Is the naming issue going to be fixed so we don't end up with name-1 when we transfer? I want to keep my names if there's not a naming conflict on the server I move to. A free rename doesn't really solve the issue.
I'm kind of upset. We moved off of ithil to Anor a few weeks ago. If I'd known that an ithil closure would mean moving to ANY server I would have waited as I'd have rather transferred to a live server.
They also just took down transfers *to* Ithil - a very good thing otherwise it may have killed Anor as well.
If you get a name -1 and a free name change the name change wouldn't let you get back to the original name with no -1?

TL;DR: You will lose your name to an idle character of the same name when you transfer and get the -1 (or -2, whatever).
In the past, I have successfully petitioned CS to claim an idle name when they turned transfers back on after months of not being able to transfer anywhere. To be mildly fair, this was before they acknowledged that the name conflict stuff that's struck out on the FAQ I linked above was inaccurate, so technically, I was holding them to their advertised word on the matter at the time. They probably won't grant it anymore, since the FAQ does have the current information now.
It is good that they offer free transfers for Ithil , but surprised that they are letting transfers happen to regular servers.... Why can't we transfer from Anor to regular servers? I do not play on Anor anymore and I would love to take characters and hard earned resources to my regular world...... As Anor is going forward, I can understand if transfers from there to regular would cost. Cord could you please see why this isn't possible.
We all started characters on Anor and Ithil knowing that transfers to the old servers would not be allowed. Well not until we caught up anyway which is still years away.
I would have preferred a merger with Anor or, failing that, free transfers to Anor but no option to go to the old servers. In order to keep a higher population on legendary. SSG decided otherwise for reasons that it felt were good. I am not arguing with that decision.
I have to disagree with the suggestion to allow transfers from Anor to the old servers. This very well might gut Anor and leave it without a viable population.
I do feel the pain of people that just left Ithil, however. If they would prefer an old server to Anor. The situation reminds me of how when people make a large purchase right before a sudden sale customer service sometimes gives them the benefit of the sale. I am referring to things like LOTRO point sales not the normal weekly change of what is on sale.
So how about this - let anyone that transferred within the last few days, or a week, or other short period be able to get a transfer from Anor handled by customer service. But NO general reversal of the rule that transfers off of Anor are not allowed.
Some things SSG should consider, if they are going to close Anor at the end of lvl 105 cap, announce it now so people can prepare.
It is definitely unfair to Ithil people that transfered to Anor to be stuck on Anor when what they really wanted was to move to live servers.
Alternative option? Establish Anor server as a true VIP only server. Allow VIP transfers from Live to Anor at the same time raising Anor up to lvl 130 cap.
Anor has a wonderful experience as compared to most free 2 play servers, world chat is far less trollish, more serene, and less gold farmers.
Why in the name of the One God and the Valar do you even mention something so unlikely as them closing Anor in a few months. The population is good now, we will get some refuges from Ithil, and we will get new players that enjoyed Mordor a lot more than the mounted combat/Big Battle content that preceeded it.
If SSG had any such plans they would have closed both servers now.
Closing Anor would royally anger a large percentage of their VIP customers if they did it so soon after many months of encouraging people to move to Anor from Ithil.
I put in a ticket about 3 hours ago. At the time the wait time was about 13 hours. Opening the help page in game now shows a wait time of 19 hours.Quote:

SSG needs to make a statement on Anor server's future. Whether the plan will continue to level cap at the current gradual pace, etc.
On the first comment: not really, we all wanted the LS to be successful, and yes, no transfers until catch up, but they tanked. And we're almost on the 3rd year since they opened - the cap is already lvl 105.. and you only have 25 to go (even if 140 comes by Fall, LS will be 115 in no time).Quote:

I respect the wishes of those who want to remain in Anor. I do. But the fact that I've toons there doesn't make me participate more - it's not "historical" content anymore.. Throne is still active in the regular servers. And it's not something I'm nostalgic about.
If I were to meet you in the middle I'd ask for the same opportunity window Ithil is getting: let us transfer out of Anor until June 16th. It won't affect my VIP, I pay annually anyways. And the perks + quest packs make it worth it.
All I want is the same chance, yeah. If I'd known this I would have waited to transfer off of ithil in the first place. I've gotten more attached to these characters (and more anniversary and other even items) then I have on my regular server characters. Fully prepared to delete the ones on my old main server (including characters that have existed since the original 'open beta' preview that I honestly never got very far on since we quit the first time around siege of mirkwood) so I can move these ones over.Quote:

OT but it looks like the article linked to in the OP also gives the answer as to what will happen with regards to character transfers off the old closed servers... (hint: "After December 31st, 2021, the Ithil game world will be closed permanently, and any remaining characters will not be able to be transferred or accessed")
The reason people would flee Anor for Live is, they likely have characters that are maxxed imbue'd at rank 59 and can quickly catch up to live characters and their imbue'ment rankings. So if you have only 1 or 2 lvl 130s on live, and a 105 with built weapons, it's not a bad transition now to jump to live.Quote:

That's really not good at all. They should open both or none at all.
They don't have to close Anor, they just need to allow transfers off, just like Ithil. If they are allowing some customers transfers back to live, they need to make that available to all customers.Quote:

Unsure about the naming policy, I didn't have any that got a -1 at the end. I suspect it's the same rule as prior to the transfer troubles: if the other name was offline more than a year, you sort of displace it.
