DPS refers to damage per second -- a measurement of damage over time. Measuring DPS in single second parses is not an accurate reflection of DPS.

This is incorrect. Captains have two roles -- tank or buffbot. You aren't really a "DPS" class since even in red line your DPS is negligible. You're more like an actively played buffbot that's there...
