Turbine Pax East Fan Appreciation Party! Friday March 22, 2013

Join us Friday, March 22, 2013 from 8:30 PM to 12:30 PM At Jillian’s Boston. Meet members of the AC, DDO, and LOTRO dev teams. The buffet will be loaded up with great munchies, including some vegetarian offerings and of course there will be great swag and raffles for those that attend. You might be lucky enough to walk away with a lifetime subscription to the game of your choice or other great door prizes. Plus, if you’re one of the first 200 people through the door, we’ll buy your first drink (beer, wine, or soft drinks)!

Due to venue requirements you must be 21 or older with proper ID to attend this event. You do not need a PAX East pass to attend, but you must have your invitation/tickets from Turbine to enter the event. You must RSVP to receive your tickets. Send requests to rsvp@turbine.com

Space is limited; tickets are first come, first served so RSVP today!

Note: Still and video photography will be used during this event and images and video footage may be posted to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and others. Tickets do not guarantee entry. Swag, free drinks and other items are limited to the first 200 guests.

No you do not.

The way it works is we reply to those who RSVP with a link to register for the party and request/print the actual tickets. Once you've done that you're actually in. We usually wait a couple of days after the announcement before the first set of email invitations go out.

You DO need to bring your printed tickets, or a digital version of them on your smart phone/ipad/etc, when you arrive at the event.

Wow! Talk about partying all night long... and into the next day!

I could have easily done a 16 hour party when I was 20... but alas... those days are over for me.

I guess when Turbine unleashes you guys from your desks, you take full advantage of it.

Is Turbine even going to be at PAX itself this year? They released the floor map and I don't see a Turbine booth anywhere.

We do not have a booth on the floor. I can tentatively confirm a half dozen devs along with Senior Producer Aaron Campbell and Executive Producer Kate Paiz will be at our fan appreciation party. And based on the stack of boxes that just showed up... a lot of swag will also be in attendance.

My son is going to be bummed.

I just saw this announcement a few days ago, and sent in my RSVP.
Will there be a second wave of tickets? Seeing Turbine is really the only reason I want to drive 15 hours to get to Boston :) PAX will be sweet, but c'mon - it's not Lotro!

There have been a few waves already, but yes there is at least one more group of invitations that will be going out by the end of this week.

It's a little early to start thinking about the end of the summer (hey we're still expecting SNOW here). I'm guessing you missed us last year? If so, you missed a lot. It was one of our biggest parties yet (though considering how quickly we sold out and that ticket requests are STILL coming in for PAX East... this might top them all). It was also the only place you could get the very cool Rohan Tees we made just for that event.

Im very very intrigued as to what this could be. Is there a WB booth you guys are going to be at or anything since there isnt a Turbine one this year?

There is no booth, but the codes for the gift will be given out at the party. I'll also have them on me and will be wandering the show floor most of the day on Saturday (I'll be wearting a LOTRO Hoodie to make it a little easier to find me) with a big pile of them as well.

Important updates for our event.

We are sold out. In fact, we're more than sold out. So make sure you get there on time or you'll miss out on the swag and possibly have to wait until others leave before we can let you in. Fortunately there are other floors and bars you can hang out in while the crowd thins out a bit.


If you do not bring your ticket, either a printed copy or a digital copy via your smart phone or eventbrite app, you will not be allowed in. Period. Space is limited and only those with tickets will be allowed to enter.

If you were lucky enough to snag a VIP ticket (slightly less than 1 in 4 tickets are VIP), here are a couple of pointers.

• It has nothing to do with your account status.
• Your ticket will say VIP instead of GUEST.
• It lets you skip the general line, but you may end up in the VIP line (it will be MUCH shorter).
• You get 2 drink tickets instead of 1, but if they're gone they're gone. So get there early!

Also, Jeromy Adams of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Kerry Demone of Boston Children's Hospital will be joining us. Extra Life 2013 is kicking off and they wanted to thank the folks that drove us to an incredible total lat year. I'll also have a little kitty set up to kick off my efforts, so if you have a couple of bucks to drop in the til, we'll add it all up and add it to the total here as "PAX Player Donations" or something similar.

Thanks to everyone who turned out for our event. We all had a blast. We also raised $232 for Extra Life, and I'm rounding that up to an even $250. Thanks to everyone who pitched in!

I'm also super proud to pass along something the staff at Jillian's mentioned to me at the endof the night. The staff volunteers for our party (Same staff 3 years running now!) because we have the "most polite and enjoyable guests."

I had such a blast on Friday night meeting everyone! This is by far the highlight event of PAX East for me and I am already counting down the days until next year.

Thank you for the wonderful time. It was very nice to meet you folks in real life. You are a great crew and bring us a wonderful game. Thank you for taking the time to celebrate it, and PAX, with us.

The best bit, in my thoughts, was Sapience's comment about the IRL RNG being broken during the raffle :-D And I thought it was really, really funny to see [Swag Lootbox] contained... a banner (among other things). All we needed was a battered ring.... I actually plan to hang my banner in my cube at work as soon as I clear off a big enough space.

Great party guys and I sincerely hope to see you folks at next year's PAX East!

It was, as always, great to talk with the devs and meet some of my fellow players. It was a special pleasure to see how players and Turbine staff share enthusiasm for LotRO and our Middle-earth. Thanks not only for the party but for all you do to create something extraordinary for us all, the Turbine gang and the players alike.

Returning to reality, such as it is, after an awesome PAX East weekend is taking some time here. But even if it's a tad late, I, too would like to thank those at Turbine for hosting us at Friday's party. I thought that being able to meet the producers, devs, and engineers behind the game would be interesting. What I didn't expect was that I would be able to have such great conversations with them. Special thanks go to Amlug, Ransroth, and most especially Rowan. I still hope I didn't take up too much of your time, but I greatly enjoyed all of the conversation. Please be nice to burglars. :)

Thank you for arranging things, Sapience, and for the coffee, still. Speaking of drinks, any chance I could get the recipe for the Watcher in the Water?
