anyone on this server actually like to help people out?

I am stuck with never getting into the raids or instances I want for armor or whatever. People just stand around in the 21st hell hole hall and never ever say anything or do anything. No one wants to group , no one cares. Lothlorien is empty. I have yet to find a level 60 legendary weapon. Just trying to like actually play but again all these people on this server and no one ever wants to do anything to actually get things. They rather stand around 21st joke talking then playing. I play this game to play not chat. There has to be someone here that actually groups and means it when they private message me telling me "they will help." So far people who have said they would do these group content sections of the game with me, have no followed up and the were the ones who offered.

Anyone actually nice and helpful on this server?

Sounds to me like you are in the wrong kin and/or using the wrong channels


Find a kin that is more active in instances/raids if you are in a kin that says that they do instances/raids poke them harder.
/lff is great for find groups and the userchannel 'glff' is somewhat good for that too.

I dont understand why people dont do just a simple google search or ask search in the web about the most populated servers of lotro before they start and join a server
When i first played lotro. i wanted to play on an active server with many people, for groupin,raids,pvmp thats why i joined one of the most populated servers of lotro

What do you guys expect whne you join one of the lowest populated servers?its normal to not get groups
Just join one of the three highest populated servers:Brandywine,Landroval,E lendimir, its simple you will get all group you want in these servers

I get the best connection to this server, and not very good to the others. Also I am actually pretty damn nice, and in most cases would do anything for anyone, but i am fed up with standing around for 4 hours every night looking for groups. I mean people in 21st hell just stand there like zombies. It's frustrating and terrible and thus the anger begins. Most are 65 too and have all their stuff and probably don't care to help others. I don't get why they don't just all go on xfire or some messenger and chat and log out of the game if they aren't going to actually play. It's the strangest mmo I have ever played and I played them all, even the korean ones! There are some nice people but most just stand around doing nothing and if they are showing off armor it's not good looking. Well except this one person has some decent armor in look. I also am in a kin but i don't know, i'm not much of a kin person and I DO help the people in the one I am in, even if they are all low low level. I wouldn't abandon them so they feel like I do in the 60 levels.

Jessicka -- it sounds like you're trapping yourself a bit. If your current kin are all lower level toons, then they obviously cannot help you out as you near end game and if you're not willing to move to an end game kin, then you're missing out on a huge resource. This game is all about the kinships and our server is one of the more helpful ones around. The problem you are running into is that all the folks in 21st know each other already and generally are just waiting to start an instance.

If you don't want to leave your current kin (and your reason for not wanting to do so is commendable), then you need to seek out alliances with other kins. Surely in all the time you've played you've met some good folks that would be willing to help you again, right?

I run regularly with three different kins, any of which should be able to help. Give me a shout in-game and we'll see what we can do.

You caught me at a bad time the other night. I was in high demand by my kin to help them with quests. You normally do not play at times when I'm on and I understand that.

I find that most people prefer not to quest with people they don't know. Or with people outside of their kin. When they have a choice (because they get to play during peak times) they prefer to avoid PUGs (Pick Up Group? Previously Unknown Group?). Some instances are a disaster when attempted with a PUG, unless you get lucky. So I expect that is why many people ignore cries for help in LFF or otherwise.

I still haven't finished 2.4.7 myself. But I'm not so driven. I can wait for the off chance that some of my kin will need my help as they are doing that specific quest themselves. Over the more than 3 years I've played I've helped a good many folks even from my own kin go right on past the quests I'm doing and see them right through to the end. It's not a problem for me as I'm a lifetime subscriber. I'll do it all eventually. In fact I probably already did 2.4.7 before I actually needed it myself lol.

But as a kin leader I am in demand, so you will have to be patient when you contact me. I may not be able to drop everything to help without sufficient notice.

I've found that I can do things with a small number of people. I think my biggest problem with Kins (or guilds, i Like that word better) is that the talk bothers me a bit. I am by nature more into a small little group of people than a big group where people spam things like "lol" and all that kind of talk every 2 seconds. I just want to play with a couple people who are as driven as I am to get things done as quickly as possible.

Playing late won't really change. Certainly there are other players in this game who play late, and maybe have just a small group of 5 or 6 (less is even better.) Some stuff people do in groups in here, I've done in duo/trio .. even solo situations. Not that it wasn't a strain but it got done quick. I have a good heart, and am a great listener. I can't be the person I really am when a lot of people are around though, and it's always been like that for me. I need to focus and not wear myself thin amongst large groups. What I want is hard to find, but it's worth fighting for to find because I definitely can't operate well in any other environment. I will continue to also help the kin of lower level people but I need to find something that isn't childish or too big. I prefer the old saying quality over quantity because true substance is very important for me. I wish the tone I am trying to convey would come through in my typing, but I don't think it is. Anyone who takes a chance on me would definitely not regret it though.

I am the same way and am glad I found the Kin I found. The reason they are referred to as "kins" here is also because there are crafting guilds. If you mix them up in LotRO, you may wind up confusing people. It takes some getting use to though if you come from other games.

What you want isn't hard to find, but it does sound like you want to group with older people. If you keep your mind open, you will find it. My first Kin here was like this and I was very happy. I took a break from the game for 6 months and they had split up. I was in 2 others before I found this one and I'm pretty happy. I don't talk much in Kin chat or vent, and they recognize that and are okay with it. We are all 30+ year olds with jobs/familys and so when many of us get on, it is with an objective in mind. If you want to find this though, you should look through the kinship thread for our server and then view each kin's independent sites and forums.

You will have to understand that people can't drop everything to help you. Just as you have things you wish to get done, so does everyone else. Even people at max level aren't "finished" necessarily. They may have traits/deeds/epic quests they need to work on. No offense, but your posts make you sound as if you want people to help you right when you want it. I typically ask for help, but do other quests/crafting/etc until the group is formed. Don't let the "fellowship" quests in this game slow you down. There are many others to do. My kin has an "epic night" where we help people catch up because people have skipped so many when leveling.

Good luck on finding what you want here. It is not always smooth for some of us.

Unforgivable is the best word to describe how this game can be playing at the hours I do. I've tried to find people and a few people with "big" guilds (I know it's called Kin, I don't like that specific word) have contacted me but they seem to not play at the hours I do, as I have not seen them on when I log in. A few were too big, and I really don't want to be just another name on their who's online list. I know I want something smaller and less cold than what I have experienced. The only people playing my hours straight out told me they won't take people not from their country for some ridiculous reason.

So this message is really for the few people that do play late at night on a regular basis, and feel alone like I do. If you are one of those people, message me and we can start our own thing together. It will be something small, but effective and focused. I play with passion and I don't approach anything in this game with meticulously structured plans. There's goals I want to accomplish, but unlike many players I meet, there is too much flux within me to play like a robot. So I play for fun. No one is on when I play, but maybe some people are hiding out there somewhere or feel like they are hitting a dead end and are considering quitting like I am. Well do not! Contact me, maybe we can make something work and actually make some progress in a very flawed game.

Also, I've seen people post here or on mmorpg.com saying they play with their husband and wife and no one else, so people like that would be good to start up a group with because they probably understand the struggles of not finding or trusting people to do stuff with better than anyone.

I personally find it odd that people from big guilds offer you to join but don't understand that you aren't the person that needs to be under review, but they are and all their "trusted" people. I mean it is a two-way street but joining countless guilds (kins) and being treated like you don't exist because you don't have some sort of perfect personality, or tell jokes to get attention can be really disappointing. The way I feel about this situation I am in is more than just some text and wanting items. Sure I want help with that but this is also a true, deep feeling of being alone and hating it but not wanting to go hang out with just anyone who offers because it's like being invited to a party where you know no one, and you feel like going outside and getting away from everyone.

If you can't find a kin on Meneldor to help you or take you in, try a more populated server where there are groups recruiting 24/7 to fill spots.

Those would be Brandywine, Elendilmir, and Landroval. Unfortunately you will have to reroll there as Turbine does not allow for server transfers to those servers as they are considered 'overpopulated'

so far I'm found people to be very helpful and friendly...

I too have been looking for people to quest and overall just communicate with. I just started a kinship earlier, so far i have 4 ppl in it. My characters name is Shandir. I would love to fellowship with anyone, because i too find it very hard to find people to hang out with, i just started playing again today, but i used to play 2 years ago, Again my character name is shandir, my kinship, elite kinsmen. I should just start recording and documenting all the false promises and just plain lazy boring level 65 people who don't do anything but stand around 21st hell for the 5 hours i play doing emotes. They never want to play or help, they dont do anything but stand there so it's not like they are even playing really. This is very frustrating. I really don't want to switch servers, lose the names I like because then I could care less about my characters, and I don't want to join a huge kin were you are a name on a list and if you are lucky enough to be online when others are, you can get something done.

I want something smaller but able, in terms of getting stuff done. People who care that the other people in the kin are getting things done and help because I'd help others. I don't want to join something where I have to do anything uncomfortable outside of what the game is meant to have me do - play. Lost cause. They need to nerf the raids and instances down to lower numbers if not solo like DDO. There is other mmos coming that are more popular franchises even if I don't like them or won't play them, but it will just make LOTRO even worse for finding people... even the people who just stand there for 4 hours wasting their life. It'll just be a horrible end. Content created by many designers that never gets seen by people playing is a bad thing. I should know more than anyone here probably.

"Jessicka" on Meneldor is a Level 1 Warden stuck in Archet since (I think) July 2010. If this is you... then no wonder you're having problems finding a group willing to help you.

If you actually display the disparaging, demanding, and entitled attitude above in any way, I don't blame them at all for not helping you. I believe you have no right to expect or demand time or attention from other people playing the game. If they are happily hanging out in 21st, well, it is their game time to do with as they wish. They must be enjoying themselves. Perhaps they are mostly chatting in vent while also watching a football game on TV, you have no idea.

I play on Meneldor, and usually have no trouble finding groups in my Kin OR PUGS. Been pugging GS daily recently on my up and coming RK, have no issues whatsoever finding a group evenings EST. If there are not enough people grouping when you are on, I'd suggest a busier server, as getting the "lazy" people to do things is not going to work. And I'm generally happy to help people out, etc, but it sounds like you are not on when I am.

To my point Jessicka, I see what your problem is, and I agree with what others are saying. Nobody can be forced to group/raid/quest during time that they are paying for. However, if you are getting promises and then those promises broken, just keep trying. I would say that you are more than welcome to join into our kin, as we are only about 4 or 5 active in a given time. Sometimes we get lucky and have enough for a Raid, but that is rare. However, with you playing late night, all but maybe one or two randomly are on late.

Another point here too, if you use a signature for your post or let us knnow what your toon name is through here, someoone that has read your post might recognize you and send a tell. Gotta remember too, lots of people will want to fellow lightly at first before bring you (or anyone pugged for that matter) on a Raid. I have noticed that lots here, and even in our kin, we don't really like pugging since some instances, the group dynamic can make or break the group.

You'll get there, and eventually find the right people. I have been back and forth myself with kin's, and went rogue many times. If you get frustrated, start another toon, lol. (I currently have 9, and SM'd all the crafting for this reason)

its frustrating i know and yea it can feel that way sometimes in game but just remember the game has been around long enough that most people are settled into a kinship and their groups of friends in game. just ask yourself what's more important: having a small kin or doing raids and having high-end-raid-acquired loot?

if the answer is small kin then just stick it out with the lower lvl member's of your kin soon enough you will all be max lvl to group and take on bigger quests. if you work out the classes you can more than likely get lots of things done in game even with a small kin.

if the answer is raids and high end loot then it prolly means some changes. you'll either have to increase your own kinship by recruiting or switch to a more populated server and go from there. a RL friend from my kinship left us for brandywine because he wanted to do raids and PvMP and found Meneldor lacking in those areas for him -- he also played the same hours as you. we haven't heard from him since so we assume he found what he was looking for and is having fun. :) no hard feelings because we all have the right to play as we choose.

i belong to a local and small kinship with RL friends of mine and that's how we prefer it. however we also realize that unless we go out lff'ing we can't do raids with just our kin members. we are willing to let that be because having a smaller kin is more important to us.

good luck if you need help send me a tell if i'm on. i can't promise i will drop what i'm doing to join you immediately but that doesn't mean we can't get stuff done. maybe our small kins can ally together for future raiding and those bigger quests? who knows but trying never hurts :) (edheriel - 65 - hunter & siluin - 48 - runekeeper is my main atm)

I understand the frusteration, but not your attitude. What I have bolded indicates that you have been standing around in 21st hall listening for groups who want to raid. Raiding is something that is not required in this game to enjoy all the content. However, if you want some of the best gear, you may want to consider being proactive and actually saying, looking for people who need 2.4.7 or whatever, form up your own group, and get it done, rather than sit and be frusterated for 4 or 5 hours in 21st. (Personally, I would have to claw my eyes out if I did that. Too many ID 10 Ts there.) Give it 10-15 mins and a few more LFF messages and then move onto some better solo content, or see if whoever did respond has anything else they are working on, unless you want to do the content with a small group who you may have just met and do not trust.

The only way to increase your circle of trust is to go, oh, well, yeah, I already did the stuff at the Dolenview, but I see someone needs help in lff, so I will go back and see how the unknown members of the group does. Or, I already did the level 30 chasing the stupid elf in the Trollshaws my kin needs a tank for, so I will go tank it for him in hopes that some day in the future he will repay me. Either way, you are not sitting around just wishing for things to improve.

As far as the false promises go,, well... welcome to life. People are busy with their own interests and less accountable because it is a game without any real face to face. Even if you help someone, don't do it expecting to get repaid, All you will get is frusterated.

I haven't checked this in awhile, but I am still looking for people late at night. I've done all the solo content there is to do. This other person using my name as a warden isn't me, I just used my real name here. I have multiple 65s, but one I want to focus one specific character.

I understand people might be hesitant to let someone they don't know join but some of the reasons why sound a bit paranoid to me (for a simple game), and as if LOTRO is a military operation when it is perhaps (from a game developers point of view) one of the most simplistic mmorpgs I have encountered in terms if getting from point A to B. I won't go into the rest of the mechanics as those are irrelevant to what I want to do. Still my reasons for playing this are of course being a fan of the franchise but not Turbine, even if it has steered quite far off course and the rest of my reasons are professional curiosity and observations.

I'm not playing to join a group and sabotage the instance. I want to win just as bad. Just like people have the right to log in and stand around not responding to even friendly exchanges of words, I have a right to distance myself from the people I play with especially because of my job, but I should not be exempt from completing simplistic goals in here. All they really need to know is I will do my best.

If people read this and want to give me a shot again this forum has a private message function. Just send me a message and we can meet-up and accomplish something, maybe build a friendship too.

I am Esquire Pendorhir Fairybottoms and I am a fabulous level 65 Champion. Oft times I will traverse Middle-Earth and look for those in need, much like Cane in Kung-Fu. In my travels I have led many into the Great Barrow, harnessed my terrific powers of animal husbandry in Dol Dinen, or defended Trestlebridge in order to bring those with me to a great and powerful climax. As I wander the land I shall be sure to keep an eye out for you if you should be in need. The only payment I ask is a nice comment or two regarding my glorious fashion statements or perhaps a bit of Crisp Delicious Bacon that currently sells for 25g each on the open market, or so I am told.

people are bored, nobody is really interested in running a bunch of old instances anymore, your just caught up in a bad time in lotro right now, were in the middle of a massive recession where turbine has neglected its community and content and people are fed up to the point that playing this game just isnt that appealing anymore, the few people who are out there trying to run instances are new to the game and havnt fully experienced everything yet

21st Hell-hole<---this made me giggle! i mostly play on Landroval but i have a few characters on meneldor, i totally know what you mean about people just standing around camping out, doing NOTHING! they are free to do what they please of course, but it does create lag when so many players congregate in one place to emote each other to death, im thinking to myself, "DO something! or log off for chrissakes! youre slowing me down to a crawl!" but on the other hand its good that the lotro community remains active and robust, thats my 2 cents
