So we all know that game masters (or game moderators) cannot watch everything in the game 24 hours a day 7 days a week on all servers.
Now there are some games which are working with player moderators already and some of these games have had improvings after using them.
What I mean is that LOTRO will appoint some (experienced) people which are quite active in-game and on the community (forums).
These people will then be able to observe in-game and take action if needed.
What they can do is for example:
-Observing players ideas and suggestions for the game.
-Be a direct point of contact between community and the real game masters.
-Organize and monitor local player events.
-Get contact directly if a bug is found, instead of sending the ticket and waiting for days.
-Mute players directly who are spamming the world chat and give them a direct report to a real game master so they can deside if muting is enough or not
Ofcourse this is just an basic overview on the idea and it has to be thought out much deeper. You cannont give a player moderator all the "power" abilities like muting on his first day so they start muting everyone. But these player moderators can just normally enjoy and play the game, while also doing the moderator part at the same time.
But the idea will make it that the servers are covered a lot more hours a day, so there can be a more active, social and better community, more contact between game masters and players and new and experienced players can forward things like:
-questions
-bugs
-ideas
-problems
-etc.
These player moderators should then have a direct way to contact eachother and a direct way of contacting the real game masters for "the bigger things".
How to choose or find these player moderators is up to LOTRO ofcourse, so they choose who they trust and think are the best for the community.
Also LOTRO has to decide how to make these moderators visible in game (special portait, name, title, icon on forum and chat?).
And instead of paying these player moderators with money LOTRO can offer them in-game rewards like free VIP as long as they are moderator, or free LOTRO points every month while being moderator. Or the player moderators can just be volunteers.
Like I said, it is just a basic idea and there has to be made a whole plan ofcourse that will fit by both game masters and community about how many player moderators, who they will be and what they are able to do in-game.
But let me know what you guys (and girls) are thinking about this idea, does it sound like improvement to you?
