- Sunday the 5th at 7:00pm [RPF/R]: Classy Discussion held at the Bounder Museum of Antiquities, located at 5 Harrow Rd., Addernotch, Shire Homesteads. All are welcome. Classy Discussion happens the 1st Sunday of every month, topic varies--this month is a discussion about Burglars, aka Scouts.

- Tuesday the 7th at 9:00pm [RPF/R]: The Runic Knights Orchestra plays at the Bree Park across the the Bree-Town Jail every first and third Tuesday of the month.

- Sunday the 12th at 10:00pm [RPF/R]: Ride of the Free Peoples: Free Peoples, ride together in formation for the Sons of Numenor's monthly open patrol from points all across Middle-earth, then thunder across land striking fear into the Enemy before relaxing to an open stage concert. Escorts for new alts and those visiting from other servers! 2nd Sunday each month.

- Saturday the 18th from 11:00am - Sunday the 19th 2:00am [RPF/A]: A Day on the Greenfields An annual invitational music festival held at the Greenfields in the Shire. Hourly band schedule will be added here as the event draws closer.

- Sunday the 19th from noon-10:00pm [RPF/A]: A Day on the Greenfields An annual invitational music festival held at the Greenfields in the Shire. Hourly band schedule will be added here as the event draws closer.

- Sunday the 19th at 1:00pm [RPF/R]: The Department of Harmony and Song's monthly concert (Every 3rd Sunday of the month). Our concert venue is the Bree Festival Grounds Stage. We hope to see you all there!

So you have a Happening to share?

I would like to hear from you if you offer Happenings that are open to a specific group or the public in general.

This can be a concert, general social, adventure plan, raid, muster for PvMP, instance night, trivia contest, kin meeting, a crafting event, give-away, fashion show, RP gathering, chicken runs, market day, festival-based gathering, or anything else that would fall into the two groups listed in the above paragraph.

You can let me know about your Happening by either posting details in a reply, or by sending a Quick Post to Gammy. 72 hours prior notice at minimum is helpful to me.

Details that are useful for listings:

- if the Happening is RP (role-play), RPF (RP friendly) or NRP (not RP) based;

- location and time (in /servertime please!), as well as if escorts will be made available at another location if it's not easy for lower level folks to get to;

- if it's a one time, weekly, every other week, recurring or annual Happening. If the recurrence is not every other week, please tell me the pattern so I can rotate it correctly;

- if there is anything specific (such as: bring an instrument, levels x-x, or offered solely for Dwarves sorts of things) folks should know ahead of time;

- one or more folks they can contact for further information;

- if the Happening will be held in a language other than English;

- if there is a thread here on the lotro.com forum (no external links please) with more details about your Happening, as I will link the title of your Happening to that thread.

Worth Noting:
- I try my level best to update the OP by 1pm /server each day. Sometimes life doesn't let this happen, hence the 72 hour request.

- When events pass, the listing gets copied to the appropriate "Past Happenings" response.

- Recurring Happenings are rotated forward on the list after they happen, so they only appear one date at a time within a week unless it is a mutli day event such as a weekend that falls over the current seven day stretch.

- I try to keep recurring Happenings listings to 3 lines max because someday we may run out of room in the OP. For one-times/Annuals leeway allowed to five at most!

History for those who might care to know it:
On Sunday, August 9th in 2015, I started posting Landy events in the OP of this thread. I did so because of the Server Merges, although local Landys soon let me know that the list was useful, and they didn't want it to go away after my original plan of possibly ending it after Yule in 2016.

I started it with the hope that it would help those who had to move find out if Landy might be their new forever home or not. I thought it might give them an inkling of what life is like for us here, and I had also heard folk discussing possible welcome events--so what better place for those too, all under one roof, err thread?

What started out as the few Landy Happenings I knew from circles I'm connected to plus one kind soul who added theirs straight away before I had a chance to ask, grew to a listing that as of this writing now averages over 40 Happenings at any given time. Pretty amazing, what Landy folks offer, I think! Some folks who have left their old worlds behind are also part of our listings now. I am still tickled pink about the fact that they are now part of our community, and using this resource to share their own Happenings.

The Happenings List first appeared ("stolen fair and square") in the Vol. 3 Ed. 23 of The Lonely Mountain Free Press on August 12, 2015, and continued within until the end of its run in mid December of the same year. The list was then picked up and became a staple in the paper that followed, The Landy Lately, which released their first edition on December 23, 2015 and is still ongoing.

The Now Previous Version, because, why not?:
On Sunday, August 9th, I will start posting Landy events in the OP of this thread.

My aim for this is two fold:

1) To let folks who might or will be moving here know we are looking forward to both meeting them and sharing what we have to offer here.

2) To help those same folks experience many examples of the various sorts of player based things we organize to hopefully help them feel at home in the long run.

To that end, I am asking any folks, kinned or unkinned, that either plan to offer some sort of welcome event(s), or would like to extend an invitation to any other sort of event/muster they would like the server transfer folks to attend to let me know about it* so I can add it to the OP. Hopefully having one thread to check will make it easier for them to find what they might be looking for on Landy.

This could be a concert, general social, adventure plan, raid, muster for PvMP, instance night, trivia contest, their kins' meeting, a crafting event, give-away, fashion show, RP gathering, chicken runs, market day, festival-based gathering, or anything else that would fall into the two aims above.

Starting the Monday after, and daily after that, I'll do my level best to update the OP by 3pm servertime each day with any new offerings I get word of from folks. When events pass, the listing will get bumped to the "Past Happenings" response of the thread so the newcomers can still see what else happened in case they missed something that might be useful for them to know about for whichever reason(s).

I'm not sure how long I'll keep updating, but I figure at least until Yule time. It'll really depend on the timetable for the transfers down the line.

We all know that losing one's homes isn't an easy thing. So let's help them: either decide if Landy is their new home, or already feel that their new home is a fine place to be.

I am looking forward to meeting the community here. The server my wife and I play on will be closing. I have posted in a few threads here and I have to say you all seem so welcoming. My main is Simidale and my wife's avatar name is Isilmia. Both level 100 hunters. We have other ones too, these are the mains. We had a small kinship on our server but would consider joining one here. We pvm a lot and would like to get into role-playing too. We also have crafters... We have made chars on the server last night and plan to level to 15 so we can get a house... I suppose this is our introduction. We both have played MMO's a long time... UO, SWG... SL... We are active and are looking for a nice group of players. We have mostly played together alone the past year and will take this time to join in the community. On Thursday, Concerning Hobbits will have their weekly public social at the Burd n' Baby starting at 8:30pm.

This Friday (7th) at 9pm, the Bounders of the Shire will be holding a Fish n' Chicks Night in Overhill. The night is the 6th Annual Month a' the Chicken kick-off event, but given the transfers, we're bundling it in with other welcome events we'll be holding. Folks will be fishing, musickin', dancing, eating, hanging out and such. You are both welcome to join us. Don't worry about being greenies with RP, as the event tends to attract a mix of RP and NRP folks.

Rockfest is also this upcoming weekend, and I know they have a thread on this subforum as well if you like rock concerts.

Concerning your new alts, if the time works for you, on Sunday at 2pm, ESS will have one of their weekly meetups and they are currently capped at 12 trainings. You can read more about ESS here: ESS thread. It's an open slow leveling RP group that adventures together. Many folks new to RP are in the group, and I think you'll find everyone in ESS is very helpful in sharing tips and conventions we've all learned over time. Right now the group is adventuring mostly in Bree-Land, though a few folks are still doing catchup in starter areas.

Also, if you haven't checked it out yet, the Lonely Mountain Free Press thread, also on this subforum, is a weekly "paper" that reports on goings on in Landroval. The last page of the thread will have the latest edition. It's updated every Wednesday around noon.

Lastly, once you start meeting folks in Landy, I'm sure you'll also learn about other groups (based on kins/alliances or open to anyone) that offer weekly meetups of the adventuring kind like ESS, but for various levels all over Middle Earth. One your hunters might enjoy is Filidor's Army which is an open group that meets every Sunday at 1pm for level capped players. Mister Carndan also has a mid week evening group that's open for level capped folks, but they're not quite as regular as Fil's Army.

Just a reminder that the events do not have to only be social in nature. They can be adventure groups or one time meet ups for instances/deeds/raids. Some folks apparently thought only socials were allowed, and that's simply not true.

Also, if you spot any errors please do not hesitate to point them out so I can fix them!

Updated and added a few things tonight, but will do my brunch time-ish check laters today as well.

Also fixed the GHMS concert notice. In my head, I knew the date it should fall on again this month, but somehow still botched it. Mister Carndan set me straight, though, so sorries for any confusion there.

General Note: for events, bands and kins that have threads on the Landy subforum, I've started adding links on their Happenings listing to their thread on this subforum.

As of right now, I'm not planning to add external links because that could quickly turn into more work than I'm willing to do at this point, since one event could potentially have a link to however many kinsites, facebook pages, twitch, youtube, tumblr, special splash page of related fan sketches on deviantart, et al--just for one listing!

I got as far as the top of Page 2 for Landy tonight. I will dig deeper as time allows, although I won't be looking for links this weekend--I'll be too busy with so much going on in game.

If I haven't done the internal links for your event/band/kin yet and you want me to, feel free to reply with what to link to where, and I'll update those when I pick back up with that next week.
