A Night With Zero Complaints (A Jan 03ish Blog)
So, I organized a group for tonight meant to bring together experienced, ranked creeps with warleaders at the forefront of their existence. The idea was that we would support several such warleaders in any way we could... map quests, destiny, and infamy. Being a warleader myself, I knew a raid full of warleaders was instant fail, so I limited the spots to two per group, and built us with our other classes.
We started the night with what I hoped to start with... rank 0 warleaders. There were four at the out-go. We had a few rank 2-5 warleaders as well, and some progressing from rank 6-9.
I asked Maggotstew to lead this group. While it was my idea to form it, I know I cannot lead well and support heal, and Maggotstew is many things. He is fantastically patient, and a great teacher, and responsible for, I have no doubt, many creeps learning to play better. He helped me, WAY back in the day when I was small and new.
We began with the philosophy we would get some DP, some map items, and some infamy. We took off first to Arador's end, and took that outpost.
http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/535...shot00004r.jpg
After this, we headed off to get more map points, but the ultimate goal was rank and bubbles, and we managed to hit a really epic LC fight. A group took the tyrant at South Hill and we rolled right in behind them, defeated that group, and took the keep back within three minutes of the flip.
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/4...shot00005z.jpg
This was a pretty epic feeling, in a group that was fairly the open raid, and had MORE than 6 rank 0s... totally inexperienced on their class. But the cohesion in this raid was phenomenal. Target focus was on point, without question, and unschooled, which is extremely rare in an open raid!
Thanks, again, to Maggot for leading this raid... I spawned the idea, but knew I needed someone else to lead it -- it is very hard to lead as a warleader and support your group as you need to, and reavers are great creep leaders in that manner. We posed for a picture with our noob raid...
http://img602.imageshack.us/img602/6...nshot00006.jpg
In the end, it's a night with zero complaints. Thank you so much to Maggotstew for leading us, and for his teachings and wisdom. I remember when I was new to the server and new to big raids and I learned about directional selectional indicator because he stood there and told me about it. What a patient soul! I'm posting this link, to a video I made of my first Maggotstew raid, as a tribute. You rock, brother.
Here, too, is a quote from tonight: "Death is temporary. Infamy is forever."
And.. just so you know... we ranked 4 new warleaders to bubble level tonight. This raid was win.

Re: A Night With Zero Complaints (A Jan 03ish Blog)
I don't want to be picky but you spelt Maggotstew wrong, it's MAGGOTSTEW. :P
Wish I could have hung around for your raid, you were just forming it when I had to leave :(
Grats on R9 too!

Re: A Night With Zero Complaints (A Jan 03ish Blog)
I have a few complaints, but its all about the entire **** of lag-outs, force-logs and roll-backs my group experienced. It was so epically bad we wanted to avoid alot of good fights. VERY annoyed by this. I couldn't believe how unreasonable it was last night!
But otherwise. I had alot of fun with friends that I hadn't hung out with in a while. Thanks guys for coming out and having fun with me!

Yeah... Roll back city. Thanks Turbine! *high five* I think I lost about ~1000 renown in the couple hour period I was out so I'll be ranking never.
@The OP - Your blog about your raid answers a key question we had at times last night which was "where the duck are they?". Our group spanned 6-8 players at any given time and your presence, or lack there of, was unsettling.

Re: A Night With Zero Complaints (A Jan 03ish Blog)
24 creeps in a raid that disappears for 20 minutes, suddenly rolls over LC and disappears again, runs through TR a few times and disappears again, etc... Ya I was wondering lastnight what the freeps were thinking, and was amused by the confusion I imagined we were causing.
It is always bad when that many creeps get all quiet. You can only assume they are crayoning the walls of TA or some other naughtiness right?
Mostly it was stopping for lessons, walk-throughs on UI configuration, talks on skills/passives, and attempting to find battle in open areas, since there was little chance of that raid taking TR (though we did sort of kind of try). Also keep in mind many could not even map to grams, so there was much time spent running.
Good job teaching maggot. Nice job listening, following directions, and staying in a close group to all who were in the raid. I may get frustrated at the lack of hard-core freep murdering, but raids like lastnight are how you train people to raid, and I hope they continue. We may see raid vs raid as a viable Landroval moors style once again, just as it was when I was green 3 years back.
Oh... PS freeps....
STOP FOCUS FIRING SNOOKUMZ! It is much better to focus fire Dinnerplate instead, and let snookumz live. When he runs at you with his arms in the air, it is to give you a hug, and you nasty mean freeps shoot him for it.. besides, it is the nasty Uruk that told him to go give you hugs anyhow. Why shoot the messenger?
thank you

As you were able to glean, Snook, from the first moments as the group was getting formed up and I had to immediately point it out, it was necessary to get everyone used to something they would see a lot of: YOUR CORPSE! As your warleader, despite my best efforts to the contrary, I have become quite accustomed to your corpse, occurring only slightly less frequently than Dreddwarg's, and have come to the conclusion that there simply are not enough bubbles in Sauron's creation to keep your blasted hide alive! :)
Erm, and PS, Don't focus fire Dinnerplate! Dinner likes to feel happy and useful and actually get her heals off. Mmk?Thanx.

This^ Pretty much sums up my thoughts last night as well. Eo, Valahn and I all lost about 1,000 renown last night and all spawned back in LC at the same moment. I couldn't figure out why we were pushing so hard with the freep pop buff but this explains it.

Idk if it's just my impression or actual reality, but everytime I turned around it seemed as though Snookumz was either targeting me or hitting me. Thankfully many of those encounters went my way. If you don't want to die as often, pick a different target. ;)

Re: A Night With Zero Complaints (A Jan 03ish Blog)
come away from your 45 million friends and i may not die so much when fighting you. I suppose charging into a freep raid alone might prevent my death on occasion as well, but woudl be far less fun. Besides, I got you all to chase me into an ambush twice, and 2 other times i bought time for my whole raid to escape while 12+ freeps stopped for me on the way to TA ford.
I prefer to kill RKs and LMs first, but last night for some reason, champs were on the single target assist in the WL raid, hence much Leekae chopping.

Because I know you're one to run away, so I try to kill you before you turn around and run.
And, yeah, I'm always on your target too, heh.

The roll backs seem to be happening alot more lately, both Freep and Creep sides. I hear folks creepside talk about it alot and have experienced it myself, but only a couple times. I'm starting to see more and more freeps stating about roll backs in the forums as well.
I don't really raid alot on freepside and have never experienced it on that side, but has anyone had that happen to them while doing PvE? Just wondering.

Dinner asked us to play nice so I'll try. However, I have one point. A white hand reaver asking for me to get away from my 45million friends when 75% I'm in a duo, 20% I'm solo and 5% I'm either in or leading a raid. Lawlz!
Snookums, you constantly re-affirm my thought that since you've been posting here, you are clearly unaware of what happens in the moors in general based on your comments.
As for asking for a 1v1, look for me, I'm around every day! :)

Just gonna let you know, being a comrade in arms of Snookumz, I can tell you he isn't afraid of duos, solos, or small groups, and is actually a recent member of the White Hand who has played in possibly two WH raids. All his experience and rank before that comes from the aforementioned sorts of groups and fights. I also find him to be very aware of what happens in the Moors, and more the kind of fighter many freeps have been wishing rolled around in the zone. He actually has a really annoying habit of logging out when the groups are big raids, and even more than 12, which sometimes are necessary and not always fun. I'm not turning drone mode on here and trying to reinforce arguments, but I feel like it does merit stating objective observation. While some might not think a WH Warleader can be objective, times have changed. I got the last 70k of my recent rank in groups that 9/10 times never exceeded 12, much of it in groups of 6, and some of it solo. Snook has been right there along with me. I see a lot more things now than I used to, about a lot of different playstyles.

Re: A Night With Zero Complaints (A Jan 03ish Blog)
Much Props to the Lady Uruk-Hai Warleader Dinnerplate for ranking to 9 !!! Awesome job orginizing us and the WL lessons you merited out.
Everyone performed exceptionally well. Direction was followed superbly; it harkend to days passed when the Morrs ran like a well oiled machine and the Creeps were a force to be reckoned with.
We spent alot of time exploring the Morrs even killing the CG at Ost though the Creeps controlled both Relics. Our TR run throughs were the most fun, its a reminder to Freeps that no where in the Morrs are Freeps safe even if they hide or guard keeps. And you have to admit that it's more fun then standing at TR Pew Pewing each other, Orginized Chaos ;)
It was an honor and a pleasure to lead the raid and help a new generation of players get a hold of the basics of PvMP.
As the Emissary it is my duty to serve the Eye and what better form then to whip into shape a new contingency of troops for the Eyes.

Almost every time I see you out, you are in a duo with Jaiyne. A minny and a champ. I love it. I will never be a good enough player to beat that duo 2v1, but still, cudos for sticking with your toons and not rolling RKs. You are both good players and have no need. I have only played my guardian in the moors 3 or 4 times since I came back to the game recently, because with LIs etc, I do not find it challenging. I am actually working up a champ alt for the purpose.
The one time I found you truly solo was in HH, and I was on my r4 warg working on maps. I fought you until I died. I came back and tried again, but without all my cooldowns I did worse than the first time and sprinted off (map was down) to keep picking up sticks.
My comment about 45 million friends was in the context of the night in question. You had at LEAST a full raid backing you up that night. Why you, and others, like to take my statements out of context is beyond me. I am sorry if I did not spell out that context with 3 pages of disclaimer. Perhaps I do not communicate clearly, but I think it more likely that there is a certain need or desire for drama to perpetuate.
What my TWH tag has to do with anything is totally beyond me, aside from the above mentioned need for dramatics. I take my tag as a compliment/recognition of my ability to work with a team, and to understand tactics, be it a small group or a raid, because I would not have my tag without that ability. I suppose I am asking for hate by wearing it, though I am unaware of whatever past drama that caused the hate.
Finally, let me just clarify for those who did not understand,.. My comment about "do not focus fire snookumz" was intended as slightly tongue-in-cheek humor. I thought that intent to be obvious when I wrote it, but apparently it was not. It was not a complaint, not a whine, not a statement to be taken seriously at all, aside from a veiled compliment on freep focus fire the night in question. Perhaps I should have made that comment speaking like an orc to be more clear in its humorous intent.
Hopefully this clears up any misunderstanding once and for all, and we can get back to the thread. I hope many of the new warleaders learned a lot that night and will choose to become the backbone of a new era of creep open raiding in the moors. Creep classes have fairly narrow roles, and the warleader is the main support role, especially for reavers. Back in the day, when landy was raid vs raid every night, new creeps learned all of the ropes quickly. Nowadays, it takes people like maggot and dinner and the other experienced players who helped out that night to host training raids. Keep it up creeps!
One thing I have always raved about in regards to this server is the community and the willingness to help and teach. I have been doing end game MMOs and PVPing for 10 years, and ever since I played on Landy 3 years ago, it has been my best example of community, be it the advice channel or night like this one, where people take their play time to teach others. I hope it continues, and continues to be paid-forward.

Interestingly enough, I have a RK (had her before Jaiyne even, heh). But she is strictly a healer and I don't much 'Moor with her unless I really need a change of pace :)
Yes, we duo and get rolled by groups 2-12x our numbers many, many times nightly. Then, we get some great fights too from time to time. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. We both love our characters - much like you love yours on both sides. It's very cool you're rolling a champ, as I honestly cannot think of a more challenging class to play in the Moors solo or small grouped. There are like 3 consistently active champs in the 'Moors right now. They get my serious respect :)

Re: A Night With Zero Complaints (A Jan 03ish Blog)
Overall, it was a fun night. The only real thing that bothered me was that WL's were bugged with the thing where they couldn't die. It was dumb that they were bugged, because the lil' greenies looked so tasty! But, it went from me feeling bad for them to me being a little annoyed. It's bad to be bugged out, yes, but it's worse to use a bugged out WL to take keeps or bugged out WLs, I should say, cause I think there was more than one. But yes, a fun night over all minus towards the end!
EDIT: And then later on that night we saw one of the WL's who was bugged and he must have relogged to get rid of it after taking back the keeps, cause we could damage him then. Made me a sad panda :(

Don't mean to nitpick, but this made me haz a sad. Some (notice I didn't say many lol) of us rolled RKs back at the start of MoM before anyone knew their potential. In all honesty, I didn't really know what I was getting into. I just wanted to start a new toon in a new place and thought the brand new RK class would be fun because I had never played a light armor toon before (can't stand LMs and pets). Little did I know my RK would turn out to be a loose cannon OP creep killer.
But that sentiment goes for my Reaver as well. My Reaver has been sitting at R8 since MoM 2.7 because there just isn't any challenge to playing the class for me anymore. However, I don't begrudge anyone for playing the class of their choice. Especially given Turbine's history, where capabilities of classes wax and wane at the drop of a nerfbat in each new update.
On a side note, if you don't like RKs, you won't be happy to know that the leveling areas are currently full of nothing but RKs, Wardens and LMs. lol So there will certainly be more hitting the zone in the future.

Come now. If people didn't generalize about the fail of others, how could they possibly make themselves look superior without actually being superior?

It was most definitely obvious. People make statements like that all the time, and with your comedic tone, it was more obvious than most that you meant nothing by it save for jest.

Not knowing this person specifically, how is one to know when they are or not being comedic?
As for the actual targetting issue in general, I wouldn't have made a comment at all had people not mentioned it to me as it was heppening.

I can tell you with one-hundred percent honesty that no one in my raid used any kind of bug to take a keep. I am not sure what you're talking about, but the couple of times the bug happened, we were no-where near a keep, and we had to relog to fix it. Yes, it's real annoying, because not only can we not be killed, but WE CAN'T HEAL! So, does that help us? No. It is very easy to tell when you have the bug, and relogging takes even longer - you get caught up in the 'cleaning up old connection' screen and may or may not get back in within 20 minutes. So...like I said... I don't know who you saw, but they were not in my raid.

Ahh thank you for clearing that up! I normally don't post on the forums, but that sorta made me want to say something in hopes whoever did it doesn't do it again (assume they read the forums).
See you on the battle field, Dinner :)

Awesome you and Maggot helped the newer creeps, they were almost hopeless :p
To everyone in question of Jaiyne and Leekae not being in a raid all the time, YES it's true accept the fact. I've had countless 1v1s with Jaiyne where she blew my *** up. I've had quite a few with Leekae even, I think all of them get interrupted EVERYTIME by a wandering creep /raaaage

I spent all of that day packing, loading, unloading, and unpacking boxes in accordance with the manual of requirements for moving from one side of Lake Tahoe, I mean Singapore, to the other; so no Warleader raiding for Ug. =(

Since this post was made, a funny thing has happened. I've found you alone while I was solo twice. Both times someone you were most likely grouped with has interfered (aka Dinner). So what gives? Last night specifically I found you near the Ta ford, I threw up Cb and shouted you. We fought for a few seconds and then dinner comes in.
So my question is, do you want to fight me 1v1? I just want to clear this one up so I know if I see you not to expect it and act accordingly.
