Some good advice already in this thread.
Sorry if this sounds obvious but I'll state it just in case you're not thinking this way ...
First choice should usually be to sneak past the mobs.

Some other basics that people may take for granted, but newer players may be unaware of ...
The various classes are designed to fit a well established pattern of roles that many games share:

I'm complaining about duplicate mounts because each extra one I got, while trying to get a complete set, is one that somebody else could have used. I felt guilty not being able to use it.
This is exactly my strategy, except there weren't enough players to give me time to run alts through too. The more digs you are in range of when you let the cave claw loose, the better the results....
Yep - Guards can just soak up damage, especially if geared specifically for soloing many mobs. It's awesome fun!
There are a few good vids on Youtube showing Guards doing big pulls and surviving...
Works for me too!
One thing slightly hidden in silverkelt's wall of text (;) all good advice!) was the bit about going into Moria and getting your Legendary Item. Get it as early as you can (I...
Very nicely done. I'll almost forgive the nasty hobbit comment! ;)
It sounds like you bring a great attitude, so welcome to Middle Earth!!!
I always enjoy reading someone's fresh perspective on LOTRO. There can be a lot of negativity on the forums, but I think...
RJFerret made a great response to this - about learning all styles then deciding what is right for the situation, and your personal preferences. I agree with all that.
I'd also like to chime in...
Nice. Grats mate!
Yes in theory, but no in practice.
You can set these combinations in the keymap file and see it in the key mapping list in game, but the game doesn't actually respond to them.
Other modifiers...
As others have stated, Guard seems a good fit for you. A Champ wouldn't be bad, but -as you wondered - it might limit entry into groups if your wife goes for a hunter.
A hunter would be the...
Good point. I still recommend Provoke though. :)

You could simulate this currently by expanding the game window onto the second screen, then having the desired UI elements on that. If you didn't expand too much, the "center" wouldn't move much...
This is the problem. The chances are the passives won't be good and the 1st Age Belt will be worse than your existing, which makes the belt useless.
Don't underestimate how much luck (or...
Thirded!
I know it seems cold, but dpsers who pull aggro after being asked not to don't deserve saving. You'll get it back after they die, as long as the healer is not trying to save everyone.

[Assuming the tanks are guards - I don't know much about wardens ...]
I would think Provoke would be helpful, as the most reliable aggro switch the second tank has is Engage, which copies (+ a...
I have to cast my vote with Southpa - as I see non-QK builds as gimped. I don't doubt that there are occasions where a two click AOE stun is useful, but I get all the mezzing and debuffing I need,...
Very nice LIs!!!
*drool*
If we're talking about maximising dps for quick kills while soloing, these two traitlines are not really relevant are they?
