Minimap/Radar missing from UI

I've already sent a bug report, but I wanted to put it out here since I can't really replicate what's causing this.

Twice in a matter of days, one of my toons (LM) has lost it's radar after going thru a loading screen.. the UI element just won't populate.. the box appears when you enter the mode to move elements around but it's empty.

The first time it happened, I relogged and it fixed. But today, nothing seems to help... I've closed the client completely, reverted to UI skin default, changed toons, changed areas, entered instances. Radar is gone for good.

Edit: other toons that haven't had the bug, display the radar correctly; unloading all plugins and switching back to 32bit hasnt helped either (I'm kinda trying everything here)

It's possible that you hit the keybind to hide it. Try toggling that keybind to bring it back. If you don't know what the keybind is, look through your keybind menu in the OPTIONS panel.

Alternatively, go to any of your other toons which is not experiencing this issue, and type the following into the chat box:
/ui layout save FileName
(Obviously, give it a file name, not "FileName".)
Then log into your toon which "lost" its radar and type the following into the chat box:
/ui layout load FileName
(Again, obviously, use the file name you specified when you performed the earlier save operation.)

I sometimes hit that keybind accidentally and notice my radar is not visible when I glance up to look at it. Just hitting my keybind (in my case, control-r) brings it back.

I did check on the toggle (I remember removing it in the past and it was still removed), so it wasn't that.

But I did get lucky with the UI load command! Thank you very much!
