Yeah, I still find myself reading some ignored posters. But at least then when I get angry I have no one but myself to blame.
The thing I wish it did was have an additional option to hide any post that is a reply to an ignored poster. Ignoring someone doesn't work so well when every post of theirs is just quoted anyway.

QFT. That's kind of like reporting a post that made you mad/violated the TOS and then replying to it anyway. lol. Then sometimes the post gets removed, but the quoted replies don't. /facepalm

Hah yeah, likely my angriest post of all time (one of the few I actually received an infraction for in fact) was changed, but not before the second post in the thread quoted what I just said.
It seemed a bit counter-productive to have changed my post.
I can imagine trying to manage forums with some of these...quirks, can be a real chore.
Anyway, Ignore Function. Useful, but not perfect.

I do not put much stock in rep at face value like I said earlier. It is a nice 'tool' for limiting annoying behavior. As far as big +rep meaning much more than 'this person is not a troll', no, there it is limited.
I don't have a full rep bar ... these CRs troll way more than I do!

Are you one of the people responsible for the forums being down so long yesterday? *hovers over -rep button* ;)

Hey now ... I'm far more responsible for getting these things to WORK again than breaking them =p
Yesterday was....not a fun day to be the 'forum dev' haha. Should have seen the DDO forums >.<

You have my sympathies - I watch the DDO forums as well as these... They can be quite bitter over there in Eberron. I would hate even more to be part of the Account Services team w/ the current issues facing some folks though.

Okay, that was funny! Mostly because I saw a Blue with less-than-10 green pips and instinctively moved to give +rep. I stayed my mouse-hand, though... Gotta save that rep, I've run out too many times before!
Y'know what sucks? Spreading around a bunch of +rep, only to find a barrage of great posts overnight while at work, and having none left to give in that 24 hour period. Adds yet another irritation to my workday.

Re: Negative rep a no no conversation?
I have to say, after today's circus, we really need to look at upping the cap on how many we can give out in one day. :p

So you don't see anything wrong with this? Handing out Rep just because you see a Turbine post?
You really need to read the forum rep guidelines.

How about we show the complete quote, eh?

It was a joke, meant to outline the fact that I often give out too much +rep and run out.

Re: Negative rep a no no conversation?
So.... I and a few others have noticed that red rep bubbles have disappeared. There are several people that have previously had red bubbles now have green or grey bubbles instead (and not after enough time to have been given rep to turn them back green or turn it off).
Are red bubbles already too politically incorrect? Is it unfair that everyone live by the rules of the system? Did someone's precious feelings get hurt (after posting enough inflammatory nonsense to get turned red)? Or are we just not noticing what we're noticing?
Also, Sapience and Patience have both turned their rep display off. What's the point? We all know you're supergreen. ;)

I cannot think of one instance where someone had red bubbles that did not deserve them. Everytime I see someone with red bubbles I look at their posts and I can see why they got neg repped. And they acted shocked too.

Depends on whether the system is fair or not. ;)

I'm in the red right now, roughly -200, didn't take much for that to happen to be honest and in my opinion, wasn't entirely my fault :p
I'm not complaining about it myself as forum rep is kinda like pvmp stars, it's either important to you or not, but I do have to laugh when I see people get a rep hit and then worry about how they will recover from it.

This reeks of the whole not grading school papers in red ink because it causes hurt feelings. Why have the rep system AT ALL if we now can't even tell the difference between a person who has negative rep and a person who is just choosing not to display their rep?

I work for the school district. I know, I know! :p

Re: Negative rep a no no conversation?
So if Red pips aren't going to be used for those in -rep situations, can we get that used for those with extremely-high rep instead? For example, after you get 10 green pips, the next step would be to start over with one red pip, and grow from there. I know I'd like to see those pips used constructively, rather than simply left unused.

You can tell, the tool-tip will say Neutral instead of stating the fact that you have disabled rep. Having the possibility of obtaining a number of red boxes I believe encourages negative behavior in some that will try to get a bar of red.
A number of changes have occured?
- Patience, Sapience, Frelorn (and maybe others) have disabled their rep completely.
- On your User Control Panel, the number of recent rep posts has been increased
- Public User Profile Pages no longer show current activity
- Negative rep is not displayed beyond being gray
