    Coda Damage

I meant to get ahead of this, really I did.

I am unsure where the difference in damage came from; I am looking into this now as a bug and hope to have a resolution soon. This was not an intentional hidden change as it currently appears.

    LOL... <---IRL

I know a certain sub-portion of the game that is going to be sad to hear this....or maybe just even more resigned.

Me, I take what I can get. Thanks for letting us know either way.

Oh...man. I can already taste the Creep tears.

@ Orion, can you please look into the problem with Chord of Salvation? You seem to be the only one really on the ball, or willing to talk to us. I'm going to punish you for that by throwing threads at you. I made this one in Beta but it didn't get much attention - this is really my number 1 complaint about Mins now.

    http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...d-of-Salvation

It also seems other classes have similar issues given these threads

Can you say if it is indeed a bug or if the Devs are aware of it?

I don't think 'fixing' CoF is strictly necessary, as it was previously an immensely powerful skill. With the pause reduction too it's going to be painful for those poor boars.

That said, I'm sure some overreactive people will be pleased to hear this. *subtly points at the CoF complaint thread*

    Re: Coda Damage

Phew, this really lightens my heart. Coda of Fury was certainly a bit too powerful so I could have lived with like a 15-20% decrease in damage but this, fortunately, unintended change was ... harsh.

While you're at it, have a look on why all anthems expire *on the whole group* when using Coda! I'd almost guess there's a link to the damage bug. So while you're at Coda, check this too please. It's rather annoying, especially since the tooltip very clearly states that only the minstrel itself should loose the anthem effects on coda use.
Yep, 'Yaviere' is the Hobbit name for an autumn holiday. But then of course, you knew that ;)

Well good to know this wasn't intended as a ninja nerf. Appreciate having a class dev that communicates quickly over these issues .

To be honest as said in the above post a 15-20% damage nerf is perfectly reasonable, but I still think that %40 out of nowhere (if it had been an intended nerf) would be quite steep.

Hopefully the CoS issue gets looked at as well.

    Re: Coda Damage

Happy Holidays Orion and thanks for the info. Hope you can look into the two minstrel in a group issue with playing the coda. I can understand it removing the buffs you have put on from you, and the group (which kinda stinks), but removing them from the other minstrel is a nightmare especially when one is healing and one is DPS. Ran two in a group last night and every time I hit my coda, her tiers would reset. Thanks again for all your help.

I think I have discovered what happened.

It's likely going to end up with a little lower damage than it was before, but not as badly as it has been hit now. The same holds true for Coda of Resonance. Will keep you posted, but likely dark for the next day or so on this one.

    Re: Coda Damage

I'm pretty floored this wasn't intended and I sincerely hope the damage is kept on the lower side than what we had before when it is fixed. That may seem like an odd request from a Moors minstrel, but there you have it. I don't want to feel bad playing my main in the Moors

I'd like minstrel in the Moors to stay a thinking class - not a lightening RK equivalent

Separately, I very, very much appreciate the removal of the horrendous pause post Coda use. It makes the skill so much less painful to use

Will Coda of REsonance's aoe heal be affected at all?

    Reasonable nerf/buff/whatever its called.

Could you give some exact numbers, like %'s? I dont like the amount of "a little" since it could basically mean anything

@Orion - Thank you! I've let my Mini alt sit for about a year until you're changes in RoI. At first I was upset that it had changed so much but after learning the modifications it's been my funnest toon. I've enjoyed playing it again and have now passed my main toon in levels. I'm glad to hear the CoF nerf was unintentional. Some of us really enjoy it. Thanks again.

And yes -- having codas strip ballad buffs only would surely make the coding part of the development task easier.

However, I suspect that it would be balanced with what is otherwise a coda nerf ...

    Re: Coda Damage

Thank you Orion!!!! I am so glad this was finally addressed since I bugged this twice in beta and told my mini friend to bug it as well. There were also forum posts about it pre-U5.

For those that asked how it's bugged:

Pre-U5 my high end of my base damage for the CoF with 3 minor ballads and anthem of war (10% tactical damage) would 3.045. I had devs (with Relentless Attack, Blade Brother, and To Arms) in the 7-8k range (I have the combat logs). Post U5- the high end base damage with all the same buffs is 2,054. A devastate today was 2.4k or 3k. I cannot tell you how upsetting that is.

This is with 5 red and Call to War traited. I have the following stats: Will: 2039, Fate: 646, Tactical Mastery: 25,570, Critical: 5,765. I'm not sure if this information will help you or not.

Another bug I noticed, which I will bug in-game, is the Gift of the Hammerhand. It does not work for raid members (as the description says it should) but still only works for my fellowship.

Once again, thank you for addressing this bug, as well as your re-vamp of our class in RoI. You have vastly improved it. It is a lot more fun and interesting to heal as well as dps. In fact, we are finally a valid dps option. Thank you.

Thanks so much for the update.. I LOVE the evolution of the Minstrel class.. love the fact that the Minstrel can switch roles between damage or healing.. much like the RK or even Captain.

All of the classes have evolved since 2007 and it's great to watch how LOTRO continues to unfold..it's like reading a good novel, I can't wait to turn the next page.. more and better content.. than any other MMO I know... never wanting it to end. In Update 5 .. I actually had tears in my eyes on certain parts.. I felt myself being drawn into the Lore. Was fantastic. Truly Epic.

Sure there are imperfections but honestly for the most part, I have nothing but praise.. except for the ingame GM support. I think they lack greatly and need to learn how to properly treat customers. Because we are customers.. at least I know I am.

I don't see a reason to reduce the damage.. not even slightly. The Minstrel really has so little dps compared to other class skills, like the LM's improved sticky gourd or the hunter's rain of arrows, etc and so on. Every class has weakness and strengths both.. The dps Minstrel has more weakness than all. Codas are not even an instant skill for us like the other class aoe or hot skills.. we have to work up to it.

But I guess it is some technical issue with removing the animation delay, etc. This animation delay that everyone keeps talking about.. I never even notice it. Personally, I'd much rather have my Codas untouched..

I'm sure that many would agree.. so few people/players actually even read the forums, much less post opinions so they cannot possibly be reflective of the greater lotro community. To those dps mini haters.. about dps self healing, I hardly ever use those skills because it consumes too much power. I use pots like other classes do... by the way, other classes have self heal skills too. Thanks again!

Thanks Orion i hope it's fixed before my whole vacation is over lol. was really hoping to get a good few weeks of leveling in on my minstrel and with CoF being hit so hard its a little frustrating to see it not even hit what the tool tip says.

    Enjoy the holidays!

    Re: Coda Damage

Thank you Orion for bein pro-active on this issue, I was wondering Do we have an estimated fix date?

Also, I think I read that the damage for codas was going to be "a little" less than pre-U5. Do we know how much less?

I've been leveling a mini (38 now) and prior to U5 he could handle 3 blue mobs pretty easily as he could fear one, kill one in one cycle of minor-major-perfect ballads then "coda of fury", leaving one left to kill and one still feared.

Now, when I have three Light Blue mobs, I can still fear one, leaving two, but it takes so long to kill the first one (I usually have to go through the three ballads, the coda, then use Improved Piercing Cry, and Call of Orme) with the 2nd pounding on me. The fear wears off and I'm left fighting 2 again, usually having to pull out all my tricks and ending with just barely any moral left. (and this against light blue mobs)

It's making leveling him a real pain. I haven't bothered with even level mobs yet, but pre-U5 I was leveling my mini at the same time as my Guardian and Champion. I would run one through a series of quests, then the next, then the next. Each making it through with similar difficulty. Now the mini can’t keep up.

I guess I’m just saying that I hope “a little” less is really just a little.
