No, sorry.
Would it be "Bribing guards with food"?
You don't need to kick yourself, because this particular piece of information is in volume 9 of the Histories (should I have said that? ). You only had the first five, I believe.

Nope! Keep trying though
Sorry. I actually found this in a rather interesting online quiz you can take. I got 67/100 right. I got a lot of the names mixed up.

Just look for the Middle Earth one towards the bottom. There's over 300 questions available, but you can only do 100 at a time. No one has to answer them but here's a few I found interesting. The casual fan might have trouble answering some of these.
What color was the arrow Bard used to kill Smaug?
Which of the sons of Feanor was the eldest?
Rohan was once known as the fields of what?
What are the names of Farmer Maggot's dogs?
What are the Goblin names for Orcrist and Glamdring, respectively?
Who killed Morgoth?
How many years did the Old Took live?
What was the name of Aragorn's mother?
Who said, "It's an ill wind as blows nobody no good, as I always say. And All's well as ends Better!"
How many Great Rings were originally made?
What was the name of the pony given to Merry by Theoden?
Who says, "Here's a pretty hobbit-skin to wrap an elven-princeling in"?

Black
I have no idea. Could it be Maedhros?
Calenardhon
Fang, Grip, and Wolf
Biter (for Orcrist, Goblin-cleaver) and Beater (for Glamdring, Foe-hammer)
Túrin Turambar
(Prophesied to kill Morgoth during Dagor Dagorath by running Gurthang through his heart).
130
Gilraen
Gaffer Gamgee?
20
(7 for the elven kings + 3 for the dwarf lords + 9 for mortal men + 1 for the Dark Lord = 20)
I have no idea.
Aragorn
"Pure creation is like a vacation."
- Welby of Landroval
I think Feanor's eldest was Maedhros.
Oh and didn't Manwe's son kill Morgoth? That's how Middle-Earth was destroyed I believe...

It's not looking like anyone is going to get it... here is what Frodo Gamgee asked:
"What happened to Gimli? I liked him. Please can I have an axe soon dad? Are there any orcs left?"
One can see where his train of thought is going.

prune bump
Going way back, I notices this incorrect answer. Legolas was a Silvan elf. Not Sindarin/Grey elf. The silvan (dark) never saw the two trees or made the journey like the Sindarin. The grey-elves made the journey to the coast, but never saw the two trees. They are neither light, nor dark, buy grey. Although, sometimes the "dark" elves are generally thought of as all the elves who never made it to Valinor. Since legolas' people never made it to Beleriand, they are not Grey/Sindarin, but rather Silvan/Dark.
From the index in the back of Unfinished Tales:
Legolas Sindarin Elf of Northern Mirkwood, son of Thranduil; one of the Fellowship of the Ring.
I think Legolas counts as Sindarin because his ancestors were.
found it:
Legolas says '...the Elves of this land were of a race strange to us of the silvan folk...' (The Fellowship of the Ring II 3, The Ring Goes South). This is confusing, because his father Thranduil is elsewhere identified as one of the Sindar. Tolkien touches on this question in his Letters, where he describes Legolas as '...a Woodland Elf, though one of royal and originally Sindarin line.' (The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien No 297, dated 1967, our italics).
Confusing, no? Legolas was born in mirkwood, but his father descended from Lindon in Beleriand. The people of Legolas and his other relatives were all silvan. He counts himself as silvan.
I guess you could say he's both?
Well, I believe most of the Galadhrim are sylvan or Sindarin, but Galadriel is a Noldo. So going by Noldor>Sindar>sylvan, it wouldn't be the first time one elf kindred is ruled by a member of a higher kindred. Legolas is descended from the Sindar but has lived most of his life among mostly sylvan elves. He never even set foot in Beleriand.

...Four months later.....
The only one I remember being named was Zamîn, but I have no clue if that's the answer you're looking for or not.
Apart from Glorfindel and Luthien, what other elves did Tolkien ever mention returning from the Halls of Mandos?

And yes, I know this is super old and all that, but technically, great-great-great-great grandfather would be correct for Arwen's relation to Finwe. On her father's side, she was the daughter of Elrond, son of Earendil, son of Idril, daughter of Turgon, son of Fingolfin, son of Finwe. It was only on her mother's side that he was her great-great grandfather.
No, no - not of Lindon (the Laiquendi were Telerin, but not Sindarin). Oropher, Thranduil's father, was of the people of Elu Thingol in Doriath. Oropher founded the woodland realm in Greenwood the Great (later, Mirkwood due to the unwholesome influence of the Necromancer of Dol Guldur - later found to be Sauron). Oropher died in the War of the Last Alliance, and Thranduil inherited his realm. Legolas says "silvan" and not "Sindarin" because as much as the Elvenking's halls might resemble Menegroth in general form, they are in fact not the people of Thingol any longer even though their line originated in Doriath.
The pony Merry got from Theoden King was Stybba, if my memory serves.
