    Lv50 only kin?

    Hello everyone,

Since the release of Helms Deep there has been a lot of talk about the "end" of LotrO, and how the current end-game is a complete farce, and at the moment neither freep nor creep are happy with the state of the Moors.

I propose something a little "radical" - I have decided to re-roll a new LM, and I plan to level her simply to level 50 and then purchase a lovely xp disabler from the store. Everyone always reminisces about the old SoA days and how much better the game was back then (I know obviously we won't be able to get back SoA PVP - but why not PvE?), I was never around when the cap was lv50 and I think it will be an experience to see it properly "On Level". Since they have no intention to scale rift (which hopefully they won't in the future!). I propose creating a kin with simply lv 50 old & new players - and everyone is welcome to join, and perhaps we can recreate some of that SoA magic that has long since been lost?

If anyone is interested, send me a message/tell in game or reply to this forum post! Hopefully there is enough interest that we will be able to get enough players to run Rift with 12 x Lv50's!

    Laurraa.

I'm already using lvl disabler on an alt so I can do every area and qsts. however no matter how u try the game will never *feel* like it did back then.
I joined the game when moria came out and lvl cap went 2 60. took me months 2 get 2 angmar on my 1st champy and loved every minute of it

reminiscing about this game will only lead 2 sadness as its broken now. most of the gr8 stuff has been chopped in2 wings, ie fornost and hele. I wonder how many peeps out there remember Tomb of Elindil and actually did it on level?

lots of other servers have lvl 50 alts using disabler and doing old school stuff its a nice idea, its mainly the rp servers.

    gud luck

I have a level 51 toon, hunter with XP disabled, with the idea to do as much of Angmar as I can... The game right now is completely broken because of the DPS. Level 51 hunter doing 4500 crit Upshots. I could solo(with the help of herbalist though) any FS quest(excluding few export quests or quests which I can't use herbalist). I am willing to join the fun though, PM Cawti in game

It is of course highly unlikely that we will be able to get the game to feel as though it did back then. I was just curious to see how many people would be interested in running the old instances on-level to see if there's any challenge left in the game anymore. You would be suprised how many people so far I have had sending me messages saying that they think it's a good idea and they'd be happy to level a character to 50.

I mean I also don't obviously expect everyone to stay at lv50 forever, people will eventually get bored of the lv50 content once they have had their fill of the past, and perhaps once we have done that, we could level up to 60 and then reapply the disabler and enjoy the end-game there for a while. At least the raids back then were challenging and fun, and didn't require you to simply run around atop a wall and knock some ladders down -.-

It is afterall just something that I think will bring a little bit of life back into the game that so many people have become depressed with. I know it's broken... but its worth a try...

didn't say it wasn't a bad idea, we have been talking about doing the same thing in illuminati 4 a while now. plus lots of peeps do it across all servers. Ive even said I been thinking about lvling summit up without going thru moria and seing how easy/hard the game is without a legendary
as its been said b4 even the low lvls can solo the group content on lvl now so apart from revisiting the old content 4 memory lane there wont b any challenge in it.

    hopefully fun tho.

    I repeat gud luck

Could be necessary then that certain classes would have to play in certain trait lines so they are less OP which could create a challenge. E.g. Hunters can't go red, Cappies can't go yellow, LM's have to go yellow etc. etc.

Just a thought, could solve some of the issues

Nice stroum, glad to have you...

Thought I should also mention this to any players wanting to join...!

    1. Upon reaching level 50 you must buy an XP Disabler from the store - for 495 TP points. This will disable quest and monster kills xp and therefore will allow us all to partake in level 50 instances and raids and enjoy them on level.

    2. NO crafting is allowed, unfortunately the XP Disabler does not disallow crafting xp, therefore if you wish to do some crafting you must do it at the lower levels, and upon reaching level 50 you must be conscious of your xp.

    3. I will not force anyone to partake in raids and or instances if they do not wish to, this is supposed to be a fun experience to relive SoA days - you choose how you have fun.

    4. You may not, while levelling, access the Volume 2 quest line to gain a Legendary weapon/item, we hope that this will make drops more enjoyable and make running instances for a certain weapon more enjoyable.

    5. I do not expect everyone to stay level 50 for years on end, we will all eventually grow bored again of the lv50 instance cluster and the raids etc. When this happens and it agreed amongst most that it's time to level, we will level up to lv60 and then reapply our xp disablers and then enjoy the moria & lothlorien content. (We will do this so on and so forth up until either lv65 or lv75).

    6. I will ask if you join us here, that you are "fairly" serious about agreeing to these terms, and that you are looking forward to redoing (if not for the first time) the old SoA content on level. I do not request that you play your character religiously as though it was your main character (Unless you want to), it is afterall just for fun!

    7. I will not ask that you completely join this new kin on all of your characters, just one lv50 alt is more than enough unless of course you wish to join on more but that is your decision.

    8. Have fun & Enjoy your time.

    - For those looking for an invite send me a /tell to my new LM Elwiing, or as I said before reply to this forum post!

This would've been really fun if they hadn't destroyed the threat system. (Well, and the trait system ofc)

Out of curiosity, will RK's and Wardens be allowed?

Strange, I have a lvl60 champion for over a year and she processes all the wood for me. She never gained any XP from crafting, I did not check since HD release though.

Good luck with this initiative I don't have free character slots for another alt, and all existing ones are either too "grown up" or occupied and can't adventure freely. Not to mention that my whole interest for the game faded away.

    In response to Vroom,

Yes we are allowing RKs - with regards to Wardens, I am not sure how effective the tanking is going to be, I haven't played my warden much since HD, and obviously with the new trait tree system everything is different it all depends I suppose what kind of gambits the warden would have at lv50 and if they would be enough to be able to tank with.. If they are then absolutely warden's allowed!

    In response to Isht,

Possibly I could be mistaken about the crafting, I was just going by what the item description of what the disabler said, I'll have to check once I buy it and then if it does stop it, no reason why we can't craft as well then I guess

It's a great idea. But like Ishy my enthusiasm for Lotro is not what it was. I would've so been on board with this idea a year or two ago. I have an old level 51 champ (an elf, which was 50, but the exp inflation meant that a single quest I once handed in after an update sent him to 51). But anyway I left him behind in SoA in favour of leveling a Dwarf champ at the time, which I brought to end game, and right thru to lvl 85. That old elf champ is still there though, but dormant/retired. I don't think I've quested on him since Carn Dum way back in the day.

Yes it's so unfortunate to see so many good & old players who have lost complete interest in the game. This was the actual reason I decided to do this - as I myself at the moment am finding no fun in the game, not on freep, not on creep, nor in PvE. The whole game at the moment is an utter farce and turbine won't listen to anyone and are committed doing what they are doing till they eventually run this game into the ground.

I was hoping this idea would inspire some of the older players and those thinking of leaving to stick around and see if there is still "some" fun in the lower levels.

I'm in. I have a Guardian - Thingadan - recruited into the new kinship last night. I'm looking forward to running some of the old instances. Thanks for setting this up.

It does sound nice , but... but...

Far too many things changed since 2008.

Level 50 cap won't help you.

Due to massive gameplay changes, class revamp, faster combat, easier mobs, buffed mitigations and many other misc (veterans will get the point), playing at lv 50 will be far more simple in HD then it was in SOA.

LOTRO is a shadow what it used to be.

Only way is to make special server copyed 99,99% like it was back in early days. Without any adds from expansions nor improvments.

    Excat the same thing.

    Sadly , that'll never happen , nom'sayin?

Go make 6 man lv 50 group and do Carn Dum , if you can remember or you played 5 - 6 years ago, you will notice how easy it is now. Almost laughable.

Old LOTRO died with STORE intro mid 2010 , and will only sink lower and lower...

I can't speak for all vanilla players, but nostalgia grips me but one has just gotta move on and enjoy the game at present. The past is perfect only in memory, and there were big flaws in SoA such as the fact one would have to run all the way up to the entrance of Carn Dum only to die by the annoying trolls there; no pun intended, it's true!

I actually really like the idea of this, although I bought LOTRO at release in 2007 I never got into it, so I never got to see the lvl 50 content on level. I didn't start playing it probably till after Moria was released in 2009.

I might have to roll something (maybe a warden, as its the class I never really played all that much) and give it a go (although I have a lvl 32 cappy, a 40 RK, Guardian and a Champion that I could use) My level 53'ish Hunter has been stuck in Moria for about 4 years, poor guy must have a serious vitamin D deficiency by now... lol

If it is not too late, I would suggest doing the quests at Level 45 rather than 50.

A single Level 50 character can get you into the instances, then transfer leadership and leave - to be replaced by a Level 45.

That will be our intention with Club Eclair on a Landroval.
Meadowlarke Sweetweed on Landroval. Also nephews and Bounders Ayrhawk, Wrennsong, and Little Meadowlark Sweetweed
Club Eclair roleplaying group working our way through Volume III. We are currently at Level 63 roleplaying our way through Enedwaith as we escort the Gray Company to the south (Alphred Troute, Hedgerow Shrewburrow). https://forums.lotro.com/forums/show...See-the-Wizard

Club Eclair - The Bearclaws. A newer Club Eclair group that is currently at level 32 in Evendim (Trebble Strawfoot) https://forums.lotro.com/forums/show...acter-RP-group.
