Sometime in October, right?
That was what the producers letter said. But it wasn't set in stone of course.
Oct. 10
Cool, so this Monday then? I'll be looking forward to it.
Do we have an official word on that?
More important would be the release date of the first hotfix that fixes the major broken bits.
It is not the official date
Any update about launch date????
From what I understood and I may be wrong this up coming weekend will be the polished or so called version of U 19 on BR. Then it should come around close to fall festival for release.
If everything goes well this week, it could be out sometime next week.
yea, that fits to my impression on state of BR beta3.
the basics work, some polish is needed (texts, some landscape fixes like minas morgul bridge, flowers everywhere and not just in half of the landscape), but it should be doable within a week. i wonder if german/french sound comes in before or after launch.
will there still be a beta4 this weekend? just for a final round of bugsearching before it goes live?
So in reality it shouldn't be out on next week then. But it will be because of how Turbine releases broken updates that get halfly fixed on upcoming updates and other half remains broken and will just snowball more problems.
Yes I know amount of devs is really small, but we got extremely positive things out of delaying the update on U18.2, which turned out to be one of least buggy releases post HD.
did you play on BR b3?
i found no serious bugs anymore, all i found should be no problem to do within a week.
sure, they could change class-related things for months or years until they reach a level that fits with what players want...
but thats not really the point of u19.
delaying things is needed when its needed. not always just for the sake of it. u19 was nearly fine on BR this weekend imo.
If they get this wrong, and even 50% (or lower) of their hunters walk, U19 will be a game breaker. I think it's very important they get this right, and not just because hunter is my main (which I actually don''t play as main anymore, so it's not really affecting me that much at the moment and hasn't for a long time), but because I read chat, and forums and hopefully, so do Turbine. People have very big expectations on this release, and I think we will see a bit more than "just" disappointment. From what I've read, burg too isn't fully ready, but they are in a bettr place than hunter to take the kick and wait it out for a dot update IMO.
Releasing update that is is 100% broken on PvP doesn't seem a problem to you?
Certainly doesn't seem it's problem to Turbine! ;)
Oh and check bullroarer on recent thread how housing is totally beta. everything clipping and stuff howering etc and they asking money for that.
nope. no problem for me :P (and nothing new at all)
and about hunter/burglar stuff. they are being improved. the only thing that makes improvements bad is expectations of better improvements, which i never had. so no problem here for me either. they can still change hunter&burg&other class related things with 19.x updates. its not like its needed to test things, if we know exactly which class is better by how much.
the update by itself is pretty boring as there is nothing to do besides questing that will be done in 2 days per character (and flowerpicking/housing, which wont be interesting for most players).
but as they will not just change it and release an instance cluster just like that or add a daily-questing area... there is no hope. so better release now and get the next update earlier which might make things more interesting.
Another tiny polish to do, but important to many of us: the overall Mordor map. I guess we won't get the final and detailed version, that would perhaps spoil parts of an entire Expansion :). But on BR3 it's still the, ehm, 'colourful' version which shouldn't hit live.
Agreed. Too bad team didn't do few alternative bosses for the raid or new tiny 3 man or something. Ah well maybe on the next update we get something decent, until then raid is still very much good fun. It's just a shame PvP will be worse than ever, and that's while not unexpected is a shame... Say goodbye to creep population Turbine.
Disagree, I do think it would be nice if the Spring 2016 update was almost completely dedicated to class updating / skill balance and bugs for both creeps and freeps. warsteed traits and skill/fury bugs fixed as well. As well as PvMP gear and editing of the Osgilliath PvMP map.
Severlin, if you care, take an update and make a large system wide balance & class edit pass on everything. Old instances, skirmishes, pvmp, classic raids, etc. Based on your planned balances for possible but likely Mordor expansion.
I hope someone remembers to take some screenshots of two places.
1. The bunch of players that will spawn around the gates of MT to get to After the Battle as fast as possible to get to Minas Morgul (or maybe the crossroads if the After the Battle area is made available via some port there?)
2. The bunch of players that will spawn south of Dol Amroth to rush in to the new housing area and buy up all the properties available.
I foresee a series of big CTD's in MT when game goes live...
:p
I said Article, not Release Notes, those are totally different things & i already discovered that bullroarer have the data to be test (not the live release notes) many years ago. The Articles are a section where the devs explain on detail how a new event or feature will work, also giving publicity usually a few days before the live release. The release notes just number what is new or changed on a patch but don't explain anything.
One week earlier or later does not matter. As usual, the player base will find and report the exploits the cool kids didn't.
My kin decided to wait 4-5 weeks after U19 before buying homes in the new Gondor area, to give time for Turbine to fix discovered bugs, since people use their MC on it, best off to let others find big goofs missed, or ignored in beta.
We might also be able to time a new neighborhood releasing without competing for places.
On today Update 19 preview Twitch video minute 2:40 Cordovan said that estimated date for Update 19 release will be next Monday, October 17, 2016 : https://www.twitch.tv/lotrostream/v/94695830 .
It has been revealed that update 19 will be released on this Monday. Cant wait!!! You just beat me to it. haha
Our current plan is to release Update 19 on Monday, October 17th. There are a bunch of factors that could delay it by up to a few days or so, so stay tuned for the formal announcement, but that's the plan.
i think its quite good to have the new area less crowded.
less people on the landrush, better yield from flowerpicking :P
the questpack doesn't run away, so no problem if you do it two weeks later. and maybe, the first rushing people even find more bugs that get fixed two weeks later in u19.1, bugs which you dont see then ;)
The release notes are up in the official area:
https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...-Release-Notes
Does this mean its going live on Monday?
If they have already decided that, I would hope they would release the date, and the corresponding down time, asap. If they're doing another beta build this weekend I doubt they would release the update on Monday (would probably want a day or two to digest the results of the beta test).
I love this idea! I always noticed that in the past many update notes would pre-date the release, and I always wondered why not give us some advance if you already have it in your hands? However, I do think including the release date in the title would cut down confusion.
The unfortunate part about being more open about when things might happen is I then need to post things like this when something comes up...
It looks like we will not be able to get U19 out on Monday, as we found an issue with the Henneth Annun landscape that we want to correct prior to going live with the update. We're still looking at next week for U19, though. Stay tuned for a more specific time frame.
A+ on delaying it until you have it just right:)
please inform us with Beta 4 build asap.
Thank you Cordovan for sticking your neck out and posting the patch notes early. Many of us appreciate the effort.
Three cheers for Cordovan
Hip hip Hooray!
Hip hip Hooray!
Hip hip Hooray!
*APPLAUSE*
This is the fortunate part about being more open about things. When you find out today that there is something that will prevent the update from going live when originally announced, you tell us about it TODAY. Players like to be informed. I can appreciate that sharing this type of information before it's official and written in stone can cause a little extra work for you when things don't work out exactly as planned, but you're clearly doing that extra work to make sure the players know as much as you're permitted to tell them. THAT IS AWESOME.
In addition, when situations like this have arisen in the past, I can say that the response from players is almost always along the lines of: "We'd rather have you take a few extra (days, weeks, test builds, etc.) to get it right than to rush content out with known errors just to meet a deadline." Not sure WB feels the same way...but that's another show. ;)
Long story short (too late!), THANK YOU FOR THIS. The effort is truly appreciated.
Don't worry, I prefer a polished article.
Was it the falling through the floor we saw in the youtube post?

Here is the U19 Article: https://www.lotro.com/en/game/articl...19-coming-soon . :)
I'd like to chime in and say what others have already said in other words. Being open and sincere is what matters most (even if saying that is sort of a generalisation). Not the corporate-level stuff that requires breathing every 1/4 years in order to see if we are still going to be alive in the following 3 months. During the years, LotRO players have shown that they do understand if the update gets delayed by a week or two - most people understand that resources are limited, especially when new content is about to launch.
Well the Harvestmath estimated date is October 18, 2016. The estimated release date for U19 is October 17, 2016. If the devs delay to fix that bug they mentioned above +1 day, they still may release Harvestmath on time. I sincerely hope they get able to fix it on time without lost all the weekend, they earned the day off for working overtime. :)
FWIW I much prefer it to be more open. When you say something like "we're aiming to release it by next Monday" I think it's clear that it's not "carved in stone" and could be subject to change (especially when you further caveat it by saying "if nothing unexpected comes up"). Also much prefer to have it pushed back a few days / a week and have as much as possible fixed. Thanks again for keeping us in the loop, to the extent that you're able to.
p.s. FWIW I also prefer to have one downtime, for both the festival launch and U19.
Seriously, everyone is just happy that you're communicating. Honestly it doesn't matter in the slightest if things are delayed, I think everyone holds quality of content over speed of release. I personally would be happy for the dev team to take as much time as possible to polish this update, even if it's delayed for a week or two. Since 105 has come out I've been extremely impressed by how the team has been putting out content as well as your management of the forums/communication. I think in comparison to previous updates you've really stepped up your game, and the community is responding more because of that. Kudos.
If you have to shift the festival back by several days, please make sure that both the beginning date and the end date are adapted accordingly. I remember a Yule Festival (was it two years ago?) when the start was quite rough, the devs had to stop it, they rebooted it one and a half days later; yet after ten days of collecting festival items, the NPCs vanished on an early Monday morning as if they had completely forgotten about the missing days.
Of course the community was not amused, and in the end we had another Yule Festival in January, which finally worked as intended.
Greetings, Polymachos
Thanks for the update Cordovan. I really appreciate the new level of open communication.
I was wondering if there is any place one can find out how many TP the U19 quest pack will cost. And if so, can someone kindly point me to said place (or post the answer here)?
(This article: https://www.lotro.com/en/game/articl...19-coming-soon says that the Quest Pack: March of the King will be free to VIP, therefore I'm assuming everyone else has to buy it.)
It will cost 795 TP as usual :)
I will always try to give praise when praise is due. The communication we've had lately is very welcome. You're doing a great job, Cordovan! :D
No worries. The better you guys communicate, the better its all received. Polish that update till it's so shiny I can eat my dinner off it!
That said, might have been an idea to also just have posted an Edit to the Update 19: March of the King Release Notes post when you knew this would be the case as thats where some people would naturally be looking for info.
Cheers :)
Just wanted to add my voice to the voices above, though they all say it a lot better than I can :o Anyway, yay for good communication! Thank you Cordovan! :D
Yes, much better communication.
Some rough timeframe is much better than nothing. Even if it is shifted, as long as this is also communicated.
More information is always appreciated. I'm an adult and can adapt to changing news.
