Sorry this is so late.
This draws on Silmarillion lore, so put on your thinking helms.
I laughed as the great archipelago broke away.
I laughed as my fair form was undone.
I laughed all the way home.
Who am I?
Correct! It's your turn to post a riddle.
Im not a forum frequenter, but I stumbled across this thread. I absolutely love it:) So many great riddles and i've thoroughly enjoyed reading through it. My favorites were the soap in the bath and the false teeth.
It's almost enough to get me to want to regularly visit the forums hehe:) I absolutely love solving and writing riddles, and I think Tolkien was a great riddler:)
Here are a couple I wrote recently.
A guard am I
No one and nothing may pass while I hold my vigil
Though I may let you gaze upon what I guard
I bend not, nor do I yield
Yet my body and will are weak
And I may be broken
And my defenses shattered
By great force and pressure
What am I?

I have started many fights, and ended many also
Just by being naked, exposing myself completely
I have brought many people relief, though I have also been known to hurt many others
I have been chased mercilessly by a reporter and a law enforcement officer
And then expected to appear in court
I’ve been pursued by a poet, and a philosopher
I have been kept hidden away and almost killed cruelly
By a Man who speaks lies
A deceitful Man has slyly shown people one half of me
Some have even questioned my existence
What am I?

I can teach to you wisdom, and can change you completely
When you smile and you laugh I sprout wings
I parade by in triumph, or can pass by discreetly
I accompany all living things
I have been on your side and then soon disappeared
Left you wondering where I had gone
I can be celebrated, but must also be feared
I will catch you someday In my run
I’m invisible to you, no one can see me
You’re at work or unhappy? I’ll crawl
You can ponder me much, but still not comprehend me
But you can see my face on a wall

Thanks again for this thread:)
EDIT: just reread the rules at the beginning, forgot that only 1 riddle at a time should be posted, sorry about that..
The first one I am not sure of.
I think the second one might be tears?
And the third,.....time?
Good ones, all, by the way!! :)
Is the first glass?
You are correct about glass Elfboy:) though i was specifically thinking a window.
Adora, good answer on the 3rd:) Time is correct.
The second riddle though, you didn't get.
Im glad you liked them:)
Ok, then I'll try my second answer,....is Truth the answer to the second riddle? :o
Very good Adora:) Truth it is!
Your turn now =)
Wow, thats the first time i've ever been really close to getting one correct.
EDIT August 30th:
okay, since its been around 48 hours I hope you guys won't mind me presenting a riddle of my own. This one is probably going to be very very easy.
I am used to pull soups and water
yet I have never been used,
I shine upon a black backdrop
with my bright mates,
Men have looked upon my
fellows and me and mused,
Navigation and time and futures
can be seen in my fates.
What am I?
the answer is stars my good friend =)
I have to say your very close, but this is a group of stars. 'Stars' is to hazy of an answer.
oh boy, ok =) i was wondering about the first line. its the Big/Little Dippers, probably more precisely the North Star.
Big Dipper is correct ;)
hmm, its been almost a day, and i cant think of any riddles so if anyone wants to take my turn go ahead. =)
Cool thread! Here's one:
From new life
I come to play
More than that
I will not say
(Speak not this riddle
or you'll give it away)
I think that's enough, but I have another verse if you need a hint.
No clue Thorondor, a hint please?
Hehe, ok. Classic case of, it's easy if you know the answer. Ok, here it is again, with another verse.
From new life
I come to play.
Unless you're a monk.
you heard it today.
More than that
I will not say.
(Speak not this riddle
or you'll give it away.)
I think the last verse gives the biggest clue, but maybe it's just me.
This Riddle? I don't know, I'll come up with something if it's wrong.
Hmm..
Speech, or Sound?
Close enough. The answer is, a voice. Guess that was harder than I thought. :)
From new life
I come to play. <----- A baby's first cry
Unless you're a monk.
you heard it today. <----- Monks take vows of silence
More than that
I will not say. <----- "Say"...
(Speak not this riddle
or you'll give it away.) <----- If you spoke this riddle, you'd use your voice, so you're "giving it away"
That was a great riddle, took a lot of pondering! :)
Just finished this one up:
I’m there on scene when blood is shed
My likeness seen through hate and rage
Through cloud I fly when sun is set
At times in theater, shone on stage
I quiver, dancing, as in flame
I live on apples, cherries too
My face, oft' seen on canvas, framed
Now guess my name and speak it true
Reflection? Stupid guess probably.
Very good guess elf-boy, not stupid at all!:) but still wrong, reflection doesnt fit completely. Try again hehe
