My personal opinion as always.
My understanding that it is part of the transition. I believe there is a post by Cordovan on this issue.
Standing Stone Games is a new company. It does not have any reputation or background on the web. SSG sends out a bulk email to lots of people. The web alarms will go off. Most if not all of the emails be shot down and destroyed in transit. SSG will be blocked from sending any emails because they are a spam generator.
There is a bunch of background work that has to be done before they can start sending these kind of ads. It wouldn't surprise me if takes SSG several months.
Turbine had this problem with my ISP Comcast. Periodically Turbine would trip one of the Comcast alarms. Comcast would block Turbine at their edge. Delete all the emails from Turbine that entered their ISP. Comcast would not even deliver them to the spam mail folder for their customers.
Spam is such a big problem that most Spam is deleted by the email providers. The last number I saw is that 97 billion spam emails are sent each day out of the 205 billion total email. Hence the email providers are very aggressive at pouncing quickly.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.
