How much are you into cosmetic outfits?

Part of the fun of this for me has been putting together cosmetic outfits for my characters. However I see a lot of players at my level and a lot higher who just have equipment gear and no outfits. Seems like they are just there to play the game and are disinterested in appearance. As pragmatic as I usually am, I'm kinda surprised I go in for all the trappings others probably consider superfluous. First thing I usually do when I log on, is pop into the AC and see what cosmetic outfit stuff is available (I also check for practical stuff).

How about you? Pics if you got em.

I have to leave, but in short, Laurelin is filled with folk that pay attention to the outward appearance of their character/s, though this may come as small wonder. I saw this also on Landroval. And I too have given much thought about outfits in the past, but for a long while now I am content with the set I have.

But yes, there are many folk that love and use the cosmetic outfit system. There are even dedicated websites and blogs about it.

One of my most favorite is the clothing that Aragorn has.

It doesn't bother me when low-level people are wearing quest gear for outfit, they might not even be familiar with the cosmetic system yet, but when lvl100s are ugly as hell, that's another matter.

Cosmetics have always been the end game. Now more than ever.

    Agreed !

Now, if Turbine would had all the unique looking instance and raid item as cosmetic, I'll buy many of them. I don't mind if they want to wait for the new endgame stuff, since it's new, but there is no excuses for content nobody run anymore like Isengard. For some reasons, they started by adding the rift armor to the skirmish camp, but they stopped.
It's ridiculous that the only way for me to have, for example, the burglar Isengard armor set, I have to run a burglar and grind for it (you can't talk to the trainer if you are not the appropriate class).

It's obvious by now Turbine stopped caring about making money from the cosmetic. All they have to do is put a bunch of them in the store, takes like 1hour (the assets are there), and it's done, people buy it. But even that is too much to ask. Better to had a new mount or pet I suppose. Meanwhile, money stays in the wallet.
Meanwhile, SWTOR and Rift, and many others are making a lot of money from cosmetics. Even from a marketing standpoint, it makes me want to bash my head on a wall.

The saddest part for me is the non-dyeable isengard sets. They were dyeable in beta and they looked amazing, really nothing else in LOTRO comes close to them. Turbine quickly realized that they were better than store exclusives so they made them non-dyeable and they stayed that way. My biggest heartache ever when it comes to cosmetics. People used to complain a lot about this, but now even the fashion bloggers left LOTRO.

I love cosmetics. 7 slots is just not enough.

One thing I have come to realize is that if I see like a level 10 all decked out, that's probably the newest alt of someone who been playing for a while, wearing hand-me-downs.

I do with my alts. I have them all looking good. Damn spoiled brats...

Agree totally. I'd buy a lot more if they were available.

I love cosmetics but I tend to stick with one or two outfits (or at least colour schemes) for each character. Occasionally I give something else a go but I usually end up wondering who this stranger is and change back.

The characters that wear just equipment outfits have their own charming. When I create a new character, sometimes I feel it looks misplaced with a fancy outfit

For me, with the weapons, shields and stuff, 250 wardrobe slots (premium) are not even half of what I want.

My thoughts exactly. I spend a lot of time setting up cosmetic outfits for my characters and replacing the current ones.

Honestly, to me the cosmetic part of the game is amongst the most important things. Generally in games for me, character customization for me are incredibly important and I always spend sooo much time customizing my character. I have 6 outfit slots all of which I use. And being on Laurelin I try to make them logical and RP.

    I have a Combat outfit, a Bar/Tavern outfit, a Casual/Town outfit & a Kinship Uniform.

Looking good for me is incredibly important. The most amount of Turbine points & Mithril coins I've spent has honestly been on cosmetics, shared wardrobe and Laila's market. I pre-ordered nearly every expansion purely to get the cosmetics armors like the Hammehand ones.

For judging others, if someone is low level or new & looking bad. I really don't care. But when I see end-game people looking ugly af, I think to myself how someone can allow that. When I was new to LOTRO I had no idea how the Cosmetics system worked up until many weeks later. So, I can forgive it to the low levels.

I also inspect anyone I think has a good outfit and check out every outfit slot of theirs including their biography. Sometimes I compliment people that have amazing combinations of cosmetics/dye etc. And I've gotten a few compliments myself.

So finally, I think it's safe to conclude I am in love with cosmetics.

Same here. If I outfit a new toon with pieces only available in high levels, I feel it's dishonest somehow and it really bothers me. It's as if the toon hasn't "earned" it yet. A while ago I was only able to run the game on lowest setting and beginner gear and crafted outfits looked really ugly so I avoided them. Now that I run on highest, I realize they can look really good. Simple, but good.

I love cosmetics. Usealy while leveling I get an inspiration and I stick by that theme. Maybe changing some details.

In general I like my hunters with bare arms and a quiver as they should be light feeted and agile. Heavy armour classes however.. I tend to give them good protection.

I'm not much into it. My main character (and most my alts) just uses his gear and looks... Pretty terrible. Though he has got a suit for partaking in festivals. My hunter though uses a red dyed Ranger set, and looks pretty snazzy - Its surprising just how much a dye can help with an outfit. My warden wear a pair of fishing waders, and with a splash of green dye it looks fairly like a set of military fatigues, which suits how I see him. Finally my Minstrel(s) always has a floppy hat. Regardless of anything else, the floppy hat is an essential piece of minstrel attire.

... I do need to sort out an outfit on my main guy though, he does look terrible.

I have too many characters to give each a proper outfit, but my highest (at level 100) are all wearing cosmetic outfits. You can see my various designs in the cosmetic thread here: https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...osmetic-outfit, where I added my postings from page 150 on.

If you are looking for new ideas, there are also several blogs like the Cosmetic Lotro, or the Starry Mantle, although their activity has waned within the last year or two (like in the case of the Lotro Stylist and Lotro Fashion), due to the fact that there aren't so many new designs out with each update as in former times

Max deco slots and 300 wardrobe overflow (after server merges/closures)...it's highly addicting.

Here's some of my characters outfits. Along with that, each has a cosmetic pet. Both Hobbits have a spotted shrew. My Captain and Champion have a white swan and my Dwarf has an umber goat. The LM has a goat too and his regular pets are specialized as Polar Bear, Storm Raven, Mountain Guardian, Ember Eagle, Onyx Lynx, Polar Cub and Spirit Saber-Cat.

So much in that I have outfits typically planned out for the progression of areas they'll be adventuring. Bree-land, Ered Luin and Shire. Then onto early Eriador, then later Eriador/Epics. Then Moria/Mirkwood. Then Enidwaith/Dunland. Rohan, and finally Gondor. Oh, and don't forget cold weather areas.

We need more wardrobe space. Period.
Now with cosmetic weapons, even more. I'd suggest an armoury. Like the shared wardrobe is for clothes, an armoury for just cosmetic weapons.

Cosmetics are a major fun factor for me in any game I play and I spend HUGE chunks of time getting my characters to look the way I want. I'm not ashamed to say that I spend money on it; because it allows me to enjoy the game that much more. It's an added dimension to the game-play experience for me. The only downside is that I always run out of bank/cosmetic space in every game that I play, to name a few: EQ2, SWTOR, WoW and Lotro.

7 cosmetic outfit slots is definitely not enough and I wish I could get more space in the wardrobe now that we have cosmetic weapons (YAY!). I am also disappointed that they do not update the store cosmetics anymore, but I guess that means I get to keep more of my hard earned money. :P
