CAN I PURCHASE THE EXPANSION WITH LOTRO POINTS?
The Minas Morgul expansion will be available for Store Points in March 2020 and will be priced as follows:

• Base Edition (includes the Minas Morgul Region & Instances only): 2495 Points
• Stout-axe Dwarf: 1000 Points

Planned release date for MM is October 29th. In the event of delay, MM items will be delivered no later than November 31st.

I've seen this but "will follow in patches" is not a release date for the raid.

And once again prices are a huge cash grab, and are set at ridiculous values. Yes, boo hoo I'm poor or rather don't want to spend a fortune on a "videogame" bundle that includes mostly virtual and cosmetic stuff, and yes I don't have to buy it if I don't want to. Sure. But every year it seems to get worse!

The only reason I would consider buying your "Ultimate" pack is for the exclusive cosmetics which look pretty good this time, and the titles. I don't care for the other things so you might as well include these things in the "Collectors" pack instead, no?

As this is Pre-sale, does it mean that all editions become unavailable after launch and people will then have to wait until March to buy the basic points pack? Or will all versions remain available indefinitely, like Mordor?

I wanna know all about the stout axe dwarf race! How will it differ from a regular dwarf race? And will the lvl120 boost be like a new Valar thing - and result in a character that has quite a few gaps in the build due to skipping content? And the biggest question is can I really be bothered to wait til March next year or am I going to cave in and buy it now. Can't believe the difference in price for the better versions for mostly just cosmetic stuff or am I missing something there too?

I wanted to pre-order ultimate fan, but the extras don't seem to justify the $90 difference from standard.

I'm just going to wait until we get more news.

It says in the FAQ that they will remain available after the launch - not sure about indefinitely as once you can buy in store with LP why would you need to buy with cash

Once again the pricing for this is... pretty ludicrous for what is included. Kudos for at least including the new dwarves in the base edition this time at least.

Seriously guys, those three tiers have to come down (both here and in DDO, where it's the same pricing). You'd have to include a whole wardrobe full of cosmetics and extras, or even feelies, for me to even think about spending $80 on something like this, let alone $120.

Looking forward to the zone and quest content though.

Mordor has been available for points for a very long time, but all versions are still in the marketplace. Expansions bought with points, do not contain any of the fluff, it's just basic content. Some folk may want to buy the fluff, but cannot afford it right now, so they will buy later.

You are right, you got me there, I was too excited , did not read at all. My Lady will punish me.

Disappointing that the basic bundle doesn’t include the level boost. Even the basic version of Mordor came with the Aria of the Valar. I might have bought that at Christmas if that was the case. As it is, I don’t know. I’m in no rush to level past 120 on my main as I’ve got plenty of alts to play, but might have wanted to boost an alt. We’ll see...

Agreed, the pricing is as bad as it was for Mordor bundles, in fact, a little worse pricing on the basic bundle. Mordor base had an Aria, this has a race. I have zero interest in the new dwarf race.

It's cool that we get 7 new instances! However, how many of those are 3mans that you can't balance for all classes?
I look forward to the beta, in regards to the pricing, it would be fine as long as you don't stick to the p2w gearing system.

I wouldn't dare to pay for an 80$ or 130$ pack just to find out you are forcing people into the store to buy keys as well.

The 7* might indicate the total, not at release.

Could not find the pound sterling option. The LP cost looks very reasonable for March though: 2495 LP?

Also Valar 120 at 6695 LP seems good value, dev diary coming?


It's Crystals and IXP that you need to finish an ILI and access to old dailies. A price far greater than the ultimate package if store bought. Without an LI revamp or an unfairly generous valar package players without the resources will struggle with the content again. How about selling a very expensive catch up for resource poor rather than a fits all that either can't help or makes it a preferred route to advancement for all, except the already 120s who miss out.

If they swapped out the Virtue XP with 2000 store currency I think the Ultimate bundle would be a lot more appealing. Some amount of points with it would be a step in the right direction as that's a lot of money to put down on digital goods.

Would be nice to have 3 x 3 mans, 3 x 6 mans and 1 x raid. I could live with 4:2:1 too. It would have been really nice to see a couple of new skirmishes added too. The Skirmish event we had recently was very popular, so there is plenty of call for it as long as the rewards are worthwhile.

One thing that is conspicuous by its absence is that there is no mention of race changes. Since its (reasonably) safe to assume that this will be monetized, why is there no race change token (or similar) with any version of the expansion? There should be one with the collector and ultimate packages, at the very least, given the pricing structure.

The standard edition is ok - content to play, char slot, new race, a couple of boosters to help with reaching 130.

The ultimate bundle on the other hand, looks like an expensive collection of random items.

Random is a point of view and entirely subjective. Certain players love boosts, various cosmetics,pets,titles and would gladly pay even more than you to have in their collection. The higher than usual cost might be because of the exclusive content , you cannot get it nowhere else ,so value rises up.

If it's anything like the one from the Mordor expansion, it means you get a Housing item that upon interacting will teleport you to a location in the new landscape. For Mordor, it gave a door that fit in Wall hooks and teleported characters to the Ruins of Díngarth when clicked.

I don't see anything remotely worth the extra $90 in the ultimate... not to me at least.

So lets see... I guess its time to grind some more empos... likely 10 per legacy.
Not sure how craft guild is handled, but I suppose stashing some guild emblems is in order.

What will happen to the old 105 valar ? will it be updated to 120 for those have one bought at store ?

And what about the 50 to 105 valar....will there be a discounted 50 to 120 version..?

They still sell the level 95 valar for a bit less than the 105 - although the value is enormously less because it doesn't have all the extras. I don't doubt they will add the 120 to the store while leaving the 105 and maybe the 95 at lower prices than the 120.

But I have been wrong before - in fact very recently in thinking that the reference to the new race in the patch notes was a mistake. Understandable since it would have made no sense if they weren't taking pre-orders today which came as a surprise.

I had also expected a level cap increase with the expansion.

I'd have figured they got used that first time on release day then not so much for a long while. After Ally hall ports came in maybe not even later. We have super hubs now too :)

Will the Allegiance story continue, have a vault full(ish) of the relics?
Will Light and Shadow return? Who trashed all their LoE gear and essence? Or is it yellow quest gear time again?

I hope to see some of those T3 skirmish mobs on the landscape :)

Good catch. At the very least the Ultimate bundle needs to include one race-change. But I understand if they want to keep that mostly store-exclusive, like name-change, kin-rename, etc.

Of course its a cash grab. how else can the SSG be able to earn money to keep the game up and running. If u have a better idea how the company can earn their revenue, im sure they be happy to listen. If everyone thinks as you do and all players only gets expantions and other stiff with LP, then LOTRO will be dead within days.

That's right, finally one who thinks logically ,so many players do not understand the market nor how company performs in general. Its ultimately all business. Thank the Orome there are the exceptions on Arda. Indeed,narrow minded. You read my mind, nothing else to add.

Not adding race token was a wise move from Standing Stone Games. It will simply "force" players to buy it manually later on, having it included in any edition would not make desired profit.

We don't know yet. But I highly doubt it gates current guild progress in any way. Perhaps adds more at the top end that requires it.

No, they will only be available in the marketplace - at any time. The Minas Morgul store points version purchased through the in game store will only have content - no fluff.

Guild ranks have always been available with either VIP, or bought through the store. I would hope that remains the same, but then, we haven't seen guild crafting for a very long time, so maybe this is a brand new type of guild crafting. Whatever it is, I hope it's not some expansion based ramp on for those who could never be bothered with the earlier guild grinds. That'll be my first point against the Xpac if it is. That shouldn't come bundled in with the Valar item either.

I dont like dwarves. Many people do not like dwarves. Why do people who dont like dwarves have to pay for a new dwarf race in the Standard Edition?
In Mordor we received the “Aria of the Valar”, which is needed by most people, and it is justified in any of the bundles. Now we get a smaller location for the same price without Aria

LMAO the whole thing is ridiculous. From the pricing to this coming out in just a little over a month & there has been no beta even started. What a mess. I feel for anyone wanting to purchase this with LP having to wait till March just shows they are desperate to squeeze as much money as they can out of players.

I didn't buy Mordor & certainly wont be buying this mess.

You'd be shocked,surprised and amazed how many do not love High female elves due to their Incredibly beauty an they envy them for their immortal life.

You are not paying for it extra,you are getting it for free basically, since 40$ is the fair and default price for Standard edition. Valar and Dwarf is but a bonus, 40$ you cannot get low for an expansion MMO pack. No really was needed by many, a lot of folks have had many alts already.

Mordor's Standard edition and both Morgul have great value and even if it was nothing else it would be justified, nobody sane enough will go under 40$ for Expansion pack. Nobody.

25 days BETA testing is more than enough. Its not ridiculous, you have to at least be more constructive and detailed. Time is money, You think I will wait for 3 months to get it with LP. In that time I could finish 20+ other games.

3-4 Months for an MMO is a lifetime. A hardcore extremely active player can do wonders in a single day if desire is too great.

I was hoping of bringing a race change token on the sales of the expansion. Anyway sales are the same as Mordors with the difference of standars edition which is better to give new race over valar. However i would defenetly prefered if we had in standar edition the xp item boost and 1 cosmetic outfit/warsteed set instead of the new race.I just prefer to give money for something more universal like cosmetics and xp items. I also have to admit that SSG played well with the stout axes in earlier release only via expansion purchase. I m not realy sure if i buy or not new expansion at this time.

3) If the level cap is increasing, will Skirmish Soldiers also receive a level cap increase? If yes, will the Skirmish Soldier cap increase be available a la carte?

4) What does the exclusive 'Housing Teleport' do?

5) Can any L120 character reach the starting point for the expansion and dive in? I have numerous L120 characters but they are at Minas Tirith and have no L120 equipment. Does the expansion provide such characters with starter equipment and ability to jump over all the intervening regions? Will they suffer defeat at The Black Gate and be barred entry to the new region?

Agreed. Most of my 120 characters are far behind on virtue points for example after the the new system convertion. I had only focused on the ones I used and then stopped deeding. Not focused on raising all to 20, as I saw no point under the old system. Some virtues then changed and became different stat bonuses to me and also the bonus on passive ones makes all important now to have capped. Would be nice to get vxp boosters from the Valar to use on at least one of my 120 character. It has come to that the few valared characters I have from valars that came with Mordor have better stats now than the ones I played since 2007 (with some years break in between). I wouldnt buy vpx in the store, but as we get valars with the pack anyway it would be nice to acctually be able to use it. as I have no interest in starting a new character. I already have all classes, even two of some classes. So that boost that comes with the pack to 120 is kind of useless to me if it can not be used on a 120 character for the other bonuses. I would imagine to some other people as well.

There is no Valar in the standard pack. For those that do not want the new dwarf race, they just get the content, for their $40. The dwarf race, stand alone costs 1000 LP (about $10's worth), so they are paying $30 just for the content, which isn't such a great deal when you consider Mordor standard pack came with a larger area, more content and a Valar item - -for the same amount of money.

With Mordor, the ulltimate and premium packs were over-priced and the base pack was good value for money. In this expansion, the ultimate and premium are over-priced but nowhere near as poor value as the base pack.

Of course, nothing will change now, because peolpe have already started buying it, but I think they've missed an opportunity to sell a lot more than they probably will with this pricing, as was the case with Mordor, when we saw a lot of people waiting for the later release for store points.

This is the most confusing marketing technique there is. I understand the desire to try and get people to buy it immediately with cash and not saved up LP, waiting 4+ months? Thats absolutely ridiculous

So many of my friends, PAYING CUSTOMERS, left the game at mordor because of this absolute ridiculous wait. It should be 1, 2 months max.

If you think the 120/80 version is too expensive, BUY THE REGULAR ONE. This time around you doesn't miss out on anything but cosmetics.. The new race and the content around that is available in base expansion. Boosts can be bought separately anyway. I don't get the issue.

Makes it easy, I'll do exactly the same as I did with Mordor. Wait until its released, then buy the standard edition - £30 seems a fair price and I'm not that bothered about the extras in the other editions.

Or maybe, start saving some money! I gladly pay 39$ for real content.. It's not expensive, dude. You should be happy that it's even possible to buy with points, it's not all games that do this for their expansions and DLC's.

Yep. It's the reason I shall only buy the base pack, and not until the servers actually go down to patch for the Expac.

Give me the choice and I might pre-order, I might go for a higher one, or I might pay with LP ... I've done a mix pre-Mordor ... take away that choice & I'll pay as late & little as possible.

When Mordor editions had the high elf included only in the higher ones and not the base edition people complained about the combination with the Aria, too.

I remember an interview where devs said that the comments of not wanting a new race had led to moving it to the more expensive editions and just including the Aria.

At this point i would like to remember everyone what SSG did with the Mordor-expansion!

There was 4 betas for it, and we got such an unfinished garbage, that it was hard to play at all.
Instances: Naerband is broken since SSG launched it and SSG has no intention to fix anything.
Also don't forget, was SSG did with the barter jewellery and with the essences! (within two months we got 3 new essence tiers)

Remember all the promised things:
- finish class update : not in sight!
- class balance: not in sight!
- fix bugs instead of re-implement them again and again: not in sight!
and and and ....

If some one pre-order, it is totally his/her choice, but be aware, that - depending on what you pre-order - all what you may get at the end, is a cosmetic armour, because the content will be broken, the instances will be broken, your hared earned stuff will be worthless as you reach level 130 and the grind will be once again increased.

Just keep in mind that this company is not only not willing to learn from their mistakes but rather has the intention to repeat them again and again!

Well when it comes to this game I agree!

This is what i expect from this expansion:
1. No instances on release day, we have to wait 4 weeks+ for any group content.
2. Raid won't be available until 8 weeks after release date.
3. You will be able to get endgame gear from lootboxes
4. A majority of the instances will be 3-mans that makes some classes useless because SSG cant balance them.
5. No new skills for any classes, no surprise since when did we get new skills anyway huh?
6. Insane increase of power on all LI's , that will once again force us to use store or do old content for scrolls.
7. Faceroll landscape since SSG doesn't know how other MMOs fix this by making old gear obsolete and give us new landscape gear from quests.
8. Players will be maxed level in an hour by farming WP.

Sorry for coming off so negative but they have a lot to prove since Mordor release to gain my trust.

On MARCH for Lotro points?! Cmooon, please, don't do that! Change it to the end of November. All people that want, will buy it before for real money. March is too far!

Until I know what "Besieged Mordor" means I shan't be committing any money to this expansion. Previously with Moria, Rohan, Mordor, etc., I've had a reasonable idea of what to expect but this is just too vague at the moment.

What are these "Three Relics for all characters", can we get any more information?
Nothing else catched my attention so it might be a selling point.

Yep another broken mess but according to one person a month for beta is more then enough time. SMH I remember Isengard's release & how much stuff was broken in that & how peeved players were & that had several months of beta. This is not even getting a full month. Then SSG has the nerve to ask the ridiculous prices that they are for the expansion, If they had planned on releasing an expansion this year they should have announced it earlier this year & should have started beta some time in the summer. I just cannot see rewarding SSG by spending money on this mess.

I've already seen a player with the new Ultimate cosmetic armour in game.

I can sort of respect the bravado of announcing an October release date for something that isn't even ready for beta at the end of September, but there's no way this is going to manage an even halfway decent release on that timeline. At this point, the pre-order isn't even asking people to accept on faith that this expansion will be good based on a previous track record, it's basically saying "well, yeah, the last THREE (four if you count Isengard, as while it was eventually vindicated due to future expansions being even worse, it did launch in a pretty sorry state) expansions launched broken and half-finished and some of those issues were never fixed, but this time, this time will be different! for realsies!". Of course there is some core userbase that will buy anything so long as SSG manages to hold onto the Lord of the Rings IP, and they have of course already bought the biggest, most expensive pack in support of half-finished (honestly, maybe quarter-finished at this rate) content that comes out on schedule darn it!

Up for purchase for LP in March 2020? At this point RELEASED March 2020 would be ambitious, if the intent was to put out a polished product given their team size and track record.

By falling back on the formerly time-honored but now basically abandoned tradition of putting out a quality product that people are willing to put money into (rather than just pushing out anything with art assets attached to it knowing someone somewhere will pay for it), and maintaining a game that doesn't lock new players behind a soul-crushing wall of legendary weapon grind to get to the point where they're cap-viable (conveniently skippable by spending a not insignificant sum of money!) that only gets bigger every year and will never be removed because it's so easily monetized?

Literally zero incentive to purchase any of these expansion tiers right now.

Cool, you get some cosmetics. Its like polishing a potential #### and showing off something shiny.

We have literally no idea what is coming in the expansion and frankly I have little faith the expansion will address any of the core issues with the game (LIs, Essence grind, crafting grind).


Not to mention the vaguely worded instances promise. They literally NEVER fixed the 6 man instance in mordor. Why do ANY of you have faith that any of these instances will be functional at all? Ever?

Assuming they are classic instances and not 4 crafting instances and a hodge podge filikul 3 man, 6 man, and 12 man.


But hey, at least the Whales have something to entertain them.

I'd like to add this to the list of questions:
I'd like to know which kind of item it is (which slot it's gonna take in gear) and up to which level is it gonna be equippable.

It'd help to gauge how useful the item is in relation to the ones that we already have from previous pre-purchases.

Edit: it's an earring, very similar to the high-elf gift from mordor pre-puchase, and it gives XP up to lvl 120. So, not that useful.

The way people think in LotRO is literally fallacious reasoning, this here would be the gambler's fallacy, the idea that since every other round was a failure, this one ought to be the one that will be good instead of learning from the past. Lotro has officially found a player base which will eat up whatever it gives it without a thought.
