Is it just me?
I can't play for more than 5 minutes.
When is it going to be REALLY fixed? I'm getting tired and angry... And I'm expecting word on this
I can't believe I spent money on this broken expansion, Riders of Crash
patch has made no difference to me.
I logged in played for 10 mins and i crashed, another 10 mins, crash.
Then it went in 5 and twice in 3 minutes.
although now it doesnt go to desktop. It just freezes or goes black.
can't take much more of this.
This is why 50% of the population in RoI did not purchase RoR. The games been going downhill since MoM, you should lower your expectations then you will not be let down as much.
5 min crash, 2 min crash, 5 min crash
and how is your day?
Hey folks
I appreciate the Rohane update, but the client uses to send me to bed regularly while playing.
Usually it happens after 45-90 minutes: "lotroclient is no longer working" error from Windows 7.
Restart of the client, and new 45-90 until it happens again.
Well then, I just reinstall the client new I thought. So I did an uninstall, deleted the folders... and installed it new.
Patching and everything went fine... but now the client crashes all 20-40 minutes... way more often than until now. Before Rohan it worked great and nearly no crahes.
I'm running windows 7 unter Bootcamp on a Mac. Shouldn't be a problem, as it worked really well until now.
Do you have any ideas?
Becasue playing it like this... not fun...
Thanks a lot ;)

Not only you, my gf has the same problem, we have tried everything, Dx9, Dx10, lowering graphics... She cant play for more than 30min (we timed it)
Me, on the other hand, Im still crashless, but my machine is new.
Crashing here too. It might be standard practice to wait a few months before buying an expansion. I thought maybe the extra time they took would have ironed these sorts of things out.
Here we have someone who doesn't seem to have read the patch notes. They never claimed to have fixed all these crashes just specific causes. Thy have been fairly explicit about this.
The issue here seems to be there are a number of different things causing very similar symptoms. This adds to the frustrations on our end as each time one others is fixed and it isn't the one affecting us it both doesn't help and makes it look like they are lying.
Quite how so many memory issues and the like made it live is odd, but perhaps beta data suggested to turbine that the number of people these issue may affect is less damaging to them than the effects of another delay. Seems bizairee from reading the forums that this was the case but forums often a bad place to judge how widespread an issue is. The other possibility is the extra beta bits of the beta client affected the rate things appeared or that the server load on live makes things worse. Whatever it seems it was a mistake to.
Today's hotfix addressed very specific issues with the client. It did not, and cannot, change other things that players have reported as causes of crashes such as out of date video and sound drivers, some apparent conflicts with players still running Happy Cloud in the back ground, and long standing memory allocation issues with 32 Bit OSes.
There are also some players who deleted .dat files in an effort to work around a client hang that may be encountering data in those, now missing, files that are causing crashes (the client does not automatically replace missing dat files).
For those who are still seeing the crash, please state your OS version and whether it is 32 or 64 bit.
I can't speak for anyone else. I suffered thru three months of crashing starting the day Rise of Isengard launched. I had to fix it via the purchase of a brand new PC. I chose to not buy Riders of Rohan. Instead I am putering around some with the lifetime accounts. I going to let all the folks that bought the expansion, find all the bugs and help Turbine smash the bugs. When Turbine gets the game working properly months down the road, I will buy the expansion and enjoy the content.
crashing still  very very frustrating and disappointing.
OS = WinXP 32Bit
I have not experienced any crashes at all. Why? Because I haven't even gotten in game.
After a solid week of Examine Game Data I reinstalled and started patching earlier today just before 10AM (because it was announced on twitter and facebook that the servers were back up). It made 2 updates to the Programs and went to Update Game Data, then hit the Unspecified Patch Error. I checked the official support page on that HERE and restarted my computer as instructed. When I restarted the launcher after that it made 60+ more updates to the programs and has been sitting at Examine Game Data ever since then. Restarted the launcher does not fix it.
To be clear: I've been in contact via PM with the Turbine Support Staff for nearly a week and I've literally tried everything under the sun from my end. Many clean reinstallations, a complete redownload, a clean boot, sent in my msinfo, checked my firewall and ports, everything. And now whatever fix was supposed to be included in Examine Game Data did not work either. Still stuck perpetually on Examine Game Data. :( To say the least, I am extremely disappointed.
Understood. I am not upset that today's update did not fix all the various problems. I realize it is going to take Turbine some months to fix everything. Once Turbine gets it cleaned up, I will look into buying the new content.
As a lifer, I am not going to rage quit. Delete all my characters. There is plenty of other games, real life, family to consume my free time.
For all those people that bought RoR, want to get value out of their purchase by playing the game. Having issues. I have plenty of Yula brand Chocolate Truffles to hand out as gifts. Free hugs. Plenty of sympathy.
I just reread the above and realised what it meant.. this is fair enough, actually.
I recently bought a new laptop and its running lotro like a dream. Ive gone from Directx 9 just about handling medium settings (low on most of the textures and STILL lagging to death) to very high graphics in direct x 11 with no lag, crisp sharp animation and colours and an overall excellent experience. By the time Rohan comes around my computer will hopefully be able to handle that brilliantly too.
I thought my issues were fixed with today's patch, but I am still crashing. Out of about 50 attempts to get into game since RoR launch. I have been able to get in 4 times. When I do get in, the game runs beautifully. But, most of the time I crash on the first load screen after I select my character. I was so sure this would have fixed my issue today, but it has not. I am on XP and dx9. Submitted 2 tickets over the past week and nothing has been resolved as of yet. I just want to play the game...
Stop blaming on Turbine each time something is not right, it's not their fault if you are using out of date codes, drivers or you have computer that can't handle lag made of maybe overpopulated location in which you are questing at the moment.
I have only crashed once since ROR is out, and today i have crashed 0 times, and i do not have super computer, im using normal pc i used in MOM,ROI aswell, but i am using new drivers, patched my codecs and i have made sure to check all that may go wrong before i would use topic like this to put blame on a product.
Riders of Rohan have few minor bugs but what game doesnt. Still im 100% sure it's not cause of your problems guys. Please take a moment, and try to see if there is anything wrong in your sistem and it software or something before u go crazy in here.
Relax and respect the game.
Before RoR game working fine (no crash). I dont buy RoR for $. I played few hours and almost lev up my capt to 76 before i buy RoR expansion from Lotro store ( Very High/high settings). 5-10 min after pursche game crash ! And crashing non stop for every 10-30 min (at very high/medium settings). Now i can play almost without crash (i change to very low/low settings also muted sounds in game), for 3-6 hour of playing 1 crash. Os> windows Vista 32-bit.
My normal client still stuck at examine programs, use steam client he working fine.
Still crashing pretty regularly too - my first today was 4 minutes after getting in-game, the second I'd managed about a half-hour of play first. Still having the "high level Wardens crash on first load attempt" bug too, though it does seem to be marginally better; it's gone back to the pre-RoR behaviour of loading properly on second attempts, instead of taking 3-5 attempts to get her loaded, and she's actually loaded on first attempt a few times since yesterday (why the change started before the fix today I don't know, unless it's related to the "rare server-side crash" referenced in the patch notes, and was something changed server-side pre-patch).
I don't really think that this is all the players fault.
When a game is not optimized and does not work with most peoples current drivers, you cannot blame the players only. Most games just run - RoR demands the latest drivers and still may not run, and still will have the memory leak issues.
As for players who deleted files, they were following advice on how to to get the game to work because just downloading it and running it was not working.
I am sorry to hear about people's problems.
my issue was memory related. I have winxp 32b - nvdia AGP 7600GT 256MB - with a socket 478 Pentium 4 - 3.2EE w/ 2GB RAM - my machine is severely dated compared to most, yet i still get 25fps and higher on ultra high settings. Before the latest patch, I would watch my the lotro client process slowly climb to more than 1.5GB of used memory and then crash, always within minutes. Now have been questing in Rohan since servers came back up and it's rock solid now :) For what it's worth MMOs are some of the most complex software that is available to the general public. It has to run on such a wide variety of hardware and software configurations that testing and validating the software must be a serious undertaking. I admit, after all the crashes, I was a bit down and disappointed but knew that I wasn't alone with the issues I was having. Please be patient, Turbine will get the kinks out. Also worth noting, I am purposely running 5 year old nvidia (omega) drivers as part of my earlier troubleshooting attempts. I kind of afraid to revert back to newer drivers...go figure
