The Thread of Goodness
This thread is here so that whenever you feel like it you can pop in and say something good. It can be about the game, other players, real life....anything.
The only rule is, Please keep the trash and trolls out of here. If you really feel the need to write things like that then maybe start a thread of badness!
To start it off I just finished work for the day, have tomorrow off and can't wait to see you all when the server is back up :)
Cheers!

Re: The Thread of Goodness
My Kin killed the Balrog for the first time last night! I know most of you have done it, but it was kind of a special occassion for me. When the Rift first came out, I left my old kin to start a new one and decided I would do so by recruiting lowbies and really building the kin up from the floorboards; adding a couple key free agent 50's along the way for class balance once we did start Rifting. I decided that I wouldn't attempt the balrog without them, so didn't join VA, or join in with other kins when I was invited, and resisted the temptation of other smaller kin alliances.
The Iron Rangers is now rank 8 (almost 9) so it took us 9 months to get there, but we finally did it and I'm still smiling a day later. It feels like this kin has finally arrived on Vilya.
:-)
Next up, Thorog.

Re: The Thread of Goodness
Grats again snow. I might have to leech the hope you leeched from us next week lol. I went with a kin that I don't normally run with, and used my hope popper. That first balrog kill is exciting, I couldn't sleep that night I first did it.
-
Re: The Thread of Goodness
Grats Snow. I have yet to do it but I have at least seen the fight and I know it is really hard(that is putting it mildly but this is a public forum ;) )

Yep thanks for that. :D We've been trying for weeks without hope (pun intended, sadly). Couldn't believe someone was actually turning on a Wednesday! We'll be turning ours in this upcoming Wednesday at 6:30 pm central, we'll announce on unite. See you then!

Re: The Thread of Goodness
Grats on killing Balrog,I still havent been able to kill him on this server, but my kin goes every other week and we downed the overseer last time, so that was exciting, again grats.

Re: The Thread of Goodness
Got something last night that I have been waiting for since May 20th. It was bigger than I thought it was going to be. I am just glad I caught the address mistake and was able to grab it before they shipped it back.

Not everyone uses this strategy in the Everseer, figure I'll share ours..
Before you enter the everseer room, assign an LM to each of the darkling pools. Let the darklings spawn the worldeaters. Have the LM's perma-mez their assigned worldeater. Everyone else burns the Everseer, turns on the each worldeater in turn, then cleans up the remaining darklings. You can't have more than 2 worldeaters in the room at once for some reason, and after the Everseer dies, the darkling's just stop moving.

Re: The Thread of Goodness
I love this idea. Sweet Sweet Goodness.
Today, I am at work for my mandated weekend rotation. I am looking forward to getting on home after the toil is done and spending time with the man that has captured my heart. Autumn is in full swing in NY and its beauty still captivates me.
Gratz to Snow and his kin for downing the Rog! Hard work pays off at last!
I need to start taking my Minstrel Daanae to the Rift, so if anyone out there needs some healing for the adventure, look me up!!

Re: The Thread of Goodness
Today I played Lotro all day at work. I lost 3 stars on my burg and guess what? It didn't bother me in the slightest. Done work in 20 minutes and home to play on the good computer with 100x better graphics :)
P.s. Burg squad was fun and looking forward to doing it again!
P.s.s. Now I know why wargs like to do it so much.

Re: The Thread of Goodness
I feel good. A contractor showed up to install some software and I was able to send him to someone else's office because it was windows software and they're the windows admin. :)
And, as this is the thread of goodness, I have a goodness dilemma that I need advice on.
I bought my sister an ipod nano for Christmas. It arrived yesterday. It comes wrapped in all sorts of protective plastics. Should I break the plastic to preload it with some videos and music for her? Breaking the plastic seems such a sin because it's all smooth and shiny; that delicious feeling of opening for the first time should be hers.
An analogy:
Should I take a bite out of a slice of warm apple pie, just to serve it with a huge heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream, then dousing it with streams of caramel?

Never break the plastic, especially for a female. She may kill you.

Re: The Thread of Goodness
My unlimited broadband contract has expired and the deal is now non existent. This is a good and bad thing. Bad-My spider is 5k away from rank 7. Good-I am spending less time in game and more time on the forums. My record for being away from LOTRO in 2009 is now 10 days (3 days with bad internet, 7 days banned). Joy.

Nice thread! I want to say that I love Vilya, we aren't too big or too small. I especially love that my kin is here and they are just a bunch of really great people that keep me playing the game. (Who am I kidding, I'd play anyway) And for the very few of you that I talk to outside my kin, thanks for being here too!

Oh you should get the unlimited texting option. It's so worth it if you do a lot of texting. the company I am with charges like $0.15 for the each message(In and out) and most kid do like 3-4k worth of texts per month. thats like $450+ or you can get the unlimited texting option for $15. Sound like a deal to me :)
As a side note I made it to lvl 45 with my warden last night. I wonder what lvl she'll be after my first post book 7 kill?

Re: The Thread of Goodness
Texting?? That's so last year.... PINing is the *In* thing now. :)
... and the snow is melting! It went from -35^C, to like almost 0 in 24hrs. Hopefully it stays that way and goes nowhere but up from here.
-
Re: The Thread of Goodness
The snow came back, left, came back, left, came back, was on it's way out the door and as we were all breathing a sigh of relief that is was about to go when it turned around and said "just one more question." I guess it was doing Columbo impression this year. Still not sure it's gone for good.

Re: The Thread of Goodness
The VA is got really great bunch of people and we all seem to know our classes rather well. that is one of the things that helped us down the Fear wing on Monday and then the LT. the next night.
I just want to give Magnarr the props he deserves for holding the group together all these years. though I know a lot of people have helped out over the years Magnarr has been the glue to hold us together through some of the slow times. Jenna and Frey have also done a bunch for raid leading and support. thanks every one for all the time and effort you have put into this great group of wonderful kin independent raiding.
if you would like to more about the VA head on over to http://www.vilyaalliance.com/ and get all the info you need.
-
Re: The Thread of Goodness
Wow, thanks Melnordan! After reading that I'm feeling quite honored and humbled. :)
The VA has been a fantastic outlet over the years for smaller kinships. Jeanna, Freyborz and Melnordan have all been great group organizers and leaders in this adventure. Danga, Hypercyril and 'Wen too, in years past. It's the volunteers and regular participants that make it what it is and keep it going. Thanks to all for keeping it a really strong group of great folks.
I still remember Oct '07 having an ale in the garage, thinking about how to connect the separating community. The Unite channel followed and just a week later the VA was born. I'm very very proud that both have sustained over the years. All credit goes to the greater Vilya community; such great folks here!

Re: The Thread of Goodness
I like this thread a lot!!! I don't know why everyone is always like "OMG THREAD NECRO OMG NOOOO". If y'all had not brought it back up, I never would have seen it and it's so POSITIVE! I like positive things!

I came back to the forums simply to post in my 3 favorite threads. It has been a while and I figured we all needed some smile here now.
I have a great group of friends in the game. We still get together to raid on Thursday and Friday. Though there has not been a new instance for some time it is still nice to go back and remember how the old ones work. The main reason I come back though is for the people. Always fun to chat with friends in vent. :D
-
The thread of goodness :-) I look at the names in here and see lots of good memories: Shallaboth, Falrendir, Tedallalion, Redhate, Tayawen, even Koreana and Daniella. My old friends Guka, Joadan and Megas. Even dates my kin's first Balrog win. And I remember Jbarr from all of his Helegrod runs with Codred (and killing his OoN spider). All gone now, as is Vilya (rip especially Tay). But the good memories remain.
-
Yea good times on vilya, I've played a ton of other mmo's and still haven't had more fun in any of em than my time spent on vilya.
-
Nostalgia's a b****
Hey Snow, Slin ;)
Good times, indeed.
I came back a few months ago for a while. Worthless without old friends.
