hint: they were close to the fellowship
Sheesh... Im having a really hard time with this one.
I only have one rather shaky answer at this point, but for the lack of something else, how about the two halves of Boromir's Horn?
Its water born in that in came down the river with Boromir's body in the boat..
Its a foam rider because it went over the falls with Boromir
Its a regretful twin because it unfortunately became identical halves of what was once a whole,
Its a silent herald in that it's mighty sound once heralded great things, but now, in peices, it lies silent.
Was obviously very close to the fellowship, being carried by one of its members
so thats what I got right now hehe
(you know, as I write this out I become more and more confident in my answer hehe)
(edit: yeah Im pretty sure now. If im right, kudos to you, very clever riddle!)
You got it!
Sure took you guys long enough! lol
your turn Elvyen!
Excellent riddle!
One of those that, after very extensive thought, leads you to an "AHHH I get it!" moment, not a "Gimme a break" moment hehe
I dont have a riddle ready, but i'll work on it:)
In the meantime, anyone else may feel free to step up.
Some americans use the borne spelling..all brits do, but can also be spelled without the e.

If when you meet me I stand tall,
Whether I be backwards, forwards, and around,
Upside down or right side up, I will astound!
I appear to be the same in all!
When I arrive, no shadows do I cast.
Though laborers seek shade during their repast.
Back to work; too soon for them I seem to pass.
Once I leave shadows return en masse.
Oops! posted under another alias. lol!
Welcome back Brodomir!
and thanks for reviving the old thread :)
as to your riddle, it has me stumped... for the time being.
Still thinking.
edit:
...ok I have a shaky first guess. Perhaps midday? or noon? or the sun at noon/midday? :)
Brodomir?
Are you coming back?
After more thinking, im feeling a little more confident of my above guess.
noon or midday.
Standing tall could be a reference maybe to "high" noon?
No shadows cast refers to objects appearing to not cast shadows due to the sun being directly overhead.
Lunch/Repast for laborers is noon; and lunch hour is always over too soon hehe
When noon is over shadows return, as the sun is now at an angle to all objects again.
well?
Sorry, RL has had me running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Aye, the answer is NOON. :)
Excellent!:D I enjoyed that one
I actually found a few minutes to throw one together.
How about this:
Its first half is the common people.
Its second half is a story.
Usually tall, no matter how short
Mythical child of traditional parents.
tall tales?
you're close:)
fairy tales?
Okay, it's been a while. I'll just resurrect this thread. :P
It's my first riddle, please don't flame. :P It's somehow connected to LotRO aswell.
You hold me in a container
that's really a no-brainer.
I'm useful in combat,
outside I'm not.
If you want to use me,
hit me in your face.
If you haven't got me,
your life might be in danger.
EDIT: another one, a haiku!
Gil-galad's better,
a powerful tool of old,
grey-elvish snow point
What am I?
It might be too simple. ;)
Well, I don't know about the 1st one, but I believe the 2nd one is Gil-Galad's spear Aiglos.
1st one - Camouflage paint ?
