As long as someone's paying the rent, the house can still be used, at least in my experience. And if you have all permissions, you can use the storage of the house.

If you have a kin and a kin house, if you change the name of the kin does it affect your house other than who it is owned by?
I searched through this thread (and a few other guides) and one piece of info seems to be missing... just how much IS the neighborhood vendor discount for owning a house, deluxe house or kinship house?
Standard house - 10%
Kinship house - !5%
Deluxe house - 20%
No stacking. You get the largest.
One of my accounts I have a standard home in the kinship racial housing complex. Different neighborhood. I get 15%.
My other account has a deluxe home in the kinship racial housing complex. Different neighborhood. I get 20%.
All three homes are in Duillond - elf houses. In three different neighborhoods or instances. Both of my homes are near the vault, vendors and exit.
Is the fact that your alts (the other characters on your account that didn't "buy" the house) won't get the return to house skill still true even today?
I seem to have heard otherwise... or maybe people were implying otherwise. But I could be wrong.
I found a different house that I really want. Is it possible to give up the house i currently have in order to get the other house?
Yes! If you have owned the house you want to get rid of for 24 hours or more, you may abandon it and purchase another house immediately. They just make you wait 24 hours after purchasing a house, to purchase another one. So once you buy the new one, if you wanted a different one after that you wouldn't be able to purchase another one for 24 hours.
Have the housing prices changed since the start of this thread, which I believe was three years ago? I read through about half the entire thread and didn't see a mention of it.
House prices are still the same! They have a slight variation depending on the location inside the homestead, but these are generally the price.
What's the use of having a house at all if you can only have one house per account? That's nice for one character, I suppose, but not if you have many characters.
Are we allowed to own a personal house as well as be a member of a Kinship and have a Kin house on an F2P account (or any account for that matter)?
You can buy one house per server per account. The character who buys the house is the "owner" but all of your characters have equal access to it. The only thing special about the "owner" character is that if that character is deleted, the house will be lost as well. In addition, you can give characters belonging to other accounts access to your house if you wish.
You can own both a personal has and a kin house on the same account/server. A character can own both a personal house and a kin house (if the leader of a kin). I don't know if F2P players have special restrictions. I don't think they do but you do have to remove the money cap if you wish to buy a deluxe or kin house.
All of your alts will automatically get the "return to house" skill. You can have one personal house per server.
Note this FAQ is obsolete. Housing has changed quite a bit since the last time it was updated.
Sorry please now ignore this post.
I have gone ahead and bought a house now, so answers to the question I asked are no longer necessary.
Did a search for "upkeep" on this thread and nothing came up, so I will ask the question. How often do you have to pay upkeep? Is it taken out automatically from your wallet or is there someone you have to pay at a specific time/location?
Pay upkeep once a week, and you can pay six weeks in advance.
Work benches forges and such should be available to kinship housing at least. This would promote more kinship meetings. As it is housing is pretty much useless other than for a teleport. Why can't we change the fireplace in our house? And why can't you cook in a fireplace like a campfire? The list of things a house could be used for go on and on. Let people put gardens in the from and grow food. Each chest should have separate permissions too.
A question:
I've bought a kinship house and i have a ceiling that needs a ceiling spot but i just dont see any in the house. Where do i put the ceiling then?
