Reputation system suddenly turned off for players

Anyone else notice this? Recently, you cannot give rep to certain players. No idea how widespread this is (some or all players).

When I try to give rep it says "You must spread rep around ...". But I have never given rep to that player before. I have plenty or rep to give out. I have seen several others post how this is broken now also.

One worry I have is that posters critical of Turbine have had their ability to get positive rep turned off.

Thoughts? Solutions? Anyone else notice this?

Players can voluntarily disable rep for themselves. This is most likely what you are seeing.

Check their reputation field. I am betting they have a single gray box meaning that the reputation system is disabled.

No it is not turned off as far as I know. Yula, not just the grey box. Lot's of green ones.

Well, I don't think the system will allow you to +rep a poster more than once in a certain period of time. And it might be that someone who's recently picked up a lot of +rep might have it "disabled" by the system, if that makes sense. At least that's what I've guessed from what I've observed.

You have given that user too much rep (positive or negative) recently. The system does this automatically to prevent players from farming each other or from one player with neg rep ability from smashing another player into moderation.

There are two other reasons:

1) There appears to a lifetime limit on how much reputation you can give a user.

2) There is a time limit on reputation.

Both of these are in place to prevent customers from farming reputation. Two friends can not +rep each other to very high numbers. There are folks like Khafar that I can't give any reputation to. I've hit the lifetime limit for Khafar. It must been over year since the last time I was able to +rep Khafar.
