Black Book of Mordor - Chapter 10

Went on to the beta and got a quest auto bestowed called "Introduction - Vales of Anduin". If you read the details it says : "The Black Book of Mordor will bring you to the Vales of Anduin in Chapter 10". So...

    1. How do you get the next epic quest in the beta. Is there someone to speak to?
    2. We have only just finished chapter 8.7, so what happened to chapter 9?

    Anybody got any clues?

Black Book quests aren't normally active on Bullroarer to avoid spoilers. It's usually in the notes, I think, but they must have missed it this time.

Update 24's Black Book of Mordor content is not available for Bullroarer. Got to have some surprises for you all when it goes to the live servers

I'm seeing a lot of questions about this, so I figured I'd jump in and add a little to what Scenario said.

Update 24 will have two more chapters of the Black Book of Mordor, and Chapter 9 will indeed pick up in Skarhald, where Chapter 8 ended. It'll lead you to Chapter 10, which takes place in the Vales of Anduin. But neither of them will be available on Bullroarer, so you can focus on checking out the other quests that are available instead.

The Black Book concluded last time in Skarhald in the wake of some rather big events. The raid seemed to deal with some of the aftermath of those events (as far as I understand it from watching slightly ropey quality videos/talking to other players). Can you confirm that the Black Book will remains solo friendly and that any story covered in the raid which relates to the story in the Black Book will be either recapped or clearly explained in the first part of the new chapter?

I can only say 'Don't worry about it' so many times. But I can say it this one more time, I guess: don't worry about it. :P

Please say that You will make it so that we will be able to pick up Black Book in new regions from now on without having to start in Mordor, go through all of Mordor and NM Black Book just to be able to continue playing Black Book in Iron Hills, Skarhald or the new Region. Make it as it was with epics. In many new regions (changed new into every, as every was perhaps not 100% correct) You could basically pick it up without having played the previous regions.

Pretty Please with sugar on !!! *kiss* *hug*

    1. Obviously not remotely true.

    2. The Black Book is part and parcel with Mordor. I don't see any reason for a secondary on ramp.

No need to break up the Black Book... YET. All updates to The Black Book comes with trait point, and all quests are well told. Mordor Black Book have few chapters and is very easy and fast done.
At Mordor launch several kinnies did the black book entirely the launch day… Did i mention the well told story?

What's not remotely true ??? During Epic, before black book, You could in many areas (it's why I said basically, not always, yes I also see that I wrote every and that might not be 100% true, my mistake on choice of word, I will correct that) simply pick up the epic from that region. Not having done the previous one. I have done that on many occasions on various alts, so yes very true. saying not even remotely true would indicate that You almost could never do that in any area at all. However you could in many areas.

Besides that, it is ok to disagree. I respect if You have another opinion, but facts are facts.

That in itself is a design I am not a fan of. That trait points are tied to the Epic or Black Book. Just as I'm not a fan of trait points being tied to having to do Big Battles. Not only do them, but get enough promotional points to unlock them, or buy from the store. It shoud never be designed that way in my opinion. Trait points should simply be earned/unlocked as You level up Your character and when at max level You have the current cap of trait points as well. Alternatively there should be many various ways to earn trait points, so that in theory You could overcap, but since there is a cap it would not matter if You did all the different ways and earned more. That would leave players with choices and they could play the way they liked and still earn all the trait points they need at level cap.

Yes, the story is nice in most of Epics, as well as Black Book. I'm a big fan of MoL's storytelling. I especially enjoy Jarnfast and Ered Mithrin. Still one should not be forced to go back and play old content just to be able to do the epics (or nowdays black book) in whatever happens to be the current level cap area/region. I also think it forces You to buy Mordor and it is not enough to buy just say Where Dragons Dwell or NM (unless that has changed). In the past Epics where free, but with Mordor the Black Book became so that You had to buy Mordor to play it. Now basically forcing people to pay for an expansion they really have no intention of playing through in any other way, just to play the Black Book in newer other areas they have also paid for. That particular thing does not affect me, as i have all areas unlocked, but I still think it is a bad design idea to do it that way.

Still I respect You having another opinion, but I thought I needed to reply to Your reasons and explain my reasons for wanting it another way. It is totally fine if You still disagree though.

    Very true.

I may not have been clear to everyone on my second point.

The devs may not want to go through both the intense unnecessary hassle and possible confusion of adding another way to get into the Black Book which STARTS in Mordor (allowing the devs to only need a single quest to monetarily gate behind Mordor Purchase) and also possibly cause unnecessary confusion by having an on ramp in a zone completely unrelated to Mordor while still requiring Mordor to have been purchased to access the Black Book at that point. If an on ramp were added to Vales of Anduin people might misinterpret that they could gain access to the Black Book line at that point with purchase of Vales when they would NOT. The entirety of the Black Book is tied to purchase of Mordor.
