Sorry guys, it has to be said: Erebor is lacking, leaving us wanting.

Not even attempting to relate to the lore, we do have in game experience from two dwarf fortresses/dungeons.

    Thorins Hall and Moria.
Obviously not counting Zigilgund, Othrikar or other places as even comparable by a longshot in this.

So that leaves Erebor, still under construction we hope. Basically it is a larger Thorins Hall, with even less dungeons and minor halls. The entirety of Erebor would probably fit INSIDE the 21's Hall of Moria.

So what does it leave us? I think we expect something in between Moria and Thorins Hall, maybe half the size on the habitable areas of Moria, not counting Foundations of Stone or Redhorn Lodes here, but The Delvings, Dolven-View, 21st Hall, 1st Hall and some more. That might have been a decent size for Erebor, plus some dungeons. Since Erebor is in fact inhabited and has been worked on by dwarves for ages, it should of course look more finished and polished. Zelem Melek comes to mind. Black and gold stone, very impressive.

You have a good start, but right now its just a larger Thorins Hall.

Agree. After all it's the current dwarven kingdom. It should be a huge. Not as big as Moria but at least the size of Thorins Halls. Right now, it's just one great hall which doesnt even contain crafting benches lol. Come on, it's the dwarves we're talking about here. Meanwhile, Thranduil gets an impressive area.

Please consider making the inside of Erebor bigger, and add forges, lots of forges, better yet a huge crafting hall like in Thorins Hall.

I'd even say... somewhere between the size of Moria and the size of Thorin's Hall (maybe a space that's comparable to at least Zelem-Melek OR Nud-Melek in size? Like an 8th of the total size of Moria- not as big as Moria, but substantial enough to make Thorin's Hall feel poorer and not so grand or vast in comparison- Thorin couldn't stand living in Ered Luin).

Erebor should, pun-intended, "dwarf" Thorin's Hall to a -lesser- degree. Bigger than Thorin's but not as big as Moria- let me explain what I mean below:

They already have the method to make it bigger than Thorin's Hall and yet do-able in the update: they used it in Thranduil's Court / Felegoth- with those thin, winding passages that lead to many smaller rooms, granting the sense of a huge place while conserving developmental resources at the same time.

Simply have a lot of skinny, winding passages, up and down flights of stairs, to give a sense of breadth and depth- restore the Erebor Raid's original entry-way and have the door to the Allegiance Hall branch-off of the interior "crossroads" where the Erebor raid begins, and definitely have paths leading -down- to the depths where Smaug's treasure-hoard was, and a nice touch would be the sundered path leading back-out to the "Secret Door" that was collapsed by Smaug (i.e. so that you can retrace Bilbo's Footsteps from the collapsed hidden entrance down to where Smaug-was, I'd highly encourage optional "Hobbit"-based session-play's as Bilbo, Thorin, and others, I'd encourage a "remembrance-back" to Bilbo's encounter with Smaug (seriously, re-skin Draigoch's model for this, it would be so awesome)- also, could add more to the "Lore" deed with blue-text, following Bilbo down to where Smaug was, albeit in reverse).

Also, of course, I'd want to see Thorin's Tomb with the Arkenstone on his chest and Orcrist (maybe... have a "hole" in a sarcophagus where the Arkenstone's on Thorin's remains' "chest" while also visible from the surface of a carved relief of him)- and crafting halls, forges, mining lodes, smaller trading halls, etc. etc. etc. They could use the same technique they've used with Thranduil's Felegoth Palace with a lot of these areas- to fill-out the range and depths of Erebor beyond the Allegiance Hall in a manageable manner- thus, larger than Thorin's, smaller than Moria, a nice medium in between- where it's believable that Erebor's loss, in pure game logic, was a -big- deal to the Dwarves, and that no, neither Thorin's Hall nor Zudrugund / Thror's Coomb were "adequate replacements," as they were not-

This being an MMO, I think it's safe to say that we'll see more of Erebor in future updates. There's lots of room to grow under the Mountain.

REMOVE Rohan Kingstead Homestead from the open world map it ruins the immersion and a shame for the ART.

    Good to hear!

But to echo others, would like to see some more of it with U22!

    Cheers

And sometimes you didn't want to know the end… because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing… this shadow. Even darkness must pass.”

I bet Bingo Boffin would have fun adventuring to the new locations, including Erebor, so that he'd have something to talk to Bilbo about.

As a side note, I hope we get Thorin's grave added in later. It's a small, but important detail and point of interest to visit I think.

I really hope this is so, but when things get left for later updates, there's always the risk that they get forgotten (like the connection between the Dead Marshes and the Wastes) - or players have less reason to return to them (like the additions to Minas Tirith - those who had already finished exploring the original city didn't go back to see the new additions).

If at all possible, I think it's vital that Erebor is expanded before U22 is released so that the proper experience can be had when players arrive, rather than in U24/U25, or whenever we return to the north after Minas Morgul.

And one final point - correct me if I'm wrong and this has since been added - but Erebor has no crafting facilities whatsoever. Erebor without useable forges? Thror would be rolling in his grave!

    Looking forward to it, MoL.

The execution is very nice and it is obvious to see that dwarfs have a better consistency and material usage over all than Man, taking Minas Tirith as example.

I can wait for further expansions of Erebor. For now it would be nice to have crafting facilities there with all those expert crafting trainers around.

I didn't check all chairs but to be able to really sit on them would be great. The benches at the elven halls are working fine so far.

I'm glad to see MoL reply. Honestly, the new area is AMAZING. I couldn't believe how awesome everything was. Scale is great too. And Dale! Dale is AWESOME. And then I went to Erebor. I was really surprised by how small it was. Basically just a smaller Thorin's Hall. I'm really hoping what MoL means by "future updates" is that as U22 is tested on Bullroarer, more will be added to Erebor. Because as of now, it feels completely off compared to everything else. I mean the entrance is awesome! And then I'm just like "This is what 5 armies fought for? Where would a dragon even hide in here?"

We definitely need more Erebor. Show us where all these dwarves actually live (premium housing inside Erebor?); give us a crafting area; let us have a look at the treasure hoard and Thorin's Tomb. Also... please please please please let us ride mounts in there! Goats, at least!
