Yes, the forums here, the respective servers' forums won't be closed until after the worlds are closed per former post (I don't recall if it was Frelorn or Vyvyanne, but I believe the former).

I imagine they won't do the forum name changing you suggest since most folks don't look at the forums, and if they do, they don't look beyond the General section; the server forums rarely get used for most servers, so the effort would only reach a tiny minority. Additionally servers might become open and then closed again, as conditions require, so it would be a fair amount of additional work with limited benefit.

As soon as I verified that the kinship has transferred over successfully, ready for my members to join. I'll likely be "Name-2", I will deal with the rename later. (I have "Name" and I bumped an inactive that is now "Name-1".) My house, my stuff, I will check it, but if that is missing it will require filing a ticket, it shouldn't stop my members from coming over. Deleting the level 1 will be my sign that says: Come on over, its safe, you will join the kin.

They will see my kinmails until the very end of the server closure. After that? Well, I already left a note in the Riddermark forum where my kin is going, so that is where they will find it. Those forums will be read-only for a while longer, but I don't know how long.

I guess the server forums are the best for that. The "sunsetting" server forums that is.

I think that is already sort of the idea, but without special forums... you can use the server forums already to make note as to where you are going. I suspect the server forums will remain writable until the servers actually CLOSE, and then they become read only.

Yesterday, my transfers took 4-6 hours, during which time I was locked out of the game and the forums. Unfortunately, the lock-out was indicated by a screen notice that told me I was 'banned'.

So, at least now I know what to expect when the next servers open up for transfer.

PS For what it is worth and only based on my own experience, I should add that the transfer from Elendilmir (North America) was much faster than the transfer from Estel (European).

I had a handful of characters on Landroval, I transferred my characters from Elendilmir to Landroval and those are the only characters available to me now - NONE of my previous characters on Landroval are available anymore. :-(

Did you have enuf char slots for all of them? If not they wont be available. Put in a ticket if you did have the room for all of them.

Once I transfer the toon who owns my personal house, may I use any toon on my account to buy my house on the new server? Or must the original toon remain the homeowner in order for all the refunded money and chest items to transfer successfully?

Regarding the world xfers, I am hoping that the powers that be are monitoring the neighborhood housing situation so that when the mid to late worlds giving the ability to transfer will have enough housing neighborhoods for kinships. The reason I mention this is because we have four kinships and are able to have all four kinship houses in the same neighborhood, plus most of our kinnies able to set up homes in the same neighborhood as well. It makes for ease of use between the kinship houses and personal houses. I don't know if anyone else is part of multi-kinships for alts and different purposes.

So yeah please keep an eye on the housing needs ans kinships and characters move...Thank You!

I guess thats what matters. I was thinking of a scenario where the you and your kin and all your alts make it but something happens with player houses. That is prolly where the tickets get written though. [Quote]

This is my big question. If you send out a kinmail then move, your kinnies are no longer in a kin so they should not be able to read kin mail. I don't see why the original Riddermark forum should go away in any form until after Jan1. Ok I do see some issues but *I* think those are minor in comparison to a lost kinnie who's last resort is to come to the forums and hunt down information. I have no idea how complicated it would be to mark each forum, as the appropriate transfer opens, with a new name. "Riddermark: Closing, Transfers open" Add a broadcast message of the day, cuz we all know that if hobnabigans can get a map each time you log in you can get a closing message each time you log in, to direct players to server forums, with a link, for returning players. But thats just me. When a server actually closes the forum title is switched to "Riddermark: Closed" for a month after that. Jan1 the closed server forums go byebye and a single forum for Closed Server messages opens to connect with returning players for awhile.

I'm not suggestion any special forums be added. I'm suggesting the current forums for the servers have a name change to indicate the status of the server.

Going by previous experience, your characters should transfer and the old ones still be there but if you don't have the slots you have to pick which ones you want to use. The others are there but become inactive. Thats the way it works if you have characters in slots you populated as a vip then drop to premium. You will lose some spots. You should not lose the characters, even if you don't have the slots.

I agree this should get a ticket.

I checked yesterday on Arkenstone, Shire neighborhood, and there were entire empty neighborhoods and plenty of houses to choose from. I have not checked the other three neighborhoods.

I also checked Brandywine, which is currently about 4 times the size as Arkenstone (based on logons only), and there is plenty of houses available there as well. Again, I only checked shire, as my toons are mostly hobbits and often dwell in the Shire. :D

What do you mean by "critical mass"? Perhaps Bree housing is the most popular, and I haven't checked it out, but it would appear that at least from my Shire point of view, we have nothing to worry about.

No, you can receive a kinmail while in kinship (obviously) and still have it when you leave the kin or the kinship gets disbanded. The mail is already delivered to their mailbox, and it will be there till the server closes, they don't have to be IN the kin to HAVE the email.

Yeah I guess what they should do is just create a section called "Former Worlds" and just put all server forums of sunsetting worlds in there, once they officially close of course. They don't need to remove them, they can just be left active as an archive.

I guess you should open a ticket, but I think you already did that :)

In regards to the availability of housing, I made some maths in a thread a while ago:

Hey. I am trying to transfer my characters from Gilrain to Laurelin. I click the Transfer button on the regular client, and no server list comes up on the Select Server section of the Transfer Wizard, the Your Worlds list is just black/empty. Any ideas?

You can not make that transfer yet. it has not been activated by Turbine. All you can do is wait.

The only active transfer at this time is from Elendilmir and Estel.

Are we able to transfer between the remaining worlds yet? I see the transfer button is available and would like to transfer "scouts" off my new server to make room for my older toons coming from a sunsetting server...

I'd like to be able to plan for my move from Riddermark to Arkenstone. I'm a kin leader, so I will select my kinship leader character first and by means of a level 1 character which I will delete as soon as i give the "go" (when the kin is formed on Arkenstone, and it is safe) I will tell the kin to go ahead and transfer.

What I would like to know is if Riddermark is indeed scheduled for Monday, and what the approximate "live" time is for the transfers. I will probably transfer my kinship leader in the morning, get that out of the way so others can do their transfers without me being there, and do the rest later.... but I would like to know when the scheduled time is, if at all possible.

Been almost 4 days now. Any news on when Ridder will be up for transfers? it seems Lotro doesn't want to respond or post any kind of communication what's so ever.

Well, to be fair, it is outside of office hours, so maybe we will get some more info tomorrow. I'm ready, I am just trying to plan this all in knowing the wait times maybe many hours..... Also, the Elendilmir announcement came on Thursday, so maybe it is fair to expect the next-week announcement tomorrow, on Thursday too.

Also, I don't know how many problems they encountered. Where the transfers between the 5 worlds were fast at all times, a few minutes at most, this is the first BIG stress test, where players have been waiting for many hours for their transfers to complete. If they encountered too many problems, they may have to fix some things first....

That said, yeah I am hoping for an announcement tomorrow. :D

Having just made that same move, THIS got my attention.

Just logged in to check, and all chars are showing for me. (...and have 265/180 items in shared vault. lol) :)

As already abundantly mentioned, definitely need to ticket your issue.

I understand hw it works and why they do it this way but it kind of sucks when people have to compete for their names on the new world.

In my kin, there are concerns that maybe some of the remaining servers might be 'closed for transfers' after the first worlds have transferred because of 'overcrowding' , just like Brandy is at the moment. Which would mean that we might not be able to transfer to the server of our choice.

At least, not immediately and with no idea about when we will be able to transfer.
I would like to tell the kinnies who have these concerns that there is nothing to worry about, but... can I?

Does anyone have any information about this 'possible issue'?
