Dear Orion: Tactical Mastery Rating?

Would it be too hopeful to assume that the upcoming Tactical Mastery Rating that you referred to in the Warden-centric blog would also be reflected for the Minstrels as well?

Is this the much-desired change that was mentioned regarding having BOTH our Songbook Healing Rating and Weapon Tactical Damage Rating converted so as to add to both our Healing output AND Tactical Offense?

That's an interesting continuation of the idea. We know there was a problem with scaling of the Tactical Damage Rating on LIs (not sure that the problem existed on Healing Rating). So, why not make them both unified Tactical Output and have it be the same rank on weapon and class item so we get double contribution? Very nice idea!

I expect that Tactical mastery is for all classes. However in typical fashion, turbine has poorly communicated the change. Like usual they throw something out there without fully explaining how it will work. Having it for all classes will be good, however, they need to do a better job making sure existing pieces reflect this change better. There is still old gear out there that didn't get corrected for the combination of crit or offense or mit/resist ratings.

Also to me the important part is how are our existing relics in our LI's going to get treated. Straight subsition of Tact Offense or Outgoing healing will piss alot of people off. Tact healing classes had to make some tough decisions on whether or not to keep the superior old relics or switch to the inferior new relics to maximize healing. Making the new Tact Mastery available only on new relics coming out (expect new crafted and lvl 75 relics with the update) means that money spent on relic removal scrolls to keep the old relics will be wasted.

Not only that, will we see the tact damage/tact healing rating on our LI's become Tact Mastery? Might be nice to have LI's that can serve both purposes? Might be nice to have an all in one book and all in one weapon. Might not do as great a job as having a heal book and dps book (same for weapon) but should be able to do the job well enough given the simplicity of the current content.

If this change passes, you will likely see adjustments to your legendary items so the contribution remains the same.

Currently = 100 healing and 0 offence from book, 0 healing and 100 offence from weapon

Tactical Mastery change = 50 healing and 50 offence from book, 50 healing and 50 offence from weapon

Just a guess of course. Numbers are arbitrary but you get the idea.

They may also want to combine melee offence and ranged offence into a "Physical Mastery Rating" as well, seeing how pretty much everything that gives one also gives the other.

It would be great if this comes for Guards too! Then i don't have to switch between my belts all the time and 2nd age belts would be better for Overpower.

I noticed Orion said something about heals over time for Wardens getting upgraded. Any chance that SoS gets some kind of boost? It still seems a waste to equip the capstone for that skill.

A part of me died inside too... but fortunately some survived the great shard purge on buffing and dps implements... there may yet be hope for this mini....

First off, I find it highly unlikely they'd convert a stat for only one class, so yeah Minstrels and the other two tactical classes should find plenty to like in update 5 even if they don't do anything else.

Second, Orion only said that they're combining the Tactical Offense and Outgoing Healing ratings, not that they're combining the Tactical Damage and Tactical Healing ratings. Given that neither Tactical Damage Rating nor Tactical Healing Rating seem to be linked to Tactical Offense Rating and Outgoing Healing Rating in any meaningful sense, I see no reason to assume that they're going to combine those as well, and several reasons why they wouldn't. Combining TO and OH makes sense since they come from the same sources for the most part and scale in exactly the same way. TDR and THR are weird compared to the other ratings we have and don't scale the same way as each other (look at the difference at the TDR and THR ratings on 75 items), and don't seem to apply in the same way. They don't even show up in the character journal any more. I really don't think they're going to muck with them.
