    Valinor

My question is will turbine create a valinor expantion for lotro?

If turbine is to do this in the future I think that would be, awesome because players now would get the opportunity to go to another land across the sea.
Turbine could make the region levels 90-100 and the only way to get there would be out of Dol Amroth in Gondor. Even though in the books they sailed out of Erid Luin.

What we do in Valinor, exactly? That'd be like going to Elysium in a game set in historical-fantasy ancient Greece. And what justification for any characters other than Elves to go there?

Aside from the story issues with doing so, I'd have to echo Maxjenius - what would be the purpose? Sure, it would look pretty, but what would we do, who would we fight, and simply why? If its just that you want to go somewhere which looks extremely visually impressive, then I suggest you download Bullroarer and wander about in Lossarnach and Ithilien - but I think we're even less likely to get a Valinor expansion than we are to get the Lonely Mountain.

Turbine could use there imagination and create mobs and bosses over there for players to fight and could add in certain areas that are corrupt.

Frodo, Bilbo and later Sam (IIRC) go there because they were Ring-bearers. Gandalf is a Maia, so he is from there (and is also a Ring-bearer). I believe the appendices say that Legolas took Gimli there and it was allowed because of their great friendship (and they were also members of the Fellowship).

We used to joke that we should make an invisible path west over the Sea, and if any characters of the Race of Man got to the end of it, it would reset the server and everything would have to start over.

No such path was ever made, nor will it ever be made.

Well, they could get within sight of it, as is hinted at in the Silmarillion:

And tales and rumours arose along the shores of the sea concerning mariners and men forlorn upon the water who, by some fate or grace or favour ov the Valar, had entered in upon the Straight Way and seen the face of the world sink before them, and so had come to the lamplit quays of Avallone, or verily to the last beaches on the margin of Aman, and there had looked upon the White Mountain, dreadful and beautiful, before they died.
So you could, in theory, put a random boat somewhere on the
shore of the Great Sea, which a player character could take and
sail over sea and out of the atmosphere and get a glorious glimpse
of Valinor. Just before suffering permadeath.

    This. Would. Be. Awesome.

You'd have to disable in-game screenshots and regular screenshots somehow....

But it would be a nice touch for when the game finally does go down (as all online games eventually will). I occasionally give thought as to what I'd like to be doing in-game when it comes down, and this would prolly be it.

Well then it wouldn't really be Valinor now would it.

It would be cool if turbine were to create a valinor. I mean they were able to create Forochel with little to no information from the stories.

Valinor is essentially meant to be heaven - and part of the definition of heaven is something that has no flaws. So why would we go there, other than to hang up our sword/bow/axe/rune stone etc.?

I don't deny seeing it would be cool, but it couldn't be anything but a last hurrah for the game, and as MoL has said, its not gonna happen.

Eeek! If heaven has no floors, then the top of the tower of Tirion on Tuna is a very dangerous place...

I do like the idea of being able to sail West, right at the end of the game as they are 'turning out the lights'. A glimpse of Valinor would be a most wonderful thing. But they would need to provide a very big boat so that I could go with my entire kinship (yes, with lots of Men and Hobbits and Dwarves smuggled in for the ride)!

Maybe when Mordor has been brought down, we could go to where Eowyn rested up, click a bed and be asked if we want to sleep, and then dream that we are in Valinor and get to wander about a bit before waking up again
Or maybe we get near death one day and hallucinate that we are in Valinor.

I'd be nice to get to see the place, even if it's just a little peek through a dream or similar
