LEVEL CAP INCREASE??!! PROOF Turbine is increasing the grind to make money from us!
Virtues now cap @ 15! - This announcement further illustrates how WB has corrupted Turbine into a cash grab. No one has ever said Virtues need to increase EVAR! They don't listen to the players they just want money. Now I am being forced to buy the +1 to Virtues. And don't talk to me how there are 5000 ways to earn the deeds in game free cause it isn't free, I have to buy SOMETHING I'm sure, to do it and it's all their fault.
My ISP increased my rates, obviously they know I play LotRO and they are owned by WB. Just another way F2P has ruined the game
F2Per's DESTROYED my Kin!!! Sure we were about to die because lots of us weren't playing anymore and now we have over a hundred people, but it's not like it used to be, I used to know everyone, Turbine/WB ruined it all.
Symbol's of Whowhats - Terribad drop rate in the Treebeard's Tummy instance and not available to buy in the store... WHY IS IT EVEN IN THE GAME??? To increase the grind of course...
Log in queues??!! Further proof Turbine is forcing me to buy a subscription, remember back in Mirkwood when you could just log in and not see anyone anywhere?
Help Design the Monster Contest - ANOTHER evil ploy! They only do this to FORCE us to buy xpacs which they promised we wouldn't have to buy. Your lies are stacking up Turbine!!
Why did you nerf class x Turbine.. Just because we could solo the new raid doesn't mean we were broken. And don't give me that "it's was a bug" **** either. It's obvious this is just another attempt to make us buy potions and stuff.
Class x's ability Rooty Tooty Highfaluty is not stacking right and now I need to buy potions from the store cause my raid leader said so. I heard he actually works for WB and is just trying to make people buy in the store.
The Saruman's Sanctum instance is bugged, since we keep trying it without a class that can rez it's obvious that that Turbine is making us BUY rez stones! They refuse to fix it because it makes them money. Remember back in Mirkwood when everything always worked right and if it didn't they immediately fixed it? Oh I miss those days :(

As for Moria/Lothlorien goes....
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/251/mirkwoodmom.png
are you sure about that? Looks to me like Mirkwood is at least 3/4 of the landmass of Moria and the little bit of Lothlorien available at launch. Although Moria did have some multi-level areas to it, those were very few and far between.
Moria Launched with 7x instances (6 radiance + FT) and two raids, compared to Mirkwood's 3x instances, and one raid.
It's hard to tell exactly how many quests each had to do an accurate comparison, but it's not exactly fair either, as Moria was stacked heavier from 55-60 than it was 50-55.
I will however agree that Moria certainly had more than twice the books (6) than Mirkwood (1)
ya...Turbine has said on more then one occasion that each area map does not necessarily have the same scale as another.
also...moria is a vertical area shown on a flat surface mirkwood is a horizontal area...
so comparing them as you have wont work.
:D

:D
That's very true! You can't just take one in-game map, and lay it over another and expect it to be to scale.
Which is why, if you notice, the maps that I used were taken from the lorebook google map, where everything is scaled, and lined up with the terrain itself. ;)
As far as vertical goes...there are only a few areas within Moria that actually has play area over play area. Durin's hall, parts of The Great Delving (most notably the Palace of Nain), and the Zelem Melek entrance to the Redhorn Lodes come to mind. Although there are plenty of areas with multi-level stairs, you'll notice that they're horizontal as well as vertical, which is why you can see all the zones from above, with no overlap.

As a Founder and Lifer, I'm looking forward to the progress the game is making.. This game has come so far from beta, it certainly is mind boggling.
I still say, as I always have said, Thank You Turbine for bringing the greatest book series (and movies) to life for me to enjoy, as a game to play. Kudos.

Subscription Rates/End Game Gated behind Xpacs/Hard to earn TPs
I knew this was coming when Turbine announced F2P. I even posted about it back then. I hate to say it but it's true, it isn't F2P it's all about the PAY TO WIN. Points are hard to earn, and I can't earn enough to make everything free in the 1 hour a month I have to play. Thos supposed end game I keep hearing about is now gated behind xpacs that I have to buy if I want to see it right this second. It's just another grind, unless U R BILLY GATES. But then why would you play lotro I mean youd just make the movie yourself and keep it to watch at home and charge ur friends to come over and see it to get moar moneys. WHY I HAVE TO PAY FOR CONTENT NAO TURBINE??!! R U PWNED BY BILLY GATES?! And now if I want to log in and play I have to pay subscription and xpac because points are not easy. It was never like this, I been here 19 years from start I was beta tester and everything and now you treat me bad. I can only say pay to win is bad. just my 2 cents prove me wrong!!
We should totally hold one of those "when will the baby be born" contests for when this post is bound to come along.
Sorry, had to cut the grass today....lol
EDIT:
This:
"It was never like this, I been here 19 years from start I was beta tester and everything and now you treat me bad."
Shoulda been more along the lines of;
I have been hear fron the start I am a FoundinglifersupersecretAlphat ester player, and it wasn't like this back then tURBINE used to care.
PS:
I still say the 2000 TP's for my lifetime sub to this thread was the best deal yet!

No updates in 2 days?
Have you fellows finally raged yourself out?
This thread was so ridiculous it was the only reason to come to the forums, we can't let it die. Come on, someone post a conspiratorial rant.
I'll start with a rumor I heard:
Lifers are going to have to spend 5 Turbine points every time we log in. With 500 a month that isn't really bad, it means we can log in 100 times a month. Shouldn't be too big of an issue, as long as the servers stay pretty stable.*
*This statement is entirely untrue and made in jest

Re: Lifetime Account Members Thread
Perhaps people just came to realize that getting something free is not so bad afterall.

Perhaps... or maybe some Players realize like I do that our opinions about all this are meaningless. I could rage about LotRO going to F2P til the Aurochs ate my cabbages and it wouldn't matter.... and rage I did for awhile. I could make all the suggestions in the world about how Turbine could make this better for all concerned but it won't matter. Warner Bros. is in charge now. Whether they want to admit it or not the Turbine Dev Team has been gutted for the new project and those talented People that created LotRO have moved on for the most part months ago (that's public knowledge). The new Employees at Turbine don't feel about LotRO like we do and probably never will, and as a result they want LotRO to be something different than most of us want it to be.
Posting about F2P is a waste of time. It will change nothing. Turbine has a Royal Flush in their hands and I have a pair of 3's. At least I am still sitting at the table and in the game. All I wish is that I had been paying closer attention to what the Dealer had been doing.

You need to get your facts straight, because this is utter hogwash. The only "public knowledge" statements to this effect have been made by players raging on the forums, not by Turbine.
I'd think devs like Orion and Berephon and Made of Lions and the like (those who have been working on this game forever) must get tired of reading this nonsense, as do the newer devs who are pouring their heart and soul into this game -- because they love it and are as passionate about it as the players, if not more so.

But when you consider the output of content, if no devs moved on then they have each lost at minimum 6 fingers.
Content is way down. Are there devs out on disability? Did they replace their Workstations with 286s? Were they so filled with Hope and Change after the November 2008 election that they have ascended to a higher level of existence?
Content is down, the easiest excuse is less devs.
I really do not know any other supportable theories.

Read the dev tracker, announcements, and so forth. From what has been publicly stated by the GM/dev team, it seems a lot has been going on in the background. Sapience noted in the Enedwaith Map thread that "in terms of content, Enedwaith is larger than the North Downs". If so, that would make it the single largest *free* update this game has ever had. That hardly sounds like the devs have been idle.
Unfortunately, the lack of information is the crux of the problem perception-wise. More communication might have helped. But that's a knife-edge for game companies to walk. Some go full-bore with concept info, then get hammered for "lying" or "failing" if something doesn't work out the way it was originally discussed; some go silent and get hammered for lack of information. Surely a good middle ground exists somewhere. To me, even just snippets or hints along the way would help.

But your acting like this only happened from Mirkwood till now. It has been going on Since Moria's release. I'm not saying that they have been idle, but there has been relatively no new content. (Delayed Lorien for bk 7, Book 8 w/ raid, Mirkwood paidxpack, V3 Book 1 zippo content, no Summer update, Enedwaith in Oct-Dec) 4 free updates in 2 years. All that time they haven't been working on Enedwaith.
I will bet nearly anything that Enedwaith does not exceed 160 quests. You know Mirkwood has only 87 non epic quests. Lorien has 99, About 20+ were added with Mirkwood.
I'm not saying they need to let us know what their doing. But they better well put out content and not 2 updates per year one of which is something delayed or content free.
The matter of the fact is for 2 years they have not put out content If you consider Lorien was part of MoM and Mirkwood was paid, we have gotten 0 land area updates in 2 years. Really if developers aren't being laid off what are they doing. They don't need to tell us they need to show us.
You have to admit that whatever the devs were doing it did not make it into the game.
And I'm very curious how much "content" Enedwaith really has. Over 150 quests? Doubtful.

Some do it right. The DDO team for example:

Oh sure, but they already have a template now for F2P, which theoretically should mean that they can jump straight to the good things about F2P.
Namely a far better response to customer desires.

Moria is mostly an exception to the rule. They hired a lot of temporary people to work on Moria, and those people are gone. Of course, that starts the whole "ohh, they laid off people!" conspiracy theories. Moria was an amazing amount of effort in a very short time.
Compare more accurately to SoA period I think. There was a lot of dev effort then, but it was not solely on one particular thing; it was not only raids, not only new zones, and not only fluff. It was a mixture of a little bit of each, not a mixture of tons of each.
If you look at what was in Mirkwood (and I wish people would stop saying "it's been a over a year" since it hasn't been) it wasn't that small. Big zone, lots of quests, a handful of instances, a completely new skirmish system and all it has, new deeds, new recipes, new tweaks, etc. Maybe not a full expansion, but they didn't charge that much for it either...
3.2 is going to be big also. New zone, new quests, new tweaks, new revamp of low levels, scalable instances, a huge revamp to make F2P work, and whatever is still to be discovered after Beta NDA is released. That's not tiny, and it definitely takes a ton of developer time to do all that.
Yes, I know it's not chock full of only the stuff that you like to do. But they can't focus on only one small group of players at a time, they have to give a little bit of everything to keep more than a small group happy.

You've proven my point with regard to too much vs. too little communication. If they hadn't said that they wanted to get Lorien into the MoM expansion, then you would have considered it a content update. Since they did, you dismiss their hard work as leftovers.
Book 8 w/Raid is content.
Mirkwood is significant content: Good size landmass, Epic storyline, 87 non-Epic quests. Yet you dismiss it as new landmass because it was a paid expansion. That means you dismiss all the time effort that went into the development of the landmass, the questlines, the new tech (e.g., the Skirmish system -- which was a huge undertaking). It was a major release; just because it wasn't free doesn't matter. It is a new landmass within the period you are speaking of.
Book 3.1 was a lighter content release, but it was new content nonetheless. New Epic and quest storylines are content. I for one like to see new content added to existing zones; however, like you, I also want to see new landmasses as we progress through Middle-earth.
Do I think the content releases were lighter since MoM? Yes indeed. Do I want to see more come out faster? Also yes. Am I willing to belittle the blood, sweat, and tears the devs invested in producing what we did get because I wanted more? Never. :)

Great post. One comment: Most of those hired for Moria and laid off after Moria release were QA, not devs. Moria was largely produced by the SoA devs, with some additions. This isn't my opinion; it's been verified a number of times by the devs themselves, but often gets lost in the ripples of forum speculation. :)

Can we get this back on track?
OK...back on topic....
The store will suck and Turbine hates Lifers. Oh yeah...free players are all 8 years old....
