Question: I see that next week's event is scheduled for The Mysterious Cave near Duillond. Is that the shrew stomping cave? If so, won't that have the same problems with instancing that the hedge maze did last year? I'm pretty sure that only 25 or so people are allowed in those instanced festival areas at a time, if that. Though obviously I haven't gathered 25+ people there outside festival time to test it out. Just thought I'd put a caution out there. :)
A very good point! I will Check with Harperella on that. Although we did an event recently at Thorins in the instance near the skirmish spot. It worked out fine.
Do you guys ever take requests for a host location? If so, may I ask that you have the next Ales and Tales somewhere in Breeland or the Shire, considering that only having a low-level character on Landroval, I'm pretty limited to where I can go and I would love to take part.
We nearly always pick locations in the Shire, Breeland, or Ered Luin. When we move into more dangerous locales, we have a meet up location, followed by a convoy to Ales and Tales. But those don't happen very often. We often get visitors from other servers show up on level 7 characters. We always make sure there is accomodation for these players, much as I'd like to hold Ales and Tales at the Haunted Inn (mirkwood) or Caras Galadhron (Lothlorien).Quote:

And as all A&Ts, it was a fine display of music and stories; I especially enjoyed the tale from the elven maiden (I'm bad with names :confused: ). I had a lot of fun at A&T as usual. This was the first event where I brought along Nermal and Mr. Doggins so I hope they weren't too much of a distraction. Let me know if they caused any uneasy feelings or if anyone is allergic. I tried to keep them near the back of the stage by the fireplace so they wouldn't give anyone the sneezes and wanted to prevent Nermal from putting an unintentional claw into someone's bare foot. I figure they'd get lonely if they always had just me to give them attention. On a less important note, the 80th Ales and Tales was the first event I got to attend after earning full membership status in The Lonely Mountain Band. Yay!

Tonites Ales and Tales is at the Shire housing. OLDFURLONG Hoods. I suspect we gather at the town stage.
Next week it is at the Buckland Ferry! There will be a fish fry! I think its on the Buckland side, but will wait for confirmation.
On behalf of Dringil, I would like to thank the LMB for placing last night's Ale & Tales at the Buckleberry Ferry. It gave him a chance to catch up on his fishing and still hear good music. (The combination fishing pole/ lute didn't work out too well.) The fried fish was delicious, especially combined with Bullroarer's Brew.
Could we have more A&T in fishing zones? Dringil will make some campfire kits so we can cook, if that would help. If only we could find chocolate and marshmallows then it would be perfect....
Glad to have you, Dringil! I'm sure we'll be having some more fishing-friendly Ales and Tales in the future. Next week is in Woodhall, however. We'll make sure to have it in Staddle soon for the fishing and fishing vendor.

It seems that the coming Monday - July 18 - will mark the One Hundredth Ales and Tales! We plan to celebrate this long-running event with a special program at the Green Dragon Inn where it all began.
And then the 2nd anniversary of the show is coming up soon, too!

The Ales and Tales Podcast will be launching soon! We hope to record the first episode of this new show for Middle Earth Network Radio after this Monday's 100th Ales and Tales. Locney, Gaiagil, and Lennidhren will host the podcast as a weekly recap of the happenings at A&T and a chance for folks who cannot attend the in game event to hear the performances and join in the fun. It can't happen without the help of the performers, though. Anytime you perform at Ales and Tales from now on, we would love to include your act on the podcast in the following ways:
- For a music act, you can either record yourself playing the song in game (it would not have to be at A&T; you could prerecord this or do it after A&T in some quieter spot...) with FRAPS or another means; or, you can send us the abc files for your song and we can generate a wav from them.
- For a story/poem, you can either record yourself reading it aloud or send us the text and we will read it aloud on the show.
Submissions can be sent to alesandtales@gmail.com. We plan to record the podcast on Tuesdays, so send your submissions in ASAP after the A&T at which you perform them, please!

From Ales&Tales last night,..at Pierson's Farm outside of Bree.
Doing some testing, shooting HD at 60fps with a crowd, and playing back at 30,..looking for a slower feel.
The most successful shots are the when the camera is not moving so much,..gets a bit jerky when I start moving, may need to try stabilizing the film.

It has grown and changed over the years, but returns now to our humble roots at the Green Dragon, where it all began with a handful of friends and a passing Bounder patrol. (Thankfully, the bounders joined in rather than writing us a citation for disturbing the peace.)

Goodness, it has been a while since we posted here, but 'Ales & Tales' continues its long tradition of Monday night revelry! We're well on our way to a fifth anniversary next summer (though our string of unbroken appearances was interrupted recently by Winterstock). Here is a summary by Lhinnthel of last evening's get-together at the Lonely Mountain Brewery:
"The crowd was quite a bit smaller than usual, this Ales & Tales. We think folks may still be recovering from last weekend's four day Winterstock musical festival... or, they're frozen out on the pond in Thorin's! In any case, the show went on with Old Winyards opening as seven strong. Band leader, Lady Byrcha, wrangled members Galzagar, Kyrian, Tomeoric, Tamoro, Eilye and Lhinnthel into a lovely opening set of old favorites. Tamoro then got the acts portion of the show going ...by introducing the duo of Kyrian and Galzagar; they played two very lovely duets. Next up, a newcomer to the Ales & Tales stage, Serbryt, had everyone on the edge of their seats with a heart wrenching tale of mystery and intrigue. We hope he returns next week to share the ending, as it was a real cliffhanger! Melanie and Beno rounded out the first half of the acts with two duets that had the audience singing along. Then, Tamoro called the lovely Tearna to lead Musical Mentoring this evening, while he shared this week's announcements. Of special note, Runic Knights Orchestra (RKO) will be performing at 9:30 pm in Michael Delving, at the Bird and baby, on the first and third Tuesday of each month. RKO will also be the featured guest of Les Beaux Chapeaux this coming Sunday! And, No Whole Bard will be performing early Sunday mornings, for those of us who didn't get enough of them at Winterstock! After announcements, Ales & Tales continued with an interesting song by Tomeoric. The song detailed how Tomeoric happened to acquire his very adorable hobbit horse. We were led to believe that this song is the only proper tale and we should, under no circumstance, listen to anything Beor has to say about the matter. Next up, Beno strummed out a lovely dancing tune on his lute before joining Melanie and Orladan for one last song. The trio played beautifully, while Melanie sang along. As the final act Tamoro sent out a heartfelt dedication to his Gammer, for her 100th birthday yesterday. May you know that we all were all so glad to celebrate her with you, Tamoro. It was also overheard that Mr. Tromblon and someone dear to Kyrian were celebrating birthdays as well -- so a very Happy Birthday to both! Of course, it wouldn't be Ales & Tales without a final Dance Set by Old Winyards! It was a fun evening and there was certainly enough ale for all, what with the giant kegs from all over Middle Earth lining the walls! We thank you for coming and hope to see you again next week. We’ll be visiting the High Kings’ Crossing in Evendim."

For more than five years Ales & Tales has been rocking Monday evenings! "As the sun sinks way down low" join us starting at 8:30pm EDT/servertime for the open-mic Nibbles 'n Nobs. Folks take turns on the stage during the hour leading up to the main show - sharing songs and greetings. Look for the announcement in the /alesandtales chat channel to see where the evening's gathering is taking place! You'll also be able to sign up with our stage-manager, if you've a song, tale or other act to share during the main show! Our house band and weekly acts share a variety of music spanning multiple genres - from traditional to modern.
At 9:30pm EDT/servertime, our MC will announce Ales & Tales which usually includes an opening set from the house band - OLD WINYARDS! This is followed by the acts, announcements and a final dance set by the house band - which usually lasts until 11:00pm (sometimes longer!).
Recent highlights have included a series of fine tales from Flyt, tunes from the fantastic P.I.E., Bara Bahau, Cardolan Contata and Bits & Pieces- just to name a few! Both groups and individuals are invited to play during the show. We are honored to have the opportunity to host so many amazing musicians and individuals over the years and we always invite folks to come share their talents for everyone to enjoy! Once a month we'll hold an Extreme Ales & Tales. We applaud all who make the perilous journey to far off places in order to dance with friends and kin!

Each week, the event moves to a new location and once a month we hold an Ales & Tales Extreme (ATX) in a higher level area. Each week, the event moves to a new location and once a month we hold an Ales & Tales Extreme (ATX) in a higher level area. Look for an announcement in the public /alesandtales chat channel to see where the evening's gathering is taking place.
Then, "As the sun sinks way down low," join us for the open-mic Nibbles 'n Nobs hour from 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm EDT/servertime. During this hour, folks take turns on the stage to share songs, tales, poems and more. You do not have to sign up with anyone to take a turn during Nibbles 'n Nobs, just watch for the stage to be clear and go on up!
During Nibbles 'n Nobs, the stage-manager will advertise for folks to sign up for a slot in the Main show by sending a /tell.
The Main Show runs from 9:30 pm - 11:00 pm (sometimes a bit longer). We welcome all to sign up, be it solo artists, bands, storytellers, actors, comedians, etc. We cannot wait to see what you have in store for us! Our house band, Old Winyards, shares a variety of music spanning many genres, in an opening set and a closing dance set. Our MC also shares current events, during the show.
