Angry Gold Hobbit Gifts for VIPs are often a joke!!!!!!

Okay, so VIPs pay money every 3/6/9/12 months to have perks that the F2P players don't get. One of these is the Gold Hobbit Gift every Thursday. Sometimes the gift is really nice, but more often than not, it is simply mediocre. Understandable. But some are a hard slap in the face basically saying "Sc**w you, pal, your money is no good here!" Things that should never, ever be a Gold Hobbit gift, a gift which is something that we are paying cash money for are freaking useless dwarf candles (only the tiny percentage of Role Players have use for them, if even them), potions of morale, potions of power, potions of restoration & potions of rejuvenation. Come on, SSG, treat your paying subscribers better than this!!!

I have to agree with this. Dwarven candles, minor morale potions, things that no one uses.

"Tiny per centage of roleplayers" Ok sure, we might not have the numbers of Warcraft RP, but were not that insignificant... otherwise Laurelin would have been shut down back when they punted the EU servers to the US. And I don't think *anyone* has a use for dwarven candles.

I agree though, that the gold presents are more like copper most of the time. They remind me of long ago when SSG, then Turbine, had the christmas presents as daily login in December and the drop rate for anything good was so low that the only thing that they ever gave out was coal.

I agree! At least they seemed to remove the VIP redundant 'gifts' the 'no repairs cost tome' and the 'rapid crafting boost' from the weekly gift pool of rewards. These were absolutely silly to receive as a VIP member as those benefits are included in our VIP benefits.

Perhaps the weekly gift is primarily so lackluster because it is not an exclusive VIP gift as anyone can trade mithril coins for a chance to spin the wheel. VIPs get one free press of the button per week.

that actually gives more reason to make them better if people are paying real cash to spin the dial then it should offer way better stuff

You missed the point. Being able to purchase spins for MC means players can buy spins - without the need for real cash. MC is bought with LP and those can be earned in game. The only true "real money only" roll is that single VIP roll per week. Sure there are probably players that pay for the LP, to buy their MC, but I don't think the game determines any difference between those and players that grind the LP in game.

Agree with OP though. Even if it is only one roll per week for VIP real money, they need to take out all the rubbish from that bag.

    Angry

This ABSOLUTELY Needs to stop. This was my Silver and GOLD gifts this week...

You have acquired: [20 Virtue XP].
You have acquired: [Battle Potion of Restoration].

You have acquired: [50 Virtue XP].
You have acquired: [Battle Potion of Restoration].

If this happened occasionally every Thursday, it would be almost (well, no, not really) acceptable. Be the Gold Gift paid for by monthly subscription or by mithril coins....this needs to stop now.

actually you missed the point LP is bought with money meaning that so can mithril coins meaning that it is unfair to give everyone trash just because of some people working to earn LP instead of buying it.

There could be 3 categories of rewards: regular Hobbit box, VIP only Hobbit box and a mithril coin Hobbit box. That rewards VIP and prevents the LP farmers from gaming the system.

Sure they can be bought with money, but there is a free route to them, which means they are not classed as a "paid" item only, like VIP sub is. A player cannot grind for a VIP perk, that is the difference. I agree, people shouldn't be given trash because some players grind freely, as I have already said, the rubbish in the gold gift needs to go. That said, the rubbish in both bags needs to go IMO. But that gold roll is a one time per week VIP perk, and any above and beyond that are not necessarily paid rolls - which is the way the game looks at it.

Really good point. I feel the gold hobbit presents should simply be Vip with no mithril option. And completely loaded with useful things. I stopped bothering with hobbit presents, months of virtue xp, and miniscule amounts at that. When doing one single ered luin deed rewards the equivelant value of 10 months of gold hobbit rolls at 50virtue exp per, they stopped being exciting and a fun chance for me long ago. Really, mithril coins, even if it was just 10 coins here and there. Perhaps deed slayers, a few other neat things....but those 'other neat things' are hard to suggest as aside from spending money on expansions, LP grinders get all the same things pretty much.

    Treat Vip's better.

I have to wonder if the chance to get something decent in gold boxes was adjusted to take account of only 52 tries per year. Consider virtue xp as but one example. Silver standard reward of 20 xp x 365 = 7300/annum compared with only 2600 from Gold's 52 x 50 and while I haven't kept records it feels like am more likely to get ones larger than the standard 20 from silver - tho this is likely due to having 7 roles instead of just 1 per week.

Over the course of a year silver boxes are more rewarding and for years I've thought if I had to choose I would definitely take silver over gold which means the gold boxes aren't serving the purpose of being an enticement to sub. Suggest a look at the chances of getting motivating rewards from Gold boxes and set them so it is very likely players will get 4-6 good rewards per 52 chances.

This week's "gold gift" is yet another slap in the face. "You have acquired: [Morale Bubble Potion]."

All I ever seem to get is pots... the daily are far better because you have 7 chances to 1 to get something. Therefore the Weekly is a complete broken mess and should be removed as a benefit from VIP because it really isn't a benefit.

Frankly, I rarely open any of them because they are so rubbish it doesn't enter my wheelhouse to even bother. Just another broken system that was invented to replace another broken system (lottery) and then left to fester.

What is annoying is that to new players, this and the VIP version is something they would interact with every day / week and should be at least perceived as something good instead of something of a joke. A throwaway mechanic that we just go through the motions with - OR NOT!!

I agree, some of the gold gifts are just awful. Even hardcore gambling addicts would lose interest quick.

Gold Today opened for first time in months:

You have acquired: [50 Virtue XP].
You have acquired: [5 Universal Ingredient Packs].

Silver today opened for first time in months:

You have acquired: [20 Virtue XP].
You have acquired: [Battle Potion of Restoration].

I would rather they removed this mechanic altogether to be honest because no items is better than the insult that these are.
