I can't really justify time spent fishing.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. I like to explore, so I would like to see u expand the area's to explore. I enjoy going into the bree rep dungeon and the troll cave in the ND. Loved doing The Sarnur Dwarf keep. Forochel was so cool. Id like to explore Sarnur, The South Farthing or the lands south of bree. Northern Mirkwood and the Lonely Mountain. One thing that has always bugged me is that Ered Luin and the Shire is connnected through an instance gate. I like to see the land inbetween it and have it connect like all the other regions.
2. Housinng - overhall. more hooks. more rooms. a stable that i can display a mount. Weapons displays that i can put my old wepaons that i no longer use but have grown attached to. Same with Armour I want to put it on display and maybe use that as a new storage container.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Seasons. Fall Winter Summer Spring. Changes in the moon from full to just sliver. Swimming underwater. Oh and ZOMMBIE PIRATES!!
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Fishing
2. ZOMBIE PIRATES!!!

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
I have no particular opinions as to questions 1 or 3, but I have an idea for question 2:
I feel that it would add continuity and stability to the auction hall/marketplace if it were possible not only to buy for example, medium hides, but to buy stock in medium hides, or trade futures for medium hides. I'm not certain how exactly it would work best, i.e. does one buy stock in medium hides coming out of Bree as opposed to another geographical area, or does one buy stock in a specific kinship's medium hides?
One major concern of mine, and I'm open to suggestion here, is that some less worthy players with a good amount of money may purchase most of the auctions for a particular commodity thereby creating artificual scarcity to drive up the selling price of an item, and thus the price of stock in it. I believe there would need to be certain controls in place, such as minimum amounts of time between buying a commodity on the auction hall and posting an auction for some number of the same commodity.
I would love to see a market element added to the game and I think it would truly enhance and round out the crafting profession concept

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing of course. Free form decoration would be fantastic! With the ability to place many more items. Different floor plans to choose from. More reason to visit neighborhoods (e.g. resource nodes, activities, events, games, bonuses, etc...) Premium housing inside cities and other primary landscape areas.
2. The hobby system. We need more hobbies and fishing should be further expanded with more deeds, useful fish, trophys, titles, rewards, clothing, an angler's faction, quests, statistics, etc....
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be? The ability to regulate one's own leveling rate (either regulating XP gain, or choosing when to level-up).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. I wish I had more time for hanging out at Inns and other social areas to RP.
2. I'd love to spend more time doing Skirmishes, but unwanted XP gain prevents me from doing so.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The storage system. I wish there were options to automatically sort stuff in bags/vaults (say designate a bag for pots, another for LI-related stuff like XP tokens, etc). Being able to store more things would be nice too of course.
2. As has been mentioned thousands of times already, housing. Please! I'll give you cake if you improve housing :).
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Some sort of puzzle game. Perhaps to tie it into the lore, it would be along the lines of helping an elf research something. Perhaps either word-based or symbol-based puzzles would be fun.
Or perhaps mini games you could play at the kin house or inns for fun. Could be little games of skill.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Everything--RL has kept me too busy lately...

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Remove hooks and their restrictions but still maintain a limit on item #s within a house. Allow significantly more creative freedom in house decorating. Remove all "Supplier" crafting component items and create house/guild/yard craft stations for them that cost the same to operate as it did to purchase the components- BUT THESE CRAFT STATIONS ARE NOT FOR MAIN CRAFT RECIPE ITEMS! Gardens for spices, chicken coups for eggs, butcher blocks for meat, small forge plates for wire, etc. This moves crafters to homes/guild halls to make the basic component items, keeps the money sink they represent and still brings them to city's craft stations to make the final products just as they do now.
2. Mounts / movement. Add combat while mounted. Add pack mules. Add the ability to walk with your horse following beside you in wilderness areas. More mount choices including breeding purchased horses at house "stables" to raise new foals. Add levels to riding ability (outside of fighting level) to increase animations and rider options. Add carts, wagons , canoes and rafts. Make them difficult to build and maintain so everyone does not have a dozen in the bank.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Historical Skirmishes. Random spawn temporary Elf camps, such as Frodo encounters in the books, where the NPC elves recite famous songs & poems from the books the players can simply listen to, but with NPCs that also allow players to undertake legendary skirmishes from the past, such as the siege of Barad-dur, fighting alongside Gil-galad or defending at the fall of Gondolin. As the players earn "historical skirmish rankings" they can undertake bigger, more legendary skirmishes out of the history if Middle Earth, but always returning at the end to the elf camp as if it were only a dreamy elf song within the real game.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Reading books found in various places. Would particularly like to be able to take them and read them later at your leisure.
2. Craft guild activities / quests / tasks

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Needs to be useful and customizable. I like the idea of tying farming in with housing, or hobbies such as an orchard or something. Also, add in stable routes from the town square of the neighborhood to each major rep point, unlockable with Ally or Kindred rep. Cut the map cooldown to five or ten minutes. Add in a single right-click on the radar to allow a switch from one bree neighborhood to another. House additions... I'd love to see actually building a house from the start... choose one of ten basic floorplans, additions can be one of these 10 rooms, etc.
2. Kinships. Customizable titles/ranks. A bulletin board/forum as part of the kin window. Kinhouse expansion. Officer notes on players. Expanded MOTD/Announcements.
Crafting... It's third on the list, but just barely... must be more customizable... the multi-output recipes don't cut it.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mentoring (crafting wouldnt quite count, even though it needs a total overhaul).
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. PvMP, I enjoy it.. don't have enough time to do it(haven't been able to the last year or so b/c of a horrid ISP).
2. Not sure of anything else...

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Banning System - While I think that the reasons provided by our EULA for banning are appropriate, I think implementation could use some fixing, particularly when banning players that are part of a fellowship. I would fix this by putting a small delay on bans, somewhere in the ballpark of five to fifteen minutes, in which offending players are prohibited from any chat save say, fellowship, raid, and kinship (unless of course this is where the misbehavior happened, then mute them to those channels too). This delay would be accompanied by a broadcast by the banning GM to the fellowship/raid the banned player is in informing other players that they are soon to be short a fellow.
2. Radiance Medallion Exchanges - Currently players can only trade up from Moria to Lothlorien and from Lothlorien to Mirkwood at a rate of ten to one. I would like to see a diminished trade going the other direction, like one Mirkwood medallion for two Lothlorien medallions or two for three, something of that nature. As it is, to level good weapons for top level characters, repeating the three and six man instances at BG is the best way to do it, but only Moria medallions allow you purchase relics to put on them.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I would like to see a skirmish/instance join queue (similar to WoW's instance/battlegrounds system) where players can have a good chance at finding a group for instances and raids like Fornost, The Rift, and Helegrod, not to mention Moria radiance runs. I only mention this because it will afford more players more opportunities to learn how to play their classes in group settings before joining late game instances.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Leveling in groups. With exception of leveling with real life friends from time to time, and even more sparse leveling with kin mates, I have had to solo 50 out of 65 of each of my character's levels. I think more instances for lower levels could help that.
2. Freeze tag. Saving Middle Earth is hard, but there need to be more places to play fun, non-consequential games like the Bree-Fields freeze tag arena.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The Bartering System
First, there are two many tradable items that can only be exchanged at certain vendors. This is problematic because they take up space in inventory and I run out of uses for them. For example, after helping various friends run moria instances, I have an over abundance of Medallions of Moria. Sure, I could trade them in for Lothorian tokens but then what I am I going to do with all my Lothlorian tokens? What I would really like to see, is some way to trade then to alts. I like the idea that my new characters can profit from my hard work on my main. Now, I think it spoils the fun to allow just strait across trades of these endgame instance tokens so I propose this idea, allow characters to give "inheritances" to other characters on the account. These "inheritances" could have a cooldown (like guild recipes) or could be one time only gifts. The recieving character might have to achieve some goal before opening their inheritance liike, get to a certain level or have a certain number of tokens already in their possession. (On another related note, thank you so much for changing how the moria radiance is aquired. I am so glad I don't have to run every instance 20 times and still be not gaurenteed a set of pieces.)
2.The Banning System
This has been on my mind since I ran BG and our tank got banned in the middle of the second boss. This move might have been fair for him, but it was not fair to the rest of the group, none of whom where part of the issue for which he was banned. We should have gotten some kind of warning so we knew to get out of Dodge. You should change it so that if person who is about to be banned is in a group, the ban is delayed for a short period of time (30 secs or so) and the other members of the group are notified)
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mounted combat. Period. This simply must happen when Rohan is released as an area. I'm not talking about one or two instances where we have minor control over our characters while they are on horses. I want areas of regular map in which mounted combat is allowable/incouraged, new skills, upgradable horses, the works.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Housing, it is clunky and uninviting. I like the extra storage, and the discount at vendors but once I'm there, it takes forever to get back to what I was doing.
2. Mini-games like freeze-tag. This is fantastically amusing. There should be more of it.
-
Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
1. Housing needs help BAD! The hook system works with the exteriors because each house's yard is different, but indoors you need to cap the number of items allowed in each type of house and then add more hooks on a grid pattern so we can put furniture where we want instead of where everyone else put the exact same objects. Maybe clean up some of the windows and fireplace locations too; a few of them are misaligned or have support beams running through them and it looks tacky. And while you're at it, I'd love to be able to place weapons and shields in wall slots so I can have my old favorite equipment out on display.
2. Barber NPCs could offer more of the customization options that were available at character creation. I know it's less realistic, but shouldn't players being able to enjoy their characters take priority? It sucks having no option but to restart if you decide all you want is a slightly darker sun tan or for your eyes to be a brighter shade of blue.
Question 2
A campaign setup for PVMP that cycles the map being used based on which side controls the most keeps. Hold a keep for at least 20 minutes and your side scores a point; then after a week if the free peoples 'win' the map shifts from Ettenmoors to Angmar, or it shifts to North Downs if the creeps score more points. If the freeps win in the North Downs the map shifts to Forochel, and so on. Make one piece of a good teal armor set available on each map as an incentive for freeps to get out there and take the offensive.
Question 3
1. Hobbies (er, hobby?). I'd love to waste time on a fun time-waster instead of always needing to work on another level, or, worse yet, grind rep. Ugh.
2. Listening to player music. There's never a band around when you want one, and if there is, you're too busy running with your group to hang out. Maybe player music should be a new hobby that offers tangible benefits for listening (hint: think along the lines of cantinas in Star Wars Galaxies).

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. The housing hooks are an issue; we need more. With all the tons of great stuff available, we need places to put them. Most of us at 65 have an entire bank section devoted to leftover items we'd love to display.
2. Kinship Housing:
a. Message-of-the-day could use more space for information to be posted
b. Permissions option on containers
c. More container space
d. Longer list available to view members
3. Barter traded items could be expanded. For past and unused items, perhaps a way to trade them in for more relevant items. Example: Several Moria-based bartered items traded for a Mirkwood item.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
--- At this stage, perhaps a 'mentor' system that's limited to instances. There are many times when a kin-mate wants to put together a group for an book related instance, but we as a group don't want to take away from their experience of difficulty by one lone member destroying all the greys with ease. Usually it's hard to organize this for a fair experience to the first-timer.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. The Epic storyline (not Skinner-box content, but actual quests related to Tolkien's works)
2. <blank> the above is more important to me
-
Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
1. Housing! Large kins with hundreds of members have on three chest to share?! Maybe give a personal storage chest to each member. Kinda like a Kin Vault area. And how about a crafting facility for the back yard!
2. Mounts. We have some very impressive looking mounts now, but they are pretty much useless. How about something like saddle bags to let us carry extra supplies like ore and wood and such.
-
Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Adding additional Quickslots. As it is today I see that there are not enough for some characters it would be nice to be able to slot additional items into quickslots and also as part of this make some new combination keys (What I mean today you can push most any keyboard button alone or with the (CTRL, Shift, or Alt). WOuld be nice if I could use some other key to make additional quick keys (not sure which keys to use but could be useful, since I am not exactly sure if there are enough key combinations today to match upto all the quickslots plus othe stuff like the standard stuff you have provided by default.)
2. Revision to the Instances in Moria (especially the ones for the Level 58 Class quests). Dark Delving is too hard (been in there with 6 level 65s and could not even get past first boss.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Revision to the Crafting system of Explorer (Allow users to pick which craft they would lke to have with the prospecting / Forester instead of forcing them to be tailors). With the introduction of Crafting Guilds there is no reason to level up a 2nd craft on your Armourer, Armsman, Woodsman, etc. Also with the fact that there are only 7 crafts to make items for other characters and 9 character slots. Let the character choose a combination that works for them Like and Explorer that is Metalsmith/Prospector/Forestor.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Going into CD / Uru/ Moria Instances like Skumfil, Dark Delving (this one is a problem never been able to get past first boss even with 6 level 65s in the group well equipted), and the other instances in moria that are required for the level 58 class quest.
2. Cannot get enough time to do Volume II Book 2.4.7 or higher becuase there are not enough people arround wanting to do it at this time. Between my wife's and my account not one character has finished Volume II Book 6 yet. Most are stuck on 2.5.5 (maybe give some inspired greatness for Volume I books 1 thru 6. I do beleive there is no need to modify volume 2 Books 7,8 or 9.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
Housing: Instead of instancing the entire neighborhood, and having multiple different neighborhoods, instance each individual house, and make the common areas(center of town) shared by all the neighborhoods. The center of town would then become a social area, with much more activity always going on.
There are three other benefits from instancing the individual house.
1. This would allow for tailoring and expansion(adding more stories and rooms). Better yet, you pick the lot, and then build the house.
2. Everyone could pick the lot they wanted. There would be no reason not to have as many copies of the same lot, and fewer of the less desirable lots.
3. This would allow for freeform placement(even in yards)
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I would like to see Farming and Cooking become hobbies. Farming especially. I would rather have my own field, and have to plant crops that take X number of hours, days to harvest than the immediate method now.
Would like more 'events'. Weekly or monthly quests. I love the festivals, but you can only stomp so many shrews...
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in.
Cannot get a group up to finish the books (mainly stuck at 2.4.7 and 2.5.5). I love what was done with book 1. It was great getting that finished up. I would love to see it implemented in all the books, as I am mainly a solo player.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. First and for most burglars Stealth in PvE. It is too easy to be broken out of stealth by area damage. Stealth has not been a workable combat strategy since SoA. The recent improvements to the combat system have helped to make Burgs more fun to play. Still the damage boosts for stealth damage (i.e. position is everything) have cooldowns that are too long, especially since stealth can only be used with hips, or out of combat. I think it is not too much to ask that if a burglar takes the time to stealth creep-up behind a mob blow a couple of cooldowns to get a good opener, that they should be able to do excellent damage and do it as frequently as heartseeker which can be fired off at long range without setting up a fight and possibly be reset during combat and used again during the fight. The game currently forces me to run in mischief mode 90% to help mitigate adds. I want to trait Quiet Knife and sneak up behind a mob and kill him fast enough that his friend can't kill me first. If PvMP is the reason that burgs are so crippled then get rid of stealth in the moors.
2.Houses let me buy crafting areas for my house. Give me more storage in my house, possibly a closet that holds all the decorations that are not displayed at the moment so that I don't have to waste valuable vault space on housing stuff, and maybe a dresser that can hold cosmetic gear.
3. I would like to see more fellowship multi-run instances like CD and URU that would be easier for small kins or pugs to do than these large group raids that seem to be the main focus and are only used by a small group of players
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Non-Combat pets/ livestock for house and social events.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1.Not enough time for chasing radiance gear

1. Crafting - Two Words that pretty much sums up the problem with Crafting as a Whole. Tier Seven. "As Brief as possible", you guys need to revise the entire crafting system and hire someone who can work on it full time, preferably someone who can devise a more... standardized (for a lack of a better term) system that will have fairly straight lines from point A to point B in all it's (current) convolutions. IMO, the current lack of Tier Seven is the penultimate proof that no one actually heads this section of the game and only those who find time to do "something" about it does so.
2. Housing - No words needed.

None really. If asked 2 years ago, I would say Raids. Tho I was able to participate, I did want to do so More but time constraints simply were too much. Now, Post MoM/Post Rift RADing mechanics just disgusts me to even want to participate.
IF skirmish had more... diverse rewards, it may be An answer to this question, but as it is now, it's not something I actually Enjoy per se nor is something I would like to spend more time doing.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Crafting, needs a viable reason other than relics to exist in game…. Like it had in SOA, and was thrown by the wayside in MOM, and left in that state through SOM.
2. The over grind fest needs to be pared down… Character Level, LI Level, Rad Level, and Skirmish leveling. Turbine has gotten carried away with grind and forgotten story. Epic 1 had a vibrant dynamic story, Epic 2 started out fun and then took a nose dive into repetition hell, Epic 3 has proved a non story epic book (?) thus far. This has been a fun black hole in this game. The revamp would be therefore a return to the roots of lotro and the vibrant dynamic story that made SOA so fun to play.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new game play mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
If it meant a grind then NONE there are too many already. In my book grind is the antifun.
If it could be done without yet another mind numbing grind, then mounted combat is sorely lacking from the game right now. If it meant a grind though, forget it, this game has gotten so grind focused that I just could not take another one and still find this game fun to play at all.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Raiding, but since I refuse to play the rad grind game, I am locked out. There are too many grinds in this game, and this one is just one too many. Challenging story driven content is great; the current raid system lacks this, not the raid itself per se, but the grind to gain access to the raid. It has devolved into nothing more than an e-peen system.
2. Crafting, since it lost its value in game, that entire grind to gm/sm back in the day is so much wasted time. I hate an excessive grind, but I really hate a grind that gets nerfed.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. First and foremost, the housing system needs an overhaul. Rather than giving my full description of what I would like to see happen, I will simply link the thread that has, for 2 years now, been a perfect solution to making housing great (minus a few things of course)
http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=161639
2. More Quickslot bars. I am completely out of space on most of my toons. Also, I would like to see multiple "versions" of quickslot bars much like the Aion system where you can tab to different sets of quickslot bars and have different quickslot setups for different situations. (kinda tough to describe in words...)
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I would have to say mounted combat.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. I would like to enjoy being in housing neighborhoods more, but honestly they are just not enthralling enough...
2. I would like to PvP more, but all I ever hear is that it is never balanced and things are usually a joke... would be nice if that were not true.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Crafting durables at endgame. High end SM guild member armor is basically useless because of the superiority of the Moria/etc armor sets. While I think those sets should be somewhat better, they shouldn't dominate. Would be nice if all that work paid off better, and at least SOME piece that is crafted is better in some way. Yes you can make class LIs and crafted relics, but that shouldn't be all a SM armorer is good for...
2. Group finding. Would be nice if there were queues for at least the most popular instances that just made it work better for PUG formation. Would also be nice if there were an easier way to get together (ala skirmishes join anywhere mechanism), rather than making someone slog to the dungeon entrance and summon.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mentoring system.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. crafting
2. finishing up deeds (wish they could be more integrated with other things, like slayer deeds that are done in skirmishes are great, those that aren't are not so good).

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1.Skills: I like the number of skills that the average class is given, especially for the first 20-30 levels or so, but i find the lack of skills given at the later levels does test my interest in the game. why not give players a certain number of upgrade points per level, and they can use those to customise their earlier learnt skills. e.g. allow a hunter to increase bleed on BA, or have the wardens upgrade their dance of war to give more evade. just something a little extra to allow people to customise their characters.
2.Moria Runs: im just returning from a few month break, but it seems to me that the moria runs have been made harder (harder than the average level 60 can handle) but have been given better drops, to encourage the more experienced player to help the new players. however, what im seeing, is people forming all lvl 65 groups to blitz the run as fast as possible multiple times, and the people missing out are the new players. why not give a better drop rate for every player less than 61 or 62 in the group? (to encourage better players to take the lower, less experienced players) even if the end result is that there are 5 lvl 65's and one 58. thats still one lvl 58 who now knows how to do the run properly, and will probably end up running with other players his level and showing them how to run it... etc... its only a theory, but it seems logical to me.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
i honestly cant think of any realistic suggestions for this right now so i wont waste your time by just making some random suggestion up.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Hobbies: i havent really done it much because of the lack of choice. if there were 10 or so to choose from, each giving unique titles, items, maybe new consumables as rewards that are actually useful? i would be much more tempted to take the time to do it. i know that would be a huge undertaking and would take time, but even 1 or 2 new hobbies with each release would help imo.

1. The Expansion System - please see this thread.
2. Please see above.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
The ability to wear more jewelry at the cost of ICPR. I have more than one finger on each hand. Let me wear 10 rings.....at a cost......

1. Music
2. Having fun at the kin house....

Question 1
1. Housing please!! Reading this thread, it seems to be the most requested thing and for good reason! Remove the hooks, add more hooks, add more chests, something!!
2. Hobbies perhaps- we need new ones. That or make fishing more rewarding and more useful.
Question 2 If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Upgradable/trainable horses, horse armor, etc. Also different horse models. I loved the submission during the Design a Horse contest for the Shire Horse (the big clydesdale type). All those skinny legged things are too small. Give us some horses with weight, horses that actually LOOK like warhorses!!
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Old instances (Carn Dum, Helegrod, etc)
2. Festivals

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Slayer deeds! why do I need to kill 100 bears to prove my loyalty? and why do I have get the 'killer of bears' title before I can start working on the actual virtue? Surely there are better, more story-driven ways to get virtue ranks? Make them quest rewards or faction rewards. Just getting rid of the titles would be ok; I have a bajillion titles already and all the ones I really like came from quests or exploration deeds.
2. While its not quite directly in line with what you were looking for, you might try tightening up Volume 1 a little bit. Its great that is all soloable now but there are 13 books, some of which contain close to 15 chapters. That's just a bit too much for a solo player to work through; I know that asking for 'less' content sounds weird but I'm soloing a lot of Vol 1 content on alts now and it can get a bit, well, boring sometimes. I really want to take part in the Epic storyline but if it could go a bit faster that would be great.

This is a bit subjective but I don't spend a whole lot of time raiding mainly cuz I'm just too busy. Its great content and the token system works well, I just don't get to do it that often
Well, that's my 2cp

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Scalable instances: (like the skirmish concept) so non-uber regular folk like me can still earn the best gear, but also not have to grind for it so long that LOTRO becomes a chore or a second job. I am a casual player that likes to play many alts, but they always seem sub-par due to time requirements to earn the good gear.
2. Housing: beautify the Bree neighborhoods with colors other than drab brown. Expanding the hook idea so many people are writing about is good too.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Add a threat/aggro meter so I know who has the most threat and I can quickly be able to tell how much threat a skill adds.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Many have mentioned the hooks and lack off... I would go further. If houses could be expanded - i.e. you buy a small and add on as your cash flow improves. Also, while I understand why you made housing never come back onto the market, it is a pain in the posterior. I live in a ghost town - I have not seen another sole in my hood in months. 2/3 to 3/4 of all houses are locked at any given time. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
2. Kinships. Nothing has been done to enhance the benifits for kins since they started. I joined a kin just after beta, I am now kin 2nd. Since before housing started we have been at max - and no additional benifits since then. How about message boards in the kin house, kin banks, maybe an enhancement to passing gear and goods between members.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be? I am afraid I just don't know what to say to this question.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Inn league
2. festivals - I just never have the time and even more, I don't have the space to keep the rewards if I did spend my time earning them.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
It seems housing is a hot issue, so I won't bring that up other than to say it is a huge money (gold) sink that I should never have wasted my hard earned coins on. This system should be a pay once system, no maintenance.
Question 1:
1 and 2 Crafting and Economy: These go hand in hand and they should be re-done from the ground up. The only reason crafting exists in a video game is to make the game more interesting, if it does anything else than it is broken. The economy only exists to facilitate the exchange of goods and services between crafters and other players making the crafting system worthwhile. Therefore anything that is an impediment to the economy is an impediment to the crafting system.
Firstly, the crafting Professions should be as interesting and unique as the Class system is. If someone wanted to create a character who's only purpose was to be an armorer or weapon-smith the game should still be engaging. See SWG's crafting system prior to the so called "Combat Enhancements". I knew many players who only played for the crafting system, and they drove the economy. Unlike the WOW model where the only people playing to make gold, and thus driving the economy, are gold-farmers.
Next, everything that a player receives should be worth something to a crafting profession, no vendor trash. Grey items should be broken down for raw materials or "upgradeable" to yellow or purple by the appropriate profession. Items crafted should have many (by many I mean 5 or more) customization slots that allow for the crafter to increase the base stats to make each piece unique. For example: gold (or copper, or silver, etc) inlay on armor or weapon to boost Will, the setting of precious stones to increase Radiance, or the alloying of iron in Jewelry to increase durability, etc. All resources should have many generic uses in all professions.
Items should not be bound, or have infinite durability (except maybe LI's). Items should be repairable by a crafter but never to 100% (durability decreases as a function of the number of times it is repaired), once it becomes useless break it down for some raw materials (salvage). Services, such as repairs, should only be performed by crafter or an NPC hired by the crafter. Crafters should be able to hire an NPC in an area appropriate for their level to provide unattended player services.
Crafters should be able to hire NPC workers to mass produce items, particularly consumables (i.e. food, tokens, etc.). The Auction House should be the network of vendors that already exists and it should automatically "distribute" player crafted items to level appropriate vendors according to the type of item the vendor sells. For example the heavy armor vendor in Bree sells all the heavy armor of level 10-20 posted on the AH by players. Vendors that sell vendor trash are a waist of pixels, code and client/server resources. Vendor trash itself is a waist of my inventory.
So much for brief (sorry).
Question 2.
Mounted combat is a given in Rohan, so I don't consider that "new". Just know that a Rohan sans mounted combat is an unforgivable departure from the canon.
Okay, this is an idea I have had banging around in my head for many years for an MMO game mechanic. I think it would be difficult to implement (or at least complicated to implement), but most things worth doing are difficult. I also think it will be perfect for Rohan in the north considering their conflict with Isengard, and for the conflict between Gondor and Mordor (yes I am a total Tolkien nerd :) ).
The vision for this mechanic starts with areas of the map where there is an ongoing battle for control of that area by two (or more) factions. The area of the map would go through different stages and basically loop through the stages with different factions gaining control of that area for a period of time. For LOTRO the factions would be good vs evil, or freeps vs creeps in PVMP terms. The different stages would be a large scale combat stage, a healing/rebuilding stage, a preparation/ intelligence gathering/patrolling/small combat stage. After which the loop starts over with the large scale combat stage.
The large scale combat stage could essentially be PVMP, with a mix of quests surrounding the epic battle theme. This is time for players to be in the thick of it on both sides. Minstrils healing, RK's nuking, Champ's hacking and slashing, etc on the battle field. Lots of NPC's from both sides involved in the fight to give it the epic battle feel. Players can go out solo and find a pack of NPC's to help, or put together a fellowship or raid and hit some bigger targets on the battle field. This should have a kind of "instant action" feel when a player enters the area and quickly lead into a near chaos feel in the middle of the battle. Players can move in and out at will.
Eventually the battle will subside with one or the other side "winning". Who wins should depend on the quantity of player involvement on each side. The winner will gain control of the area and begin to rebuild the defenses against the inevitable counter attack. While the loser goes of to lick their wounds (healing quests) and plan the counter attack. This is the time for resupply (crafting) quests, tending to the wounded quests, and training (new NPC recruits) quests. This stage should have a "respite" feel, ie. rest while you can as there will be a lot of work to do soon.
The next stage is the preparation stage. The armies have amassed and are planning their attack/defense. Patrols (solo/fellowship/raid quests) from both sides are out getting intelligence and getting into small engagements. Spies from both sides are skulking (solo/small fellowship quests) about (yay Burgs!) gathering key intelligence. The air is tense with anticipation as last minute resupply, training and rallying (buffing) the troops quests are being completed. The end of this stage culminates with the newly rebuilt (loosing) army marching out to the battlefield to reclaim what was lost.
Then, of course, the loop starts over. Player participation at each stage is key to the outcome of the large scale battle in the form of buffs, numbers of NPC's on each side, etc. The stages should last about a week each and the loop should go on even if the players do not participate, however the outcome of the large scale battle is greatly effected by the participation of players at each stage.
The main points here are to generate the feel of a large battle and provide class and crafting profession specific quests that effect the outcome of the battle. Everything that the players character has experienced, all the grinding and training and traveling, will have specific roles or benefits in this event loop.
uh.. wow that is long. Oh well.

1. Housing - eliminate maintenance and add crafting and additional storage to neighborhoods.
2. Storage - We need a closet to keep our costume clothing, we need an attic to store our decorations. The best way to fix this is to *stop making fluff items BOA!* so that I can get one item and share it with my alts! If you're going to make me get the same item on all of my characters at least give me somewhere to store it all!

Fluff games! I'm imagining something like Tiddlywinks. It would work kinda like a skirmish where you could open up a game and other players could join. At first I was thinking players would "ante up" before the game started and the winner would collect the pot ... but I have reconsidered that idea as it would promote gambling. Perhaps a variety of titles could be available instead. There are some unusual terms in Tiddlywinks that would make for great titles. I can see it now... "Ify, Squidger Extraordinaire" or "Ify the Squopped" or even "Ify, Master Winker".

1. Chicken play! I actually love the concept but seldom have the time to engage in it. I actually took my first character through all the chicken quests last weekend after reading this thread. It was a hoot and I really like my new Cloak. I'll be doing more Chicken play in the future ... I just don't know when I'll find the time.
2. Class quests - There should be a way to do these solo. I know this isn't the answer you're looking for here but if there were a way for me to solo the upper-level class quests I would participate.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing (revised) - Free form decoration placement. Choice of internal floor plan. Ability to expand that floorplan after purchase including things like crafting facilities for kin houses (minimum). Develop Hobbit housing floor plans that actually LOOK like Hobbit housing. See Housing Provisioner's and Bag End for Hobbity floor plans. Ability to change external appearance to one of the already existing appearances, i.e. if I want my Hobbit hole to look like one from Woodhall, then I should be able to change the appearance. The graphics already exist in game. So many more awesome suggestions on these forums.
2. Hobbies (expanded) - Plenty of suggestions around. I'm less concerned with what and more concerned with more. One small revision: Add the ability to sit while fishing. My Hobbit feet need a rest.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
I like Hayoo's Tavern Revelries, although you may want to look at all all his Tavern ideas and roll them up into one nice big release.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Instances - We're a very small kin and don't have the people or mad skills to do instances designed for the elite players. I really wish instances had a "quest mode" that wasn't very hard, was scalable (small fellowship minimum, full fellowship, or raid), didn't drop any awesome loot (so the leet players won't complain), but still allowed you to finish quests and deeds. Until something like that happens, I'm stuck waiting until I significantly outlevel instances before I can experience them.
2. Exploring - Because I just don't have the copious amounts of gaming time to wander around like I used to.

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. HOUSING
2. HOUSING, HOUSING, HOUSING! holy ronald macdonald, if Turbine employers would receive $1 each time its community members mention HOUSING, you guys would all be flying your damn own jets by now!
Question 2

Becides wiping out the old HOUSING (and another $1!) and adding an entirely new playable houses, well, the Tavern thing mentioned above sounds pretty fun.
Question 3
Name two activities in game that you never seem to have enough time to enjoy or would like to spend more time participating in. (Note: Things currently in game, not new activities or events.)
1. Chicken play, Tags - those nice little minigames, would like to see more of them after you'd fixed ... oh wait for it... HOUSING! another $1 here!
2. Fishing - it's nice to have a break from grinding another hundred of wargs for a deed, but can we have more new fish or rods or whatever, it's just gets boring too soon.

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
Question 1
1. A way to move housing hooks around more.
2. A way to get shorter cooldowns on Reputation maps.
Question 2
A new hobby, Tentmaking, depending on your level of Tentmaking, you could make small tents, larger tents, ext, or even small houses in certain places that would stay like a toggle skill until another was made. It could even use items from other places, metal, and wood for example. It would be a great thing to have around if you were throwing a party or playing music somewhere. And, so they didn't cause trouble, blocking paths and things, they could have health, so if you wanted to, you could destroy one.
Question 3
1. Tag/Freeze tag. Would be more fun if expanded and there was more obstacles, and your Fellowhip dot was not visible on the map.
2. Chicken quests, They are really fun, but, there should be a reward that lets you turn into a chicken at will, Either for a short time, or a toggle skill, or like mounting a horse.
[This Brittking now: my son is one of the younger players in the game and I thought you might like to hear that point of view since there are many. I notice that younger players enjoy ownership, customization (especially around housing), mini games, and interaction ( like D.R.A.G.O.N. or he keeps wanting to be able to put objects in the game that others can destroy). Also, cliff jumping and jumping onto places that are unique. Thanks for reaching out, keep up the good work]

Question 1
Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Housing. Hooks either need to be drastically increased OR eliminated in favor of a free flow style.
2. Mounts. I expect you'll be tricking them out more as tech becomes available for Rohan but this could use some love and it could be a totally unique system for this game.
Question 2

Re: Tell the Community Team - New and Revamped Systems - 4/8/10
I would like a better way to sort the buffs/debuffs in the UI. Or maybe just make the rows they are in longer so they don't overlap the person belows health. I know there are some things you can do Such as show only things I cast. But I hate doing that because then you can't see wounds poisons etc. Putting on only dispellable effects lets you see the wounds and cuts down on clutter, but then I can't see what I have cast on different people. Maybe something class specific, I.E. a way to turn of seeing mini ballads or captain buffs.
I think I might be happy if it were possible to combine the Dispellable effects only, and my effects only. But currently checking one box automaticly unchecks the other.
Maybe just make the Buff/debuff icons scale so we can make them smaller so we can fit more? Or heck, maybe just separate peoples vitals so more can fit? I'm not picky just something plz.

Excluding, PvMP, Legendary Items and Radiance gear, what systems do you feel could be expanded or revised? Please list two and give a brief description of how you would revise/expand them.
1. Revise the whole idea of providing rare loot on a random number, particularly for quest drops. The RNG that lotro uses has high serial correlation ... which means if your lucky, you will be done quickly, if not, it could take a couple of nights. For the quest drops ... just skip it ... make it number of mobs defeated or at least provide a high probability drop. Some nights the black badges are done in the first 5 mobs, some nights nothing drops for the first 25 mobs and then 5 badges drop on the next 6 mobs. Probably not really random .... The Symbol of Celebrimbor fits this bill too. I don't know what sequence it's in, but there are some very very long cold streaks for some and some very hot for others. If it were a more advanced RNG, maybe these things would work out. (Note to readers: for those who think that reproducing the mean probability is an adequate measure of an RNG, go do some reading before you comment).
2. Give us some preset configurations of gear and traits we can switch between when switching from soloing to raiding to instances to pvp ... you can keep the trait switching costs, just don't make us have to do the book keeping to remember which traits and gear to use.
Question 2
If you could add an entirely new gameplay mechanic to LOTRO what would it be?
Mounted combat
