    Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

    Hello!

Good to see many folks wanting to pop along to this the longest running RP event on the beloved server; Laurelin. Might I suggest the first post above is updated with this information I am posting here, in regards to useful contacts should players find the Green Dragon Friday empty of punters, and wondering if they are in the wrong layer. I would ask also, that the Lorebook version of this event is updated too! If possible.

    Free to play update

With the introduction of layers, I would like to add a list of contacts should you find yourself in the wrong layer. These people will be able i'm sure, to direct you to others who are attending Green Dragon Friday.

    1) Lina
    2) Simbo
    3) Rowana
    4) Patula
    5) Saphyre
    6) Cloves
    7) Jiro
    8) Puffo
    9) Huff
    10) Amburr
    11) Mahonia
    12) Claramay

Note: If I've added you on this list, it's because I concider you a fine ambassador for Green Dragon Friday and know you to be a helpful and faithful hobbit.

I noticed Bootsy mentioned the layer thing, and as she is once again active she should be added to the list. If Lina, Rowana and others know of other fine hobbits who would be willing to be available to frantic /tell's from lonley hobbits wishing to be in the correct layer to attend this brilliant and longstanding event, then I say add them!

I had a lovely time until my netbook's battery gave up. Thanks to Bootsy for giving me an escort from Michel Delving. I hope I didn't smell too strongly of goat.

    I've smelled worse *grin*

I had a great night at the GDF, despite a few DC's (connection was unstable for some reason).
It was great to see so many friends old and new.

A few things to remember for this event.

    1) This is a Hobbit prefered event This was covered in the OP.

    2) Forced emotes Please save these for another time and place.

    3) Wait your turn It might look like a free for all, but underneath there is organisation going on. Whoever is master/mistress of ceremonies will help to steer the evening forward. This means we all get a chance to have our turn at the Fireplace. Sometimes things go awry and time runs short. Please wait until you have been asked to play/sing/recite before doing so, this is what makes the whole thing run smoothly.

On the whole it was another successful GDF and I'm looking forward to the next one.

    Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

Master Ranon tells a story to the crowd.

Since Barmy had closed the Green Dragon for renovation a couple of days, the locals were excited to see what improvements had been made. Even half an hour before the usual Green Dragon Friday starting time, the inn was filling up. However, wide-eyed excitement soon turned to half-disappointed whispers and mutters. Besides a bit of cleaning and dusting, the Dragon looked more or less as it had always done, although an old gaffer swore that the prices had increased a bit again. Especially compared to the first time he visited the inn near seventy years ago.

Crowds of hobbits continued to come, though, so Barmy soon asked a few of the locals to stand near the entrance and let people in slowly. As the entertainment started, the inn was packed, both with regulars and visitors, some even from far-off Bree. The chat flowed freely, merry songs filled the air, and the dancing began in earnest. Through the night, there were songs, poems, stories and news, as well as lovely food served by the inn staff. A group of dwarven travelers popped by as well, enjoyed the hearty food and regaled some of the locals with stories from their travels. One or two big folk also came by, leading to some nervous whispers, but moods were calmed after another round of drinks. Or two.

As the night ended, the hobbits sang "Home Sweet Home", waved their goodbyes and promised to be back next Friday, before heading outside to set off a few leftover fireworks. As the final drunken hobbit sang and staggered his way out, Barmy wiped his brow, counted his coin, and looked pleased. Finally, he poured himself an ale. What a busy night, with a well-behaved, pleasant crowd. He hoped for many more like this. Why, at this rate he might even replace that old rug by the fireplace... sometime.

OOC: Grand good fun everyone! Well done!

Whew, that sure was a busy night. I'm guessing Barmy will be counting his coins over the weekend. He must of made quite a bit and still he won't replace that mat.

Lovely to see some new faces, hope you all enjoyed yourselves and will be joining us next friday.

    It's Green Dragon Friday again!

Get out your best dancing feet, a riddle, song, story or poem or maybe a tune or two to share with the rest of us Hobbits.

Lets see if we can make Barmy smile at his bar profits again.

    ((Please read OP for details))

Zara tells a poem to the audience, who listened in near silence

Another lively day at the Green Dragon, with many veteran inn guests and also a few new visitors. There were songs, stories, poems and many, many riddles. And even fireworks. They're best enjoyed outdoors, though, else Barmy will just close for "renovashuns" and raise the prices again!

It's also grand to see that there's plenty in the ways of entertainment. Keep bringing it with you, that's what keeps the night alive, and remember that folk music always pleases the locals! Should there not be enough time on the night for you to take the floor, there's always next time!

Just one more week until next Green Dragon Friday!

OOC: Apologies in advance if the "master of ceremonies" hobbit is somewhat slow in responding to your requests and offers. There's often 15-20 tell sessions to slalom through during the night, so it is a bit of a multitasking challenge *smiles*

Zara had a blast! Very busy, very nice to see so many faces, old and new alike, very much enjoyed the riddles and stories and to hear new music! Hope to see you all again next time.

A strange hobbit with a pointy hat and claiming to be a wizard plays a tune for the hobbits.

A friendly new face introduces themselves to the hobbits and treats them to a few songs.

Sadly I couldn't make it this week. I longed for it, because I had such a good time last week.
Hopefully I will be able to join in next week again.

I hope we get our collected events thread reproduced here, that way it is easy to keep an eye on all the events.

And it needs to get stickied too!

Oh and well done guys, nice event.

The stickies aren't available, according to our Landrovalian friends. They haven't made a topic sticky in about a year.

The GDF, HoF, Bi-Weekly Wattle and Comb are all included in the Free People's Press under the Server Events section.

All we can do is keep replying to the thread (Not bumping as this is against the CoC).
This should keep it fresh and eyecatching for new users/players.

Lovely pictures Duissane, you certainly capture the atmosphere.
I am so sad that RL keeps me away from this evenings nowadays. Is no secret I adore this event and the regular hobbits that are present there.
Hopefully I will make it in the future. I know atleast Ksys would love to join! (I never have as much fun when I am able to RP my hobbit)

    Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

I came eventually this Friday and must have came at the completely wrong time.

Was not the good hobbit time I had been given previously but filled with constant spamming of /flip from a member and I stayed for like ten minutes and left.

I know this is not the usual standard of role playing I have come to expect from the hobbit events so I will give this Friday another try as I know there is a lot of new role players joining us.

    See you Friday.

    AW: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

Ooh, Miss Hollybelle, what you saw was the hopping song. I guess that one can look pretty chaotic, in particular from a distance. *gives a chuckle* You see, for this one song, we all hop during the fast parts, and some of the younger and more energetic hobbits sometimes do backflips. But it only lasts for this one song, and is only done during the fast parts of the song (Miss Lina is always kind enough to put in some slow parts as well so we can catch our breath). It is quite a lot of fun to hop along and see who can reach highest, and to listen to Miss Lina's comments during the song. So please, do join us the next time, and I will do my best to see that no overzealous hobbits will land on your toes! *smiles and gives a friendly wave*

Will not be with you this Friday though a friend who now lives in Germany is visiting but hope to be around soon on Miss Lilyrosa.

    Green Dragon Trivia (GDT)

To be updated with irregular intervals, the GDT will contain information about the "lore" surrounding Green Dragon Friday, which may (or may not) enhance your experience of the event. Things to look forward to include information about the various parts of the inn and recurring activities.

The trivia will also be added to the GDF lorebook.

Green Dragon Trivia no 1 - The Rug

Lying in front of the fireplace where most hobbits gather for news and entertainment, the rug is a source of some consternation among the regulars. Frequently used as an area for dancing, the rug is now old, dusty and more or less worn down. The locals claim the only reason it still holds together is all the sticky ale spilled on it over the years.

Whenever the innkeep Barmy closes the Dragon for renovations, the regulars silently hope for a new rug. Invariably, they end up disappointed.

    Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

Ah that rug! One of these fine nights a lore-master is going to sneak in and do an archaeological excavation of what's underneath it. And they could be in for some big surprises - was this, for example, the last resting place of a famously-stolen pony? Could a count of the food scraps swept under it provide an authoritative answer to the vexed question of the edibility of Jiro's pies? Are there clues to the riddle of the lost mathoms? Watch this space for more intriguing details of the Shire's favourite watering-hole .....

    Re: [EVENT] Green Dragon Friday

This was the first Laurelin role-playing event I attended. I am a Laurelin player (starting a few months before the migration process to Turbine completed).

I have never laughed so much in a MMORP hosted event in my life.

The wit, quick posted comments really had me laughing until my sides split- I especially have to thank the hobbit with the pointy hat who served food to everyone too!

I attended with my greedy dwarf Disli and thereafter with my little Burglar Calanier- I said nothing at the event given that I am new here too! (I am far too shy )

To sum up... I was amazed at the quick witted comments which made me laugh out load and the friendly manner in which the hobbits said "hello" to everyone else who were ten foot taller than them.

I was, and continued to be enamoured, to the wonderful community which Laurelin has- my main character is yet to reach level 50 but I pop to Bree to help heal a peep or two in early quests, and I have always invariably found when I am in difficulty if another player is around they always help.

I cannot wait to attend the Elvish gathering in Rivendell too (I tried to run to Rivendell on Wednesday with my level 15 Smaragas but he died and respawned in Ered Luin!)

Finally, thank you to the incomparable Laurelin community- to say I enjoyed this event is an understatement!
