    "Skip lottery" option?

    Hello!

Just as Steed Lotteries pop out, and as a couple of my chars already have their class steed, I was wondering: could there be an option to skip the lottery?

I often tend to use the (very handy) "select all" button on to of the Lottery page, but when it comes to a lottery giving something I already have, I'd feel a bit guilty to alter the odds of winning of my fellow burglars/guardians (in this very special case) by participating in a lottery of which I wouldn't be able to profit.

Thanks for listening, and good luck everybody (incl. me)!

    Regards,
    Skro

I usually use the select all-button and manually deselect the characters I don't plan to play anymore. But it's getting a lot at the moment. 13 character entries at the moment.

Btw, thanks for announcing the class steed loteries.

What exactly do you want? an UN-select automatically characters that already won that lottery prize for you?
It is great that you want to play fair, so why not UN-selecting the character yourself?

Sorry, but I see this kinda post as being:
    1) a waste of time
    2) a request to waste efforts of a webdev/gamedev
    3) a joke
    4) an attempt to appear altruist
    5) the need to post something and get +rep for item 4.

Good luck with your other chars that haven't gained a steed of the class yet.

Don't see the point, where would be the difference to just unchecking the chars in question?
Used to play: 85 Champ / Captain / Runekeeper / Guardian, Guild Master of everything but cooking.
Playing now: Hellcat / King Tiger / GW Panther / IS / KV-5 / M4 Sherman and more

Un-checking the char is OK, when you just have a couple of lotteries going on.
But when they have a 3-to-4 days duration, and are mixed up with a whole bunch of dailies (such as at the moment, or during festivals/anniversaries/events), this requires more concentration.

BTW, that's just a "my two cents"(tm) suggestion, that I would understand being put all the way down the pile of "things to do on this site"

I still think that what you are asking either already exists (UN-Checking) or just not worth the effort.

I can totally see what the OP is getting at, but really, I think the option is there already. It will just take a few minutes of work on your part to unselect those characters for that particular lottery. The amount of time it would take a dev to code the solution you're seeking would be significantly longer.

And really, lotteries are a bonus and not guaranteed nor is there troubleshooting/help readily available for them. It is just a nice thing the company does for players who are interested in participating.

To me, this just seems like you want to give the dev's extra work so you can be lazy. Just check the ones you want, or hit select all and uncheck the ones you don't want. I see no point in changing this.

It'd might easier for them to make the mounts and other BoA stuff flagged as account bound rather than adding an opt out option.

The opt out button would be a time saver for sure for those with who play on more than one server with 7-8 alts on each.

Geez I couldn't believe the title when I saw it. This is not an issue, if you have time to enter the lottery, you have time to deselect the toons that don't want to enter a particular lottery. Yes, when there is a bunch of lotteries it may take a few extra seconds - less time than it will take your toon to get to a mailbox most likely. Of all the 'opt out' features I would like to see Turbine add, this would be at the bottom of the priority list.

Easiest way to not have this problem is to skip the lottery to begin with! Think of the time you'll save not running to the mailbox for a few fireworks. /e sarcasm off

YES! Do not use the 'enter all' button and then click on each lottery you do wish to enter. This will allow you to enter only those lotteries you wish to enter and none you do not.

Well, actually, I can see the benefit to an Opt Out - but perhaps not as the OP originally stated.

I, too, have a number of alts scattered across several servers - I'm a serious alt-a-holic. When the Class Steeds lottery opened, I selected all, then removed the ones that already had a class steed. However, the lottery was open for many days, and I usually check daily to see if any new lotteries are added. During that time, I leveled 4 alts to L20 so I could enter them into the lottery. Each time I had to search for them amongst the ones that had skipped the lottery. And everytime I checked, I had to scroll through all of the skipped ones to see if there was in fact a new lottery below them.

I know, it wasn't a big hassle, but a "Skip Lottery" button (instead of an "Opt Out") that removed the characters from that lottery and didn't show them everytime I checked the lottery would have been convenient. Not necessary, mind you, but convenient.

FWIW, I didn't win any of the steeds, but it did get me to play some alts on the other servers that I haven't played in awhile and earn some more TP for deeds. And there's a huge difference between a L16 Warden and my L48 Warden - had to learn things all over again
