Yeah and Turbine just announced just a bit ago that the next 2 servers won't be opening up this Monday and that we'll get info sometime next week about things. So, just wait and see. Just a tip from a guy who runs his own server box with servers that have had populations with several of 64 people all the way to 10 servers running with 200/200 people at the same time.
It takes time dealing with the kind of stuff Turbine is doing. New hardware (which isn't fully set yet) doesn't mean, "Oh, I can slap my game right on it and get my information for this game going in minutes!" No, it takes time and figuring out is this increase of CPU, RAM, Network Usage, etc. will work with how the game currently is? And games with information that is older and mixed with newer information makes this processing even harder!
Basically, a simple way to explain why this process takes so long is because of how you get the data to the server. Picture yourself as your character, carrying ALL of your items visibly exposed. Now you start moving forward to enter the door of the server (logging in), this door is small however and you have to wait as you move all your stuff through the door with some people losing some or all their items as has been the case. Now if you have this small door and 1,000 people wanting through the door at the same time, it all causes the process of getting through said door slower causing what players call "Lag" which is just data that is moving much slower compared to it's usual speed.
A good example of this is Mount and Blade: Warband: Napoleonic Wars. On Siege servers when the max amount of players allowed on 1 server is 200, when the map is first started, it could cause upwards of 5+ minutes of people sitting and wait for themselves to be fully loaded in. This in turn causes people to moan because of said wait, but it was the same across the board for anyone running that server type.
The longer Turbine takes, the better. As those people who will be at the end of this process (being people who return to the game and when ALL servers being closed finally do close forcing people to join a server) will have the easiest time with things as the months of data beforehand will yield the expected results intended all along. So sit tight, get comfy, especially if you are in the middle or bottom of the list of server transfer :D
