    Cosmetic Basket - Strawberries

An idea for a future cosmetic item.

    The Strawberry Basket

If you combine the shape of this basket...

and the strawberries and flowers from this one...

You would have a basket fit for a Hobbit!

As Samwise once said: Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It'll be spring soon. And the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they'll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields... and eating the first of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries?

    Great idea!
But you do know that strawberries are better like this:

Now I made myself hungry qq

I prefer to eat them with someone else's fingers.

My mother taught me to dip them into sugar and then eat them, holding the stalk with your fingers. Or cut them into pieces (of course without the green part), mix them with sugar, and drop them into a bowl of cool milk.

Only if hobbits could pop into Walmart to buy strawberries, as those are very modern-looking... (hint: in past times they were smaller and rounder, you can see that in old illustrations)

They have to be big enough to render at lower resolutions. This is a game, after all. Besides if you don't get the seeds on them (the 'freckles') one would think they are cherries. Even you have admitted in the past certain liberties must be taken for the proper functioning of a game-world.

The stuff the hobbits grow should look quaintly English (like from a Victorian country garden), not like an ad for Whole Foods

    A Strawberry-Themed Festival! Yes!

    Strawberry Pet

Nonsense, we wouldn't have a strawberry drink pet. They would do a strawberry bog lurker, like the pumpkin one: except it would be a Giant Strawberry with vine legs and a little strawberry blossom flower for a hat.

Cosmetic berry baskets - why aren't they a thing yet? Red strawberries, blue blue/blackberries, can accommodate a variety of colors and cosmetic needs.

There are already two apple baskets in Lotro, and egg basket - held items are always fun, plus more ways to pummel at goblins.

Did you know, Lotro is a massive lorebreak because it is projected on computer and they didn't have those in Middle Earth.

This isn't a lore thing, man, it's just that if you're trying to be quaint, folksy and nostalgic by having baskets of berries it'd be a nice touch to have the fruit look the part as well as the basket.

Part of 'looking the part' is being able to understand what it is at a distance. On the tattoo mastery shows that is the major mistake artists make: a thing can be seen and understood close up, at the distance the artist is while creating it, but from across the room all it is is a blob. SSG artists already made this mistake with the 'Woodland Crown' and to keep from making it with this idea SSG will probably have to make the strawberries even bigger than we find irl, otherwise they will be left with a basket of red-blob just like the Woodland Crown ended up being a bird's nest. Unlike the Woodland Crown the Strawberry Basket would not be able to be fixed using a larger color pallet but it has to be worked so that the objects are large enough to throw shadows to give the individual strawberries depth, form and separation. The Strawberries should be identifiable from anywhere inside the main hall of the Prancing Pony.

Hang on, wouldn't they fake it anyway? Surely they wouldn't render them as individual strawberries, or have them casting shadows on each other. Your expectations seem unrealistic.

That seems a bit much as well...

Are you an artist? A Tattoo Master? A Web Master? A Graphics Artist?

Where's your common sense? We're not talking about some fancy CGI still life here, but one item in an old game where the graphics aren't particularly detailed. The graphical 'budget' for rendering any one item ('basket of strawberries' in this case) within a scene is going to be sadly limited and nowhere near modern standards.

Sounds like a 'no' to me. I happen to be one of those things I listed. I think your expectations are too low, or you just want to argue.

    Really?

    Wild Corn

    Wild Watermelon

Crops have always been bred for both size and flavor, at the same time. Sure, it usually takes awhile for the flavor to catch up with the size but it does. Everything from corn, to water melon, to apples, to oranges, to grapes have been bread to be larger, juicier and tastier than their natural wild parents.
