Your account isn't getting canceled, you aren't being forced to pay for anything, you have full access to the game... The only thing that changes is that for the first few months newbie chat might be obnoxious. But there will be a LOT more people to play with. For super low pop servers this is going to be incredible, it'll feel like a brand new game.
Everybody wanted more content and faster updates, well this is how that happens. Look at DDO. By and large its a much better game now than it was when it was pay to play. LotRO will be the same.
Honestly, the only thing us lifers will probably spend turbine points on are cosmetic outfits... Unless they add a way to buy specific attributes for our LIs.

Not a single lifer will "lose" money on this deal. The community will not suffer as long as we "good" community members take new players under our wing, be friendly, and help show new players how to play. An influx of players who get hooked and pay for the later levels and high level area is a paying customer and no longer just F2P. Heck, they can't even do Monster play until they are a paying customer.
As long as we have both expansions and are a lifer, we are not going to lose anything. We get 500 TP points per month that accumulates because we are a lifer/VIP. We can buy new adventure packs and expansions (and other knick knacks) with those points and we get more people to play with. We are getting a good deal.
This is not a personal attack to any of us, just an adjustment.
Yeah, I don't think it will be too bad. It will definitely help fill out the mid level areas and quests. As for LIs, I wouldn't be surprised if they sold upgrades like additional legacies or increased max levels. Got an LI that's almost perfect but just needs that one additional legacy? Spend 250 TP and get it! Want to add 4 legacies of your choosing to that un-ID'd LI? Spend 900 TP and get it!Quote:

Ummm, you are kind of missing the point, when it is F2P for lifers now it is free in the game we have been playing and which we decided it was worth it to make our accounts lifetime. More than any single game play mechanic could have done, this business model will change the atmosphere of that game. This is a good perspective. As a lifer, the only way I was contributing to Turbine's pocket was to buy expansions. Now there will definitely be some things I'll be paying for (wardrobe? *squee* extra shared slots? *squee*) that will contribute :DQuote:
