Yh, same place as they usually are, no-where!!!

    It's very unprofessional.

Maybe Lord Lucan has them, perhaps at this very moment they are being proof-read by the Loch Ness monster, although I personally think that schrodinger's cat is giving them the 'once over'!............or is he?

I have to leave for work in 15 mins. Was hoping to have a chance to see the patch notes before then.

This seems to happen way too often and it's does nothing for the game dev's reputations, perception of professionalism or my confidence in the team.
The devs don't post the patch notes, a community manager does. He puts together the bits and pieces which the devs gave him in a readable form.

I wished they would do it like in other games, 1-2 days earlier. In Turbine's case it seems the CM gets the text only when the patch goes live and needs some time to complete the notes.

Kinda curious about what they are doing with this update since, if I remember correctly, this is the third downtime in three weeks. The patch seems small and the scheduled time is a little shorter than some.
The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.

It's almost certainly the fix mentioned here: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?469130-Official-Lag-Reports-Requests&p=6422513#post6422513

They might also be pre-loading more Rohan data too, but that's just speculation on my part.

I would much, MUCH prefer more frequest downtimes if it means faster resolution to issues.

    Yeah, thx Neumi.

I'm not that pedantic, it still comes down to the Turbine team. And actually, your post also seems to imply that the devs are still responsible!!! ..........I really don't care who, the point is they are not doing what they say they are going to do! Again.

Please sort yourselves out for next time, either provide the relevant notes, or remove the statement that they will be available during downtime, simples!

Looks like the default messaging got posted instead of the correct message that should not have included any mention of patch notes. There are none.

This patch is for some minor adjustments to the performance tech we added in the last patch. We identified some issues with it (issues that led to the Windfola crash last week) and believe we've resolved them. The tech, as before, will remain disabled until we're satisfied that everything else is stable (and wasn't accidentally impacted by these changes) before we select a single server and enable the tech again for testing.

As with the previous test, we won't be mentioning which world, when, or for how long the test will run to avoid any possibility of people reporting things inaccurately. We have full monitoring of this tech so we can see very easily what is and isn't happening.

From when I've actually noticed in the past, the patch notes usually seem to become available about halfway through the downtime. There has only been one rare occasion lately where the notes (very brief) were released with the notification of the down time.
    So, I'd say they'd be up soon-ish...

    Edit- scrap that, lol

Every single time there is a scheduled down time it says notes will be available during down time, but never a link in the launcher for the notes. I search and search and get very frustrated trying to find them.

On the "LOTRO Releases" page please put the date of the release in the title so we can try to figure it out. I.E. The highest number update is 7.4 however there have been at least 2 server down times since that was posted and the event it discusses was going on during the down time that I found it. Was this update prior to that down time? When the servers came back up, no changes per what 7.4 said. So I ask, what year/date was 7.4?

Where are we now? we are at least 2 server updates beyond when I found the notes for 7.4 yet 7.4 is the highest numbered update to that page.

    So... Patch is for:
Fixing the lag = Epic win.
    ... But could...
Crash a server = Epic fail.

Choosing wich server to use will be fun, but in case that you do, i'd appreciate if a server broadcast message like "don't do raids in the next 30minutes, the server might crash" because otherwise it's highly dissapointing.

    Dear Sapience,

As I mentioned, my Lotro client just updated 640+ files (or parts of files) so there is some client update.

A short quote from your profile page (http://my.lotro.com/user-34)
    Hotfix
    ....
For a client side hotfix you’ll usually get notes or some other notice of what is being addressed
So, is it really just a server side fix ?

It would also completely invalidate any test results, and all efforts we are making. Even posting that this will happen (which is why we're not saying what day/night/time) is probably going to have a negative impact on the results.

See the link further up-thread to the Official lag thread. Sapience gives a pretty comprehensive explanation of why they won't do this in that thread.

If they do even a short-lead-time announcement, they'll get "helpful" players doing things like rushing landblocks, or finding lag that either doesn't exist or is due to a different issue via perception bias.
The forums are not an accurate representation of the thoughts and feelings of the whole player base. Those who like a particular feature are in the game enjoying that feature. Those who don't like it log out to mention it on the forums. It is a relevant but biased source of feedback, and any claims of community desire should take this fact into account.

    Please don't mention Brandywine FIRST!

Could barely play yesterday. I've known more than a few people that have switched servers to find them lag-free and return on occassion to immediately note the ongoing issues there.

Not just Brandywine, got hit with a 45 second lag on Withywindle yesterday while in Blackwold Camp on a low leverl alt. Some kinmates got wiped in T2 Foundry because of same lag all 6 of them.

    Inn League beer delivery

Did this patch lengthen the repeat time for the Inn League beer quests?

This hotfix only changed what I noted above. No other changes were made.
