really? lvl 61 disease for 10 mins in moria?
screen shot please.
That the plague you get in Foundations of Stone? Once the duration is up it reapplies a new 10 minute disease at level 62 or something... I think eventually your character starts coughing and stuff. It's kind of amusing.
I remember running 16th hall with people and commenting "hey (name) you've got the plague..."
Is that the perpetual one that the Globsnaga can give you? It actually lasts even longer than 10 minutes because after 10 minutes it doesn't run out, it tiers up and gets worse. Speaking of that.. does it just instantly kill you at some point? I think I've been at tier 3 or 4 of it and I was still alive but I decided to cure it instead of finding out. >.>
It does not kill you. High enough tier, it is difficult to see what you are doing. You get a greenish effect and dulling to the screen. You can give it to your fellow members. Cough on them. Make em sick. Sadly Turbine changed it. You want to get rid of it. Log out. You are cured.
This:
Reason #201,908,220,901 for me to avoid Moria.
PLEEZE, Turbine, an alternate to that hell hole?
LOL.
Still, I imagine it must be amusing ;-)
or you could find a 63 LM, tend the sick is the skill i believe
Or you could just use a pot. But yeah, totally a valid reason to avoid Moria. :p
Heh heh heh. This was a fun one to make. The reason we had to change it to remove on logout was because higher level players were grouping up with lowbies who had no way to remove it, since it was a level 60+ disease.
Whoa whoa. let's take a step back here.
pots are entirely out of the question. who ever thought of using a pot to cure a disease? *** was he on?
It's been quite a while since I've run around Moria a lot, do we still have the disease (or whatever it was) that spawns a baby mob from us?
Perhaps not, but I'm 99% certain that lowbies cannot remove those diseases, even with a lvl 65 pot. I'll have to try it out tonight when i get online.
Besides, think of the poor lvl 8 hobbits in MD with no high lvl kinmates... they're just minding their own business at the vault in Michel Delving when a lvl 60-something diseased hunter decides to run by and makes those hobbits lose their appetites. (not that my hunter has ever done that ;) ) Think of the hobbits!
.
Someone asked for pictures, here is the disease taking over my screen. I only remember this happening once, sadly. Did it go away or am I just curing it before it gets to this point?

This makes me want to go down there and get this! Heh, nothing like getting the plague just for a good chuckle.
Use protection next time.
Buying them now at Housing works. How many newer players would even think about going to housing and checking? Many may not even own a house.
When Turbine introduced this fun disease, these potions were not available at the healer in housing. I remember looking because I get a nice discount. Going Bah. I have to send Tant to buy a stack somewhere in Moria or Lothlorien put em in the housing chest.
I remember kin members going nuts because their screen was messed up from drinking. Others had gotten some sort of DOT that would not expire. Thank goodness Turbine created the clear on log out.
I love to see more of these effects. Keep the log out purge.
Or people could be nice and use a salve to cure people they infect. ;)
If you're in a group while in an above-level area, one would presume someone could give you the pot. Even if you are too poor to afford it.
If you aren't in a group and you're in an above-level area. . . aren't you sorta asking for trouble in the first place? So if you get the plague while being where you shouldn't, and you can't afford the cure, maybe that's just the appropriate result.
I've come to beleive Turbine has an entire department dedicated to "How can we annoy the players in game?"
LOL Honestly, they'll spend money on almost anything. "Fix bugs, nah.. let's annoy more people! That's the ticket!". "Okay,. wait, let's add the plague to the cloaked prowlers that wait around ore nodes. Then we can have it last for weeks, we don't need them in game, as long as they don't cancel! Lag solved sir!"
LOL
The way cough meister Tant wrecked havoc. I was in a high level area. I got sick. As a hunter, I can not cure myself. I did not have. Did not get potions.
I got a personal tell. Tant can you come help us? Yeah sure. I returned to Eriador to help out five little buddies with the Epic line. I got them all sick. We had to track down a friend that can cure disease to cure us all.
Lets cover one case in my kin. Someone got sick with this disease:
1) used /k - Idano. Nobody knew what she talking about. They had never encountered it.
2) used /advice - crickets
3) global channels - she like a lot of my friends. does not what a global channel is. Probably would not use it even if she did know how.
The folks like me that know more about the game. We are not bothered by this stuff. We find a way to correct it when it bugs us. I usually use Google. I hate asking people in game outside of my kin. A lot of them are jerks unless you are in the starter areas. Or they do not answer.
The folks that need help. They do not know where or how to get the information. They are screwed unless they got a friend like me online. That can either answer the question. Or alt tab and find the answer.
I can not speak for any other server. Meneldor has a lot of jerks. Typically I shut all the channels except kin down. I find myself getting building upset - building aggro reading what being written.
I was in the AH in Thorin's Hall not long ago with my Level 7 Guard/Mule when a guy ran up next to me and stopped. He had that cough. I got away from him in a hurry. I wouldn't call Thorin's Hall an above-level area.
If they made it so that a toon under Level 50 couldn't catch the disease--some kind or other of lowbie immunity--then I wouldn't have a problem with the disease not vanishing at logout.
The two most popular pastimes in game are:
Griefing and trash talking. Oh wait some call it role playing. I guess the role they are playing is **** hat. I feel bad for Turbine sometimes, they add things to the game only to have them misused and abused, by the Adult Infants we have infesting the game. (and they worry about FTP bringing in problems..ROFLMAO! They're really worried about someone else taking away their "fun").
Heh... this is one of the reasons I carry disease salves instead of potions... just so I can cure sick people when I see them hacking up phlegm on the auction house floor.
My alt RK won the Dad's Day lottery with the cheese. I think he was 48 at the time. I was able to easily heal through the entire effect of the cheese. Started as just see if I could, then I wondered what would happen at the end. Only thing I noticed is it cheats! After the effect has expired, you get several more morale hits.
Let me explain.
You get disease in a low level zone.
You then must WALK to the nearest housing area you enter a housing area.
You then buy a 24s lv 65 disease potion FROM the housing healer.
Because no one else before Moria sells them.
You do not need to buy a house. >_<
I love that disease!
I left it on for a few hours on afternoon after catching it in the Foundations.. You wouldn't believe how many @tells I got from people just giving me a heads up that I was diseased. :)
