copying the turbineinvoker.exe from the backup folder to the main folder in the lotro install directory resolved this for most people. there were quite afew threads about this actually.

From my personal experience the box rate must have increased from .000001% to .000002%, since U5.2 I've killed around 2k mobs on my champ in Nan curunir mostly and another 500 or so in DoF on my BA...
