    Returning player - LI confusion

    Hi all,

I see a few threads and articles on the revamped LI system, and I'm pretty confused in general.

    Few questions:

Where should I start? I have 3 characters lvl 120+ all with old capped LI's.

Do Scrolls of Delving, Legacy Replacement Scrolls and Crystals of Remembrance still work?

I have some Major and Minor Legacies vaulted, are these still usable?

Can you swap LI's out of combat like you once could?

Trying to get an idea what to do and where to start first. I solo mainly due to time limited playing time, is doing nothing an option by using existing LI's?

    Any replies are appreciated.

Basically no scrolls, crystals, legacies from the old system still work.

You can disenchant some of them for the new currency, Ancient Script.

Item XP runes are the exception - you can use them with the new "Reward Track".

Of those, only the last will likely be kept up-to-date.

You would do well to read the guides carefully before you start appraising your old LI's (which non-destructively gives you stuff for the new system based on how good your old stuff is) and building your new ones.

Item swapping in combat was removed.

Reward Track is really a whole other topic, which intersects with Legendary Items, but has non-LI stuff on it. One of the key tips is to use heritage runes on the lowest-level character you can, since Reward Track progress scales by level. Some folks specifically park toons at 45 so they can get maximum benefit from level-45-minimum heritage runes.

If you have any unimbued LIs, and access to the relic-master, you may want to Deconstruct them after Appraise, for a heritage rune, and/or Refine, for even more heritage runes. I wouldn't necessarily waste a Relic Removal Scroll, though.

Lastly, while Appraise lets you go over the Ancient Script cap, it can be very annoying to be in that situation, because it means you can't disenchant anything, and if you accidentally open an Ancient Script box from Reward Track, you may actually lose currency (although maybe there's a confirmation dialog?). Generally, it's better to stay under the cap, if possible, and Appraise the old LIs only as you need more barter currency. That does consume inventory slots, though.

If you are at the Ancient Script (AS) cap (10,000) and you open any item awarding AS, the awarded AS will be lost. Same thing for any quest, event, etc, awarding AS. Any AS over the current hard cap of 10,000 will be lost. So if at or very near the AS cap, do not open any box, chest, or other item, complete a quest awarding AS until you have spent some.

As said above, the exception is AS from appraising an old LI. Now does this exception hold if you have AS and then appraise, I do not know.

If you are starting new characters, the below won't be of immediate need, but you will need the information once you start to enter Moria.
