Only $244 away from the $4500 goal...
Sapience, the news of not finding the mystery of the horse shoe leaves me with great grief.

In other news, a few ideas for incentives for members of the community to donate to the cause given at random to contributors after Oct 20:
- RoR legendary keys
- MoM, SoM, and RoI bundled expansion keys
- Grand Reward of Turbine Points matching the amount of dollars raised to one person
- Take the Buffalo Wild Wing's Blazing Challenge and post it on Youtube or do it at the end of a Community Update. I looked it up, and there is a Buffalo Wild Wings 7.2 miles from Turbine Inc according to Google Maps. If you're unfamiliar with the Blazing Challenge, it requires you eat 12 wings in 6 minutes with their hottest sauce.
Last night Team Turbine slipped past the $10,000 mark for total funds raised. We cannot begin to thank you all for the amazing support you have shown in supporting us in our efforts to raise money to help heal sick children.
As for my goal, we're just $219 away from $4,500 and $719 away from meeting the Reaver Challenge!
So to help us get there, I'm doubling the number of Turbine point codes for the $4000 and $4500 goal levels. Thanks to Erika for kicking in her personal codes as well to make that happen. So now if we hit $4500, I'll randomly select 10 donors at random and each will get one of the 1500 point codes.
Keep the total going up! We've got 11 days left! http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?...cipantID=35128
well, after my donation you're sitting at $4442, only $58 away from your from your $4500 goal. I'm betting you'll hit that today easy, and would be shocked if the $5000 doesn't happen in the next couple.
Might want to start working on higher goals, I think you're going to need them! :)
I'm usually more of a forum reader/lurker than poster, but this thread (and event) has made me want to stand up and say "Way to go, Rick and Turbine!"
That said... remember to hydrate, and stand up and stretch once in a while! 24 hrs is a long run. The longest I've gamed without stopping is 12 hours (with my kinship Trucido when we conquered Ost Dunhoth the day it launched) and many, many Twizzlers were consumed.
*heading over to donate*
Oh yes. It's that last 6 hour stretch in the 24 hours that really, really gets to you. It just seems like it doesn't end, which is why you save some of your favorite games for the end. That way you can plow through those final hours relatively quickly and enjoyably.
Also, another protip: Never, ever, ever begin your 24 hours at an early hour of the day, like 9 in the morning. I did that the first time, and it was a really poor plan. The issue was that I made the night hours my final stretch. At that point I was tired, and it being night didn't help me stay awake. However, doing the night-time stretch first allows you to be tired during the day. Plus, if you start your 24 hours at 10 or 11 PM, you can just go to bed at a normal time and wake up the next day without issue.
See, I'm planning this year! :D
We did hit the $4,500 mark briefly but it looks like we slipped back below it for some reason. Might be an updating error.
Meanwhile, I've donated $3 and posted a my Fantasy Football fail to the page as part of the punishment for losing to Adam Mersky. As if that wasn't punishment enough.

So let's get this Ettenmoors thing going already! Just over $500 to go!.
I'd pledge $100 if I could get Levels 27 - 49 of the "Level XX and I HATE this game" threads (with replies!) in some kind of raw text form, so I could create PDFs of them. :)
It dropped back because I retracted from the entire thing, after the day I've had Turbine and anyone associated with it is very much off my love list, look on the bright side you're off the hook WoW wise. Please remove me from any entitlements, I'd hate to acquire them under false pretences.
And we come thundering back! $4,551.37 raised (Thanks Mom!). Getting close to that magic $5,000 Ettenmoors challege!
Wanted to share an awesome voicemail I got today from Extra Life. They called to say they're impressed by the amount of money raised both by Team Turbine (Over $10k!!) and by the fact that my goal moves up every 24-48 hours and we manage to hit it and move it again and again.
THAT'S 110% YOU GUYS! Your efforts got the attention of the folks at Extra Life and YOU DESERVE ALL THE CREDIT! There are no words, there are no things I can give you that - in my mind - matches that or even comes close to that voicemail.
Not that I'm not totally rummaging through my desk trying to find more stuff for new Goals. :)
The voicemail from Extra Life shows that LOTRO still has the most PASSIONATE fan base!
Maybe you could remind the devs, producers, or who ever you need to that LOTRO has the best fan base in the world and that spending resourses on an ingame dragon slayer award housing item is a good idea. If devs complain about you pushing this issue you can say its Rowan's fault for bringing up the possiblity of an ingame version to the players attention in the dragon slayer award thread you created over a month ago.
how hard would it be to donate every month a tiny sum like 5000dollars for children and people in need ... ?
specialy for big companys that run the most profitable business you can imagine ...
5000 dollars ... come on ... those charity things do nothing then puting those companys and good-will people
into a very bad and phony spot-light
if I could play games 24hours streight ... hell yeah, even for charity ... doesnt seem like a lot of sacrifice at all, didnt it !?
just my opinion feel free to ignore it completly if you dont agree
Way to go! Ettenmoors here we come!
Gratz all on hitting $5k!!
Yeah, we could debate the obligation (or non-obligation) of corporations with regards to societal issues vs profit margins. It's an important issue. However, in the here-and-now I'm going to instead focus on the fact that a couple of individuals (Sapience, Celestrata, and Clover) are taking advantage of their publicly visible job positions to prompt people to do something good for some people who need it. That's a good thing, and shouldn't be drown out in a clamorous cry for bigger good things.
And besides, I'm going to score a infamy boost picking off weak freeps who show up to mob Sapience in the Moors, lag permitting of course.
We're off to the Ettenmoors! $5k goal met and utterly DESTROYED!
So I'll start sorting out the live stream details and figure out a time. I will say it will be during the afternoon on Saturday October 20th. I will, as required, roll a completely green Reaver and I will make it known who I am and where I am, plus I'll tweet a link to the live stream from my personal twitter account.
On ward and upward! Literally faster than I could update the page we sailed past the $5k goal and the $5,250 goal and we're nearly to the $5,500 goal! Looks like I need to come up with a $6,000 goal after all.
So the $5,250 goal was to share a pic of myself and LOTRO associate Producer Hanna Foell sporting the Dwarf beards we'll be wearing in the Community update. So here's the pic! https://twitter.com/rickheaton/statu...776192/photo/1
Also, the dev team in general is really getting in on the act and more have ponied up their 1,500 point codes as rewards. So now I can say that if we hit $5,500 we'll DOUBLE the number of people winning point codes to 20. Considering there are about 150 people who have donated to my page thus far, that's pretty good odds! and that's on top of everything else.
Keep it climbing! http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?...cipantID=35128
Sometime back a few pages ago I promised I would make an effort to get the secrets of the Horseshoe revealed.
Well it didn't work out quite like I planned, but I didn't give up hope. I hold in my hand a note that lends clues to the power of the horseshoe, when you should try equipping it, and a small secret that surprised me.
But there is a price. The bounty on this note (and I'll be clear, it's not a point by point reveal, but it's VERY interesting) has been set at $6,000 raised to help sick kids. We're almost there.
And I'll also be clear. This is approved by the dev responsible, it is in my hand, full wording approved.
I'll even reveal the first sentence...
"It’s time to pull the veil back just a bit on the mysterious horseshoe and what it does"
So there you go, about $650 from now I'll post the rest!
For the top 5 donors - are you looking at single donations only or will you be adding together multiple donations (say someone donated $50 four times - will you be counting that as $200 total or just looking at the $50 per)?
Also, just to clarify, kinships will not be included in the top 5 in relation to the banner and soundtracks, correct? I am also assuming donations made in a business name will be considered individuals?
The horseshoe improves fishing.
Looking forward to being wrong
