This is why calling for help (call-outs) isn't always bad:

    The Future of Gaming...

    ... is weird.

    The time has come....

Yesterday, creepside managed to reach a milestone in the history of PvMP.

Under heavy LM artillery fire, we managed to capture a freep camp right in front of GV and are currently working on strengthening its defences.
The name of this camp is "New Gramsfoot". The name was assigned by the expeditions leader, Ishlan.

The new camp will offer many advantages, but needs a lot of effort to be kept well since the forces of the Free People seem to endlessly try to recapture it.

A very serious Guide to Tanking.
    Presented to you by NotSoSeriousGuy.

    INTRO

Tanks are one of the 3 basic roles to almost any MMO ever, with DPS and Healer being the other two.
What they do is pretty simple, they make hostile Mobs and Bosses attack them, so that the people in their Group don't take any damage, as they would die rather quickly if attacked.

    A Tanks requirements are:
    1. Armor
    2. a Cannon that's as loud as possible to make Mobs notice you OR strong vocal chords to support massive shouting
    3. Knowledge of certain mechanics

As most tanks are gifted with #2 and can aquire #1 by simply grinding a little, we will be discussing #3.

    Mechanics

You might be thinking right now: "If i have armor, and can get the attention of the enemy, why would i need knowledge of mechanics?"
The answer is simple. To avoid this.

It is good to know how the threat system of a game works, for all roles.
(If you are a serious person please read this https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Threat)

In LotRO, damage and healing generates threat - a value that determines who is being attacked. There is also force taunts, skills that force a mob to attack you for a short time period, additionally to generating threat and copying the threat of the player with the highest threat amount - placing you on top of all others in threat amounts.

So, as a good tank, you will want to generate as much threat as possible, before using certain instant-win skills like this one https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Hobbit-silence.
That's actually all there is to it for tanks.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some tips for non-tanks to make it easier on the tank to do his job and further tips for tanks:

    1. Put heals on the tank before the fight starts.

Anyone knows this, like this is way too obvious. Let's see the situation from the Mobs perspective:

    Targets to attack:
    1. Sturdy, heal-stacked Tank 2. Squishy Healer 3. DPS etc....

Of course, the Mob would choose to attack the Tank first, because obviously that's what's supposed to happen - like what NPCs would be smart enough to go for the healer?!?!? This is madness.
So,protip #1: heal as much as you can before the fight

    2. Use force taunts when DPS'ing.

It should be clear that one can only do maximum DPS when using ALL their skills.
Many wise men said you should live for the moment and not care about your future (yeah, totally). So, using force taunts MUST SURELY be the only way to DPS efficiently.

While at it, you should occasionally blow your fullheal skills like Triumphant Spirit and Wisdom of the Council.
In Reality, this is a next-level strategy. You heal BEFORE you take damage. Like, the moment where your Morale actually drops by 1 or 2 might come. You can't always be prepared for that. This is just like lottery - no risk no reward.

So, keep your mind at ease and just use it. One skill less to worry about.
If anyone asks, it was on cooldown. protip #2: free out of jail ticket: "it was on cooldown"

    3. Minimize your incoming damage by running around with the mobs on you

Every professional tank does this. It is fun. It makes you take less damage. Everyone is happy.

There are pretty much no negative aspects to this. You might one day get backstabbed by the Champion who you thought was your best friend, since he always ran after you. But other than that, who could possibly be annoyed at this?

    4. Pull a whole area with tunnel-vision on for maximum efficiency

Fighting 3 - 6 enemies at a time gets boring soon. As a Tank it is your job to keep your group safe and entertained. You are the alpha dog.
This means you must give them a challenge. Pull EVERYTHING!

When you pull everything, you can kill everything at the same time. This is a high risk high reward situation. You might die, your healer might die, everyone might die. But you kill everything at once.

You might ask, what is tunnelvision for? That is easy to explain. Your taunts and threat-generating skills obviously have infinite range and no cooldown - causing a situation where no Mob would ever dare to attack someone else or rip apart a group member who is far in the back. Tunnelvision is needed to be able to only look forward towards your goal! The dude in the back is a necessary sacrifice for the greater good.
