The shame of the NBC network

I'm not a fan of the Olympic games, Nor the fact that they are here in the UK. I personally feel that they money spent on the Olympics could have been better spent actually bringing this country out of recession or atleast helping towards this matter. For me, it's far more important than 19 days of running, jumping and shooting arrows at targets.
However, I am a fan of celebrations, general good times and remembering people who are heroes. I feel that people who give up everything for others, even unintentionally and innocently, deserve our deepest and greatest respects.
NBC took that respect and pissed all over it.
During the Olympic opening ceremony , NBC cut the dedication to the victims of the london 7/7 bombings because it wasn't "Tailored to a US audience" and instead aired an interview with Michael Phelps.
This is an absolute disgrace, a slap in the face to the people who lost thier lives and to the family members and loved ones they leave behind in this world and NBC should be taken to the wire and disgraced for their actions.
Why is it that the CEO and board members of NBC are still in their jobs? How can they even look at themselves right now in a mirror without being disgusted with their actions?

A victim of terror is a victim of terror. It doesn't matter which country they are from. By doing what they did not only did they spit on the graves of the fallen in london, but they did it to all who have died as a result of terrorist activities and that includes the victims of 9/11 (or lets say it right ... it's 11/9) as well.

52 people died that day and many hundreds were injured. It wasn't just Brits who lost their lives in the 7/7 bombings.. The dead included victims from..

    Poland
    Turkey
    Nigeria
    Iran
    Romania
    Tunisia
    Vietnam (Vietnamese born, American raised)

and I could go on with more.

The arrogance of American media astounds me to the point where I am no longer surprised but this shocked me to the core. NBC need to make an apology to all the victims, their families and to every victim of Terrorism around the world for their blatant disrespect.

But if they showed that America isn't the only country to suffer from terrorist attacks, it would stop the less intelligent among the American population from feeling like special snowflakes and thinking that their country isn't the sole and noble fighter against injustice.

    Corrected.
Also see Marshal plan and about every infrastructre project(bridges, rail-roads, "autobahns") ever on the planet.

What you probably meant was, "banksters" gobbling up taxpayer money won´t bring countries out of recession.

Governments take the money they spend from taxpayers. Whatever government spends money on, taxpayers have to pay for. No new wealth is created, no growth or increase in economic output is achieved. It's like breaking windows and then hiring people to replace them, or spending money to dig holes and then hiring people to fill them in. Likewise, "building bridges" doesn't cure recessions. Going deeper into debt doesn't cure recessions. Real economic growth in the private sector does.

We've seen Keynesian ideas discredited yet again in both the U.S and in Europe during this current recession, and after billions in bailouts, stimulus spending, and trillions of dollars in debt later, there's still no end to the recession in sight, when typically, recessions last 1-2 years. Yet, stupid politicians of all parties (here and in Europe) still seek to do more of this stuff. It isn't going to work, and we (as well as future generations) are all going to continue to suffer because of these idiotic, yet persistent policies.

I'll take my infraction with a side of bacon, please.

Government spending is one of the main ways to end a recession. Anyone who has studied economics knows this. Anyone who just listens to party propaganda probably does not believe what every economist knows to be true.

    Dear Dorothir et al,

Bashing America because NBC is a money grubbing waste of airwaves is unfair. "Special Little Snowflakes?" Is that how you think we view ourselves in connection to terrorism? No, not quite.

America is a very large and diverse country, with many different views, political leanings, education levels and level of global awareness. Perhaps you need to think for yourselves instead of letting the European Brain Washing Machine tell you what you should think of Americans.

Perhaps you should visit America and see for yourself? Or, meet a few normal Americans online and exhange emails for a while.

Painting Americans with such a wide brush and making outlandish claims like we want to be considered special for a terrorist attack proves that ignorance is NOT an American specialty, and it can be found in every country. Such a jingoistic and biggoted idea makes me think that the ones who post and agree with this drivel are the ones with the need to feel like 'special little snowflakes' themselves.

I know it may be fashionable to crack on Americans where you live and you kinda have to do it to be one of the cool kids, but seriously, get an international education, grow up and don't rely on regurgitating mass media slur campaigns against other nations. It just comes off as stupid.

If they were purely bashing Americans I'd agree, but what's your take on NBC's actions? I must admit I was a little surprised when I heard. Imagine what the uproar would have been if during a 9/11 memorial, the BBC cut to an interview with David Beckham?
    'Tis but a scratch!

Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't aware I labelled all of America and its inhabitants as 'special little snowflakes'. Oh that's right, I didn't. I said the less intelligent. You know? The thick. The stupid. The mentally deficient. Unless you want to take on that title, I'd suggest you not get so bent out of shape about something that wasn't directed at you. Or, you know, actually read what's written next time.

That should be enough to make it pretty clear why we do not permit political discussions.
