Circle of life, homes. Lifespans on servers cycle like this. Ridder happened to have a longer run than most. Most players, rather good or not, left to other servers that have pvp. It happens
R.I.P. old-school Riddermark.
Cheers and ./salute. I have to say, at the risk of needing a tampon, Ridder holds some pretty incredible memories for me. Most good, some awful. But still memorable. Several years ago, I think Ridder was at the pinnacle of PvP on all servers, and kept it going for a couple years. Thru horribad tribes and kins, countless zergging leaders, several genius leaders, baddies, campers, 1v1ers (Haldabash), soloers and groupies, power house tribes like Legion coming here, and polar opposite kins like CoM and AUP building action, blind sheep and stubborn window campers. This hodge podge collection of xfers and natives made quite the unique PvP setting.
If I hada 40 oz, I'd be pouring it on the ground for my homies

In reality Shrek would get ganked by a warg pack at 00:23.
Parabolical and I will be coming back shortly. Im screwing around on my burg until i figure out the rohan expansions. Not to say we are good, but we always love starting trouble.
A lot of the older guys have left the game or server, but there are still plenty of moderately-new and new players on RM. I made over 30k renown yesterday (in 7 hours of play). I played my creep Friday night and made 20k infamy (as did all those grouped with me). My burg went from r10 to r11 in under a week. It's a crying shame we no longer can show the statistics to prove some of these doomsayers wrong.
Everyday I have seen 1v1, group v group, RvR action on RM (at different hours of the day). With a lot of the drama queens gone, the moors has become a friendlier place and more creeps/freeps solo/small group now. There are a lot of freeps above rank 10. There has been tons of new blood coming in on both sides, as Turbine has made RM a suggested server to incomers.
Basically, if you want action on RM, you will find it any weeknight or weekend. If all you care about is finding the last dozen or so who used to play on RM a long time ago, you will need to xfer to Landy or BW or any of the other half a dozen servers they have ended up on.
Ultimately, don't let these guys tell you subscription year = experience or action. There have been so many changes to the classes, half those "older" guys no longer know their own class. Come and take a sampling of the evenings and weekends for yourself.
PS A little nostalgia in a game is cute ... but there comes a point where it just comes off as "depressing" (edited as my first choice in words was too harsh).
The action has been good, but the quality of fights has gone down drastically, I 3v1ed a hunter, champ and cappy, all red ranks but I killed 2.5 of them, then kur came in and finished the last one. My point is, PvP has gotten too easy when you play smart, or even charge into a fraid to kill a few squishies alone as I enjoy doing.
I find myself able to win most 1v1s, you are not one of the most Cosst, but I miss 1v1s with the old people, even when I knew I stood no chance, but it's fun to play with the same groups of people. Enough complaining, these noobs make great infamy, I'm only 25k from r9 thanks to their many generous offerings.
The irony of your words is not lost.
Can you for real not see the double standard in your words, as you preach to others how not to play and feel? Curious, I think. Since this was neither a troll thread nor a "hey look at me, the attention #####" thread. Pity some people can't let others share the spotlight for fear of one's own ego not being boosted.
You seek to speak for the server, and put words in mouths of those who were here since the server opened. Yet tell the people on Ridder how they should feel and think?
I agree with you. Pity some people care more about quantity than quality ;) Anyone can farm 30k a day on a faceroll easy mode class and call it great pvp. Or farm troll the same greenie BA leaving Grams over and over and over and over and call it a great hour. Lul
Well at least some things haven't changed.
Costs is still good for lols.
Now who is putting words into who's mouth? How is inviting others to participate in RM pvmp dictating how they should feel or think? In fact, inviting them is exactly how they can form their Own views/opinions of RM pvmp.
If you want to mark off everyone who kills you in the 30 minutes you log on every week as "ez-moders" and poor quality, that's your call. But don't try to convince others not to come out because you're too sour to try anymore.
I went away at cap65, sorry =(
Newb perspective...
I first set foot in the moors on Jan. 1st and have been having a blast for the last month.
Don't know a thing about old glory days but I still have fun.
I group with newbs like myself and eventually we will get better... and hope to have fun in the process.
So I guess I'd say it isn't all doom and gloom on Ridder PVMP.
As has been mentioned before the action on Ridder is different than it has been since everyone began leaving recently. The action is still there, not in the quantities of landy or brandy, but there nonetheless and good fights can still be had. It has been a refreshing change of pace to be having fights all over the map instead of the usual grams camp. And yes the quality/talent of players on both sides has diminished with many leaving, especially on freepside. While the potential for good pvp here is still a possibility, hopefully the newer crop of players on both sides will help Ridder rebound into something like it was in its better days.
And I disagree with you cost on this notion that there are far more soloers now. Solo imo isn't following around a group and fighting what they fight or sitting at the grams camp or rez camp and fighting with no chance of dying... Solo imo is roaming the map looking for your opponent and fighting what you find to the death... even if you are outnumbered. There are only a handful of true soloers left imo.
And with regards to the amount of renown being made nowdays... comparing the numbers of today to the ones in ROI or before are just stupid. With the inflated numbers from the keep buffs, delving buffs, DP buffs, and 100% renown buffs in a short days work if there are hoardes of greenies out a person should make 20-30k relatively easily. Renown numbers in no way reflect the true quantity of pvp happening on a server imo.
Heres to hoping I run into more small groups and soloers in the near future on my hunter. If anyone is looking for a fight I am usually hiding by sitting on my horse at gta or out roaming around searching for you.
Best of luck
Bralleg
Heya Wulf. Good to see you back posting.
One thing I can say as a new freep who dies a lot - the PvMP portion of the game is the only level cap fun I can find these days. I don't know much about the good old days either to be be honest; I was pretty much a loner creepside in the short time I was there. Fun is what you make of it though, and it is genuinely refreshing to find something challenging to do, that requires relearning how to play (or at least how to suck less), after facerolling two characters through HD.
this thread has more action then what i saw the last few weeks i played out there. but i can imagine it picked up a bit since then. unfortunately my champ and cappy are prolly officially retired for good from the moors as i can't see myself investing any money into this game anymore. i didn't transfer or delete my reaver though and he's a freebee so it's possible he gets thirsty for bralleg's blood one day. more likely i log into a terrible camping situation and remember why i stopped playing again. lol
I am back, but I have to admit to being far from good. Stupidly squishy in red line, nigh invincible in yellow. Sigh...only 39k to Commander and then I'll reassess.
No one else can vouch for seeing you anywhere, and the rest here are no longer on the server or play (outside of forum pvp ... the only place/people who know your name anymore).
Only tears I see is your qq on the forums that keep you away from the game. But alas, I will leave you and your fellows to each others nostalgic cry-fest and return to the game. The long gone and left out with you can provide enough lip service to keep you thinking you're (or ever were) a successful player.
You two should just #### and be done with it.
He's real mad. U MAD U BAD, Cost.
Why does anyone need someone to "vouch" for them? Just because you or your butt buddies don't see him, doesn't mean he's not there. Same with me, Cost. People know our names everywhere, as Tbow puts it "[we] were PvP'ing while you were humping trees in Cheetwood."
DS II?
DS II?[/QUOTE]
It's an amazing game that is going to be released in March, and it shall consume me. You should play the first one, Ren.
Have you finished the first one, Kaize?
Funnily enough, No. I've experienced it all through Youtube though. When I got to the Four Kings, I gave up because I couldn't stand running down the same path to get to him anymore. Took too much time without any gratification, so it's whatever. I'll have a fresh start like everyone else though when DS II comes out, and hopefully I'll master it early on.
You chose to quit entirely because of one boss, rather than try any of the other three available to you? Why?

If you want challenging gameplay, oh yeah. IIRC, mouse + keyboard is not the recommended control scheme, a game controller works much better
So things are pretty much the same as before Christmas?
yep alot good times were had on ridder and the game aswell. i remember the first few freeps to push out of gv when the server launched..myself,mayo,kyla,boo mie, rubi, autumn, meleo,
im sure some others i cant remember. f2p pretty killed this game and lack of decent content..7 yrs aint bad for an mmo,was hard for me to stop playin to many good times and good peeps. just waitin on eso to launch..been fun fightin with or against some of u .
peace out
rush/skeptik
yea that was good times to ...hows the gw2 going carli? im pretty much over that game aswell
I'm still chugging along. 2 legendaries and 7 lvl 80s... Im pretty much wore out lol Been waiting on the big class balance patch and sigil/rune changes but I guess I'll have to wait a while longer for that. EotM was this week but the new map is zerg central, no place for a roamer. In the mean time I'll just play in the TESO beta this weekend :D
what server is that on carli? ...im on dragonbrand with a good guild full of x lotro ers...tryin to get our server back to t2
I'm back, for awhile at least. Not that I fit the bill of being good :P
Some decent fights out there today.
Who is this Carli dude?
:P
I logged into lotro today. Why? I'm not sure at all.
it's not just transfers- a lot of good players leave the game entirely because there is nothing else to do but solo BBs/Afk BBs/fight the same creeps on the same 7 year old map/etc. Lack of group/raiding content is really what drove players away.
If I may make a more precise statement... it comes down to a lack of ANY type of engaging content to keep us here. What is a solo player going to do at endgame? boring BBs? Vertical progression in this game is only to get you to the store to "correct" poor game development choices and lateral progression is nothing but TP farming if u can call it that. I'm active probably 2-3 months out of the last 12 but there's no incentive for me to lvl past 50-60.
I see Cosst is back playing. /wave. What made you changed your mind on ESO, anything to do with it going F2P in march?
Rubi, TBow, Boom, Becky, Als, Bonnie, Clydello, Carli (my apprentice). I miss playing with ya'll. When I log in to playu now I dont even hit the moors anymore. We had some quality and fun pvp back then. I miss you all
