    Cowering is fun.

No, I'm not talking about from dread.

I've been doing the vol 1 epic line on my hunter (on 1.12.3 now, at level 50) and I've come to notice that angmarim everywhere are now doing the 10s cower/"stun" ability that made its debut in Mirkwood.

I got hit with it by random normal or signature type angmarim dudes in Annuminas, random normal type angmarim dudes in angmar, and I get it on the angmarim types in the rift skirmish as well (on solo mode.)

My guard doesn't much care about being incapacitated for 10s with 3 mobs beating me up, but for any of my squishier classes this is downright painful.

Well they removed hounding fear. I guess they thought they had to add something else to make up for it.

Weirdness, I have been doing the EXACT same content on my 53 captain and have never encountered this once.

Just wait till you get to book 14 or 15 in the Mirobel Ring Forges and the creepy goblin anklebiters hit you with the poison debuff that will stun you even longer.

Hunters remove poison And those are only 10s stuns after 20s poison duration, the pale folk in Library, Carn Dum and Urugarth do it too.

So while, yes, previously I thought it was annoying, it doesn't even compare to the cowerstun.

    Ways to prevent cowerstun: ???
Ways to prevent palefolk poison stun: hunter remove poison, poison pot (maybe), LM stun immunity, guard turn the tables after stun hits.

Well, I may be inviting lolwuts? by saying this, but the cowerstun was the death of me fighting the Nazgul at the end of the Helegrod treasury. And yes...this was with the inspired greatness uber buff. If it helps my case at all, I did defeat him the second time, after popping a hope token and using some DPs.

I think I literally got that stun like 6 times during the fight.

If you can give us the names of any of the mobs that you feel have done this we can investigate further, but on cursory inspection their behaviors are untouched and do not include any such skill.

    Re: Cowering is fun.

Case 1 (which inspired this thread):
Book XII, Chapter 3: Barad Tironn
    Ein; Angmarim Interrogator

    Case 2
Rescue in Nurz Ghashu Skirmish, Level 65, tier 2
Hale Beolach Seer (but not Hale Beolach Spellsinger, they just summon annoying ghosts with 4 dread)

    Case 3
    Carn Dum
    Tarlakh encounter
Angmarim High-Priest (may have happened on the spider summoner dudes too, I can't remember)

    Case 1 I am 100% certain on, case 2 99%, case 3 about 80%

BTW the nazgul at the end of the treasury is just plain old cowering because he tosses heaps of dread on you, not the same thing. in all of these cases I was at 4 or less dread.

And thanks for looking into this Orion.

The Sig in Menelband in Annuminas(Gulderchir?) that has the item that is the object of 1.10.11 does this attack. I was on my 63 Guard, and was helping a friend on her 53 RK, and I cowered while she took out the mob. Kind of embarrassing, really

Just to note: I'm talking about the 10s "stun" debuff effect that causes your character to shake with fear and put their hands in front of them instead of the normal "stun halo" animation with the lolling head motions.

Happened in CD whilst I was tanking on my mini too at the troll + waves of mobs encounter before getting into the castle.

Not good for the tanking healer to be cowering in a group of 4 with the other 3 players in tehre early 40s lol.

Especially when it takes Hammerhand off :/

I've done this many times now, and I'm certain this has always been the case, it is not new.

Hehe, but perhaps you would be better off going to CD when all are at the appropriate level then, 48-50? However I'm not sure I have seen fear cowering in this encounter before so that might be new.

    Re: Cowering is fun.

I had this happen to me in the epic book quest, I want to say V1.12.3 (I hope that is correct. This is the one where you go to find news of Lardean. (I know spelling is bad)

I went solo on my lvl 60 hunter. You go up to the place where the mob starts his discussion on how much fun he is going to have. My hunter was hit with this cowering stun at least 4 times in the fight.

I really noticed it the first time because I took damage of like 3,900 and 1,800 and one more for about 800 points before I could even get a shot off. That was the end of the insprition bonus!

Then the adds would come and I would have the cowering effects again. It was a rather quick death for my hunter.
I wonder what IS behind that waterfall?
    The Player Council knows!

Yes, this has always been the case and is not something new. There is a way to avoid this, but hey that is game play.

Nothing in data suggests that this should be happening. I'll need to look into the Dread issue - it might be the culprit based off of what I am looking at.
