It really does look like it will be more "see ya over there" than 'goodbye' for many, which will be good for many of us who have friends in different kins. For those going separate ways best to you on your new servers.

I tried to contact Rhunen Rendir through a couple of the members. That nobody was there we are sorry you missed it, but there will be another meeting Friday Aug 7 8PM Eastern U. S. time. Rhunen Rendir is important to Silverlode and we would love to hear your voice about transfer if Silverlode does close. If nobody is able to attend the next meeting you can vote posting in the forum here or can send message to Zadhiel or Tiggerr. Meghanne can also answer some questions as she has been very helpful in this as has Amaanda.

At the last meeting we discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the different servers. Any questions about those please feel free to ask. If your kin comes to a decision then the lead can appoint someone to tell us the vote if the kin lead is not able to attend but wishes someone else to be there. We look forward to hearing your decision and value any input you have in this. It is very good to hear from you!

Gladden had some good input. A couple have had not great experience there and a couple had good experience there. Word about Landroval: They do role play, but do not require it of others. They only ask nobody make fun of them. They are helpful to newcomers, free-to-play players, good people overall, and the server has many player made events for when we want to relax. Cricckhollow was also discussed. The best reviews of servers by players who play on different servers were by far of Landroval.

didnt even know most of these kins even existed still... btw i expect everyone to be trying to transfer to landy so itll become the new brandy even though it has half the population atm. I doubt people here really want that

TBH not pvp related. It's the best option for general friendliness and great player created content.
Alot of people should start enjoying themselves again with just the the social aspect of the Landy server in general.

They were also taken on Brandywine, not that it's an option for transfers in the first place. From talking to my casual kinmates, Arkenstone or maybe Gladden will be our destination.

Now I'm wondering what those names are. I play most often but I have 21 chars on Landy. Some of them I really want to keep but would release some of the others if I knew it would enable you to go with your friends.

No one on Landy will be bothered by the kin name, btw ... they seem to adore anything food-realted :) People seem to have the impression of it being a place full of RP nazis ... so far from the truth. It's something a portion (minority) of the population participate in, if/when they feel like it.
Regarding your character names, the question is not whether or not the names are taken there, but rather whether or not the Landy characters with those names have logged on within the past year. If not, you'll be able to usurp the names, unless someone else with the names xfers there before you.
To this purpose, this past week I visited the smallest closing worlds to create level 1 characters with the names I wish to maintain. They'll be transferred to Landy first, to hold my names, and then be replaces when Silverlode xfers open at the end of the year.
I'd just suggest people create a new character on Landy tonight, show up to Ales and Tales tonight or visit one of the other scheduled events, and see if you like it or hate it. If it's not for you, go where you think you'll be happy. But I suggest you don't assume you'll not like it without first checking it out :)

On paper and how Turbine has stated how server transfers go...the dynamics has changed a bit. For one we are one of the last three servers to be opened up for transfers...before us alot of servers could exit to Landy thus eating up housing logging issues etc.Plus we need solid players from Gladden,Crick,and Ark to say what is pro and con about their servers.Maybe at coalition vote we make a list of servers we want to transfer to..for example if Brandy and Landy is off the tables what would be our second choice or 3rd choice if need arises.

I agree it's smart to have an alternate server chosen should Landy be closed to inbound traffic. I don't think it will, but it is a possibility. I think Gladden is the one consensus seemed to choose for this role last Friday ... it will be interesting to see it that continues to be the case this Friday; I'm guessing it will. Sorry, I can not speak to the nature of those three, as I've not spent considerable time there.
Regarding housing, go level something to 15 now, if you like, only takes and hour or two. Let me know and I'll supply the gold for the house.

Theozor and Brau are both taken (Brau has been taken since launch, not sure how long Theozor's been in use). Thanks for the offer, but I think my Hobbit and Smeagol-obsessed son will get his way and we'll move to Arkenstone or Gladden. I was able to grab all four of my "important" names on both of them last week anyway.

I definitely agree that people should check out all the possible servers before picking one. I've checked out all the servers that looked likely to remain open, not only to see if my "important" names were available, but also to see what the communities were like.

Followed someones link from another post on Crickhollow forums linking us who play on Crick to come here and offer some helpful words. I play regularly on Crick, not sure how well I can answer, I'll try my best. I had responded to a post already on Crickhollow forums about some questions, I'll copy/paste it here below. Hope it'll help some here. Good Luck in your decision. I also play on Landy as well and it was our kins top choice for server if Crick had biten the dust. But as a player on Crick, I've never ran into any issues on the server. It's been like the Shire, a peaceful & quiet place, with "some" helpful kins who are more than happy to help out. (Who knows what it'll be like when the bandwagon arrives with thousands of players, hehe).

Could be better, but it's somewhat active. Kinda dead in some spots and players selling mats are making a killing in gold. Hopefully with the wave of transferring players, will bring back much supply and lower the sky high prices.

It's was quite common though up until a few weeks ago, to get those world buffs from PvMP activity, so it definitely has remained somewhat active.

There are events done currently by Second Breakfast on a weekly basis. They're holding a big server event, Shirefest 2015, on August 14th-17th. A time to celebrate and welcome new/transferring players with an amazing lineup of bands.
At one time, we had lots of RP kins on this server, but as population slowly declined, some of the RPs moved to Landroval or Laurelin, BUT we still have a few RP kins and there is still some light RP'ing going on from time to time at the weekly Second Breakfast events.
Other stuff... World chat is never a boring place if you like all that crazy chat stuff and there are weekly RTs going on.

someone ask to post about ark in this thread ..pros and cons

we as server were bit unsure if we would make it or not...we are aware that poeples favorites might be gladen or landy due to their standing at the top 3 in population ...biggest con, that we will be consider as last choice

ark is a social server that enjoys good chatter in wc. we dont specialized in server wide event, although kin wide events are comun . we have a core of raiders that would most welcome more people to take on t2c . there's healthy creep numbers, with a very active creep tribe and action been constant...some days more than others, other days quiet. freeps are mostly casual ...in pvp terms we really want players to come in so we can have more classes available , more times of days of action , and more experienced freeps ...there's lack of 1v1 in ark as it is now ..mainly raid, or 6v6 or small group ..been in ark for over 4 years

we are hoping that people will choose ark , as it will have more room to welcome those looking a not so crowed land..although i cant see that staying like that for much , well see

I am a long time member of Arkenstone. I will list my perception of the server. Pros and cons are all relative to preferred gameplay.

Ark is a very social server. People are very generous and very helpful to everyone in and out of kin.

Over the last couple of years the AH has deteriorated significantly to where it mainly only carries top level gear or crafting resources. Lower level items placed on the AH typically expire even at trash prices.

PVP has its good and bad days. I have recently been in skirmishes with 40-50 players. I have also logged on some days where I am lucky to encounter more than a couple players of either faction.

Much of my time has been spent in single player leveling on several different toons. I seldom encounter other players and never had any problems completing quests because we were all competing for the same resources. Group and Small-party quests are for the most part impossible to find others on the same quest to help. I don't even bother with the roving encounters.

I haven't been involved in the end game content in over a year so I don't know how it currently stacks.

Load times are quick. Lag is minimal. Most towns are fairly empty.


All of this will change drastically as people start to transfer over, regardless of where you choose. Arkenstone will certainly have sufficient space where you won't feel crowded, your character and kin names are more likely available, and you can be a more dominant force in determining the atmosphere of the server.

I have toons on all servers. I've never had reason to not like Crick or the people on it.

As a member of the community on Landroval I would like to suggest individual and Kinships consider our server as they new home.

Landroval is not a raiding server, nor a heavy PvMP server. Nor would some disgruntled ultra-heavy-RP types be pleased at the prospect of having to come back after stomping out the door when they opened the Euro-zone servers, or added new ones in NA. Rather what you would find among our Kinships, even if you aren't a member of them, is that there are a lot of friendly, welcoming people who love the game, the Lore and just getting lost in Middle year. My own is Sons of Numenor. But whichever you join, or if your entire Kinship moves to Landroval, you will find the grass is green and the community among the most special in MMORPGs.

At some point we'll have hats and jackets.

Thank you to all from other servers who have come to let us know we are welcome on your servers and many of you are essentially throwing out a welcome mat. Given this servers age that will help quite a bit as many, even if all their friends end up the same place, are attached to Silverlode. We appreciate the warm invitation and the preparations some have made in anticipation of other players joining your community. You letting us know what your servers are like certainly does help.

As things are we have voted a certain direction, but math is math is math and is sometimes unforgiving so we will see what happens. If Dev notes state that all destinations will remain open for the duration of transfers and one is not overloaded and closed there should be no problem. Let's just hope this goes well.

As it is, we are seeing representatives from other servers being very encouraging and to see others reaching out to say 'it is a good place and you are welcome to join us' hey that is great to see. I cheer for your way of handing this somewhat stressful issue. All the servers are appearing better now than what they had before because of the people such as yourselves reacting in this way.

That you come to give good word of each of your servers is well timed as such. Thank you very much! Those of us who will choose to stay together can feel better about all options given your time and consideration in this matter.

Because RR have not decided yet. My little Kin "Friends of the Nine" was thinking Landroval but am leaning towards Gladden or Arkenstone. Sounds to me that everyone and their cousin is going to Landy and that is a little too many for my taste, although I would miss a lot of you like crazy.

Thank you for the updates both of you. Glad to hear Nazgun going Landroval. And yeah what you say about Friends of the Nine not going with the rest missing some of us, is why this is being done. Looking up and seeing Lords of the Brotherhood, Nazgun, Hispania, etc around on another server well it would feel like . . . home to many of us. Whichever way you decide i hope it works out great for you. If there at Landy, give me a wave by all means :)

Our little weeny kin "the Minds of Moria" is still undecided, though I've ruled out Arkenstone as my main toon's name is not available and I've been using that name since Everquest. Since there are only 3 active members of our kin left, I doubt we will make a big impact on the transfer.

Can someone tell me if lotro knows about the coalition of kins. I'm concerned that Landy might fill up (slow down the server) and they close it to the later transfers. They may not be able to do anything about it, but then we will have a better idea of where our future lies.

I'm told that there is no issue with enough space or capacity (speed) of the server. Landry, here we come

Not that I think you guys will remember me but I transferred of slode at lvl 85 and you all prob don't care at all but I'm going to arkenstone with my kin. When I first started playing I played on slode made a lot of friends. At lvl 85 I transferred off slode to nimrodel it was a tough choice to make and it was hard. Would be nice to maybe see some old friends on arkenstone!

Not that it changes anything about the choices kinships/players have already made, but I re-read the thread and noticed references to Brandywine not being an option.

My understanding of the dev blog is that only off-world transfers are available initially. When Brandywine is moved to the new server and has become stable, incoming player transfers will be allowed.

Just for information... I'll try to find the reference and link it if anyone is interested. I'm still going for Landroval until/unless friends change their minds or I found out something really nurgly about Landroval which is unlikely - it looks like a good fit.

What I don't understand is why new housing areas aren't being created on the surviving worlds which are reserved for automatic transfers of houses to the same addresses (maybe different homestead names) in the new areas before anyone can buy a new house in them. That would mean an existing neighborhood would move without the deadwood of the ghost town houses. I mean we bought and abandoned a BUNCH of houses to acquire just the right real estate over the years so it seems sad that we won't be able to get anything like as good a group of houses in the same neighborhoods. But that's an entirely different matter and off topic... just a little quiet rant I guess :D

Some word had come around about Brandywine being an option. When word about the different servers came for how they were people were leaning toward the overall feel of Landroval during the coalition meetings (those were BIG meetings), especially descriptions given during the first meeting. Brandywine does have some advantages as do all the servers. Some will want to go there i am sure. Thanks for the update on the information.

And for the housing yes hopefully that will work out all okay. I won't say i spend a ton of time in my own but it is so nicely color coordinated with all the right touches and the address is just right also. It seems off topic yet all relates to concerns about moving. We can hope it works out right.

Transfered one of my minis from Brandy to Gladden few days ago and all I can say I like it alot .... very nice server,friendly ppl,easy to find ppl to do raid,RT,osgiliath instances and all end game stuff,moors quite nice,small groups of freeps and creeps wandering around,there is 1vs1 too soo quite a nice server :D checked Landy as well too before i was transfering to Gladden and there I saw lots of ppl who transfered when transfers got open,moors at time I was on Landy was just gta 1vs1 with huge amount of creeps and freeps there,didnt saw many ppl around map tho,prices are mostly like brandy and atm landy is quite populated and transfers from closing servers didnt even start and after i saw that I went right away back to Gladden, thx but no thx to another server like brandy lol :cool::cool: many ppl transfered from Brandy soo Brandy better and more playable lol :D still tons of Russians which spam OCC/world in cyrillic ;);

I have been on Gladden and do enjoy the people there. When on Landroval i was taken aback by how busy yet peaceful world chat was and everyone was warm and welcoming. They were worried about how transfers would affect their warm community. We can just hope the servers which were really good before this will remain so. Good luck on Gladden, it is a good server. BTW, if not going to landy you can still do a toon there for the Sons of Numenor Symphony of Lights celebrating the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo on 22nd Sept 8 to 12 PM US east i think. They will escort lowbies if you want to roll up a toon for the fest. They are planning over 10,000 fireworks in Riv close to Elrond's cozy little abode this year.

I am Meadowlarke Sweetweed, Chief, Bounders of the Shire, Addernotch Station, Landroval - where I have been Chief for nearly 7 years.

I must express my regret at your tragic loss. I imagine what it would be like if we had to pack up the Bounders and build a new home elsewhere. A place where we would worry if we would even be welcome. Would folks be accepting of a new Bounder station? Almost certainly, we would not be in Addernotch homestead.

And there's the loss of friends and neighbors - those who go elsewhere, and those who stay behind.

I can't imagine that things will be easy - as the forces of darkness chase people from their homes.

We'll be welcoming folks - working to treat folks the way we would hope to be treated if it was Landroval going dark and we were coming to Silverlode.

There's a saying around Addernotch Station. There's no wrong way to have fun - except to have fun hurting others. You can trust that the Bounders will be seeking to ease the transition of folks coming to the Shire - not trying to see how much frustration and difficulty we can create for folks already enduring too much frustration and difficulty.

Of course, Shire folk are weary of strangers. That's just to be expected. It doesn't mean they'll turn their back on a hobbit in need. Well, most of them. You've likely heard of the Sackville Bagginses. We'll not speak more of them.

Anyways . . . Come look us up when you get to town. We're anxious to meet our new neighbors.

Assuming the new hardware works and Landroval doesn't get so full that Turbine has to close it off, we do tend to welcome other players, with one caveat.

As long as the incoming player doesn't harass or disrupt others, especially the ones doing music, events or roleplaying, then they're well-received. We've already gotten some else-server trolls and harassers, and we'll just say they aren't being as welcomed.

As for the Kin Names, if it's not an RP kin name, nobody cares what it's named, as long as it's not obscene. It basically falls under the Turbine general CoC, at that point. We've enjoyed quite a lot of creative and humorous kin names. :)

With hopes that many who no longer play may see this some where down the road, I just wanted to let you know that the kinship will be moved to the Landroval server some time later today. Thank you all for the great memories as to all of the rest on the Silverlode server. I was on the game last night and it was a ghost town and although it made for easy pickings for gathering resources, it was a bit sad to think this part of the journey as come to an end. I hope there will be housing available, but even the houses will not be the same as many bound items will be lost in the transition.
