yeah my second guess
dwarf rings
why are they cold?
Yeah, I guess there weren't seven Silmarils, were there. . . .
But, there were seven Dwarf rings, weren't there?
I did a bit of research(like, 3 minutes worth of research) and came up with the answer... Is it Thrór's Ring?
If that's right, then someone else can make a riddle for me.
Edit: Guess I'm too slow. :(
Yay! I'm smart! ...Even if I did kinda cheat...
But anyway, I don't know any riddles, so Aleczander can take it, or if he doesn't make one, you can take it.
No one got this one, so I am reposting in my turn. I altered it to be more true, so I am deleting this version.
Cheers!
I have been wanting to drop in on the old thread for a while; gotta catch up on all the new riddles. some great ones here!
I've thought about your's for a while Pillagem. Im having major trouble knitting together a final answer.
first of all i'm assuming it's LoTR related...
and your looking for the identity of the "ME" in "sad if you are me"?
random thoughts:
bells reference: Valmar; city of bells, in Valinor?
sea sky reference; coast of Valinor?...Alqualonde? where the kinslaying happened (blood of the best?), because of the silmarils?(gems reference?)
"Sad if you are me" sounds like a reference to Nienna, lady of tears...
bleh I cant quite get everything to fit...
and then the Isle of Balar keeps coming to mind.. (sea, sky), and "gems" is referring to the pearls found there... but the bells reference... and who is sad... so much sadness in middle earth, it could be anyone hehe, (Cirdan was there? Gil-galad? blood of the best..? hmmm)
......I'll keep pondering it. I guess for now my guess is Nienna.
(or maybe Im completely off track, not even close hehe. Either way, im fine, I just enjoy trying to solve them)
In the extended absence of a response to my guess, and in the interest of getting the old thread jumpstarted again, ill post an easy one I just put together.
Young among the ancient
Though ancient to the young
Impulsive and impatient
Swift to anger, swift of tongue
Of grief and ruination,
And of beauty lost he sung
C'mon riddlers, get things moving again!!
I can't be the only one who misses the riddle game! :)
OK, I've got one. In case my guess above was correct, I'm going to go ahead and post it:
Three by three, and second was he,
From north of the ashes and close by the sea.
Stalker, pursuer, a villain most dire,
he met final ruin engulfed in the fire.
SL
a wolf or dragon... geez i need to pull those old books out again:)
Woohoo, a new riddle! (and a tricky one at that)
Good to see you riddling again Silverlocket:)
Yes, Bregalad/Quickbeam was the correct answer to my riddle.
Now for yours... in case Aleczander's guesses are incorrect, I'll ponder it for a bit, and try to put together an answer of my own.
I would say Gollum, the second ring-bearer, but the bit about close to the sea kinda throws me off...
Khamûl
(and I'll pass)
Khamûl it is, indeed! Second in rank of the Nine Nazgûl, from the east (north of the Ash Mountains and by the Sea of Rhûn), he pursued Frodo and friends. He, along with the other Nazgûl, perished engulfed by the eruption of Mount Doom at the demise of the Ring.
Good job, Tokomak!
SL
Wait, really?
When I saw that part in the movie, with the flying fireballs hitting the Nazgul on their Fell Beasts, I searched for it in the book and couldn't find it. I thought the movie producers had thought of it and that it was GENIUS. But I guess it was in the book after all.
There isn't much detail about it; the only sentence mentioning their fate is:
And into the heart of the storm, with a cry that pierced all other sounds, tearing the clouds asunder, the Nazgul came, shooting like flaming bolts, as caught in the fiery ruin of hill and sky they crackled, withered, and went out.
The phrase "caught in the fiery ruin of hill and sky" is indicates (to me, anyway) that they were caught up in the erupting fire from Orodruin. It's always possible that I'm misinterpreting it.

The change to 3 TIMES 3 completely did make the difference for me, though I totally should have been able to get it before that.
Excellent riddle!
Ok Tokomak guessed it, but he passed. So who's up?
Keep it going:)
I'm going to start working on another one when I get a minute.
a real tough one this time...
Tom it is! I know super-easy, but I'm tired now anyway. :)
Then what does "First of many" mean?
I would think it means the first of many residents of Middle Earth.
Good guess MissGrace, your turn now!;)
