i see that the every thursday weekly free bee has gone away.
im not overly surprised since it was pretty rare that something being offered for that week as a free bee was really worth the effort.
offering up one dye isnt going to endear yourselves to most.
and since the weekly has gone away im figuring that the daily hobbit gift will make the same departure soon as well.

Probably we could still ask why information on the launcher is provided/deleted in a quite random sense and why the launcher as the front door of the game is no better information source (including its tiny design). After all it is the one and only "must see" information source about the game. Anyone that plays the game will see the launcher window.

IMO this is just a sub-problem of the overall communication concept.
The whole concept is that "everything you need to know" vs. "everything most people will want to know" and "everything there is to know" is not really different.
Important information is spread across launcher, dev tracker, facebook, twitter and hour long video streams.

It is definitely *good* to bring people to the forums, but it shouldn't be in a way that "if you want info, look for it, but we don't really care if you do" or "we got information, but it is not really worth showing". It should be "look, we've got this, if you want to know more, read here".

In another game I play the launcher window *is* something like the beacon plus service information.

Basically, they are moaning that the notification isnt where they want it to be, so they have to expend valuable energy and extra wear and tear on their mouse to find it.

Much like the people who spend 5 minutes typing out a stupid question that could be answered in seconds by searching Google, Bing, Yahoo or DuckDuckGo; post it, wait days for an answer, then moan when people point them to Google, Bing, Yahoo or DuckDuckGo for the answer.

Then blame it all on SSG for not telling them they needed a computer to play the game, or electricity to power the computer, or an internet connection etc.

most ppl logging in don't seem to see the launcher window, and have to ask what x is doing on, or how long y is in the game for.

the beacon is, essentially, a newsletter - if you want it, look for it, or perhaps subscribe to it if possible, but many companies don't put their newsletters on their front page, because honestly, if ppl want it they will look for it.

in fairness the launcher COULD do with an overhaul. but imho, the beacon being forum based rather than launcher based isn't an issue, and anyone who logs into the game gets the free code given to them by any one of the people who have gone out of their way to look for it, when they ask for it.

My launcher shows newsletter 108 and 111 as well as 8 random information pieces that are spread somewhen between July 2018 and today, e.g. Mordor -20% sales from September.
The OP showed a direct copy from the launcher that did not include any newsletter at all.

2 weeks ago their newsletter aka beacon was on the sign in screen and then since last thursday it was off along with every other posting of said
if it was planned or not, it has happened here and since issues i have had before on other things, also were issues others had then i doubt im the only one
if it was planned then just simply put a message saying "we arent using sign in screen anymore for beacon messages" or if it isnt then clearly there is a issue to be aware of

this game doesnt get new people anymore, when there is some level 11 hunter its nothing but someone alt. new players are a long gone fact in this game. i once spent quite abit, to the tune of many lotro cards, but clearly those that made that idea reality were gotten rid of and the cards with them. lotro hasnt gotten a red penny from me in years. i just now first hand observe the downfall of a once great game because someone has to bear witness.
when i happen across anymore problems, its not like its going to cost me any money. ill just let them continue.

Companies that want to sell their products should usually act differently. The newsletter is not a warranty form, but marketing.

The Launcher has not reliably displayed much for players outside of the USA for as long as I have been playing; we would get some, but US players used to see a lot more than the rest of the world; however no one at Turbine/SSG could figure out why.
Up until the recent major update, my launcher was still showing stuff from January, nothing newer.

Regularly shutdown notices wouldnt appear on our launchers until AFTER the servers had reopened, if at all.

Thanks, that probably explains some of it, but I only started adding the skip raw data script 2 years ago, and the launcher news issue was going on for years before that (I was playing the game long before I ever created a forum account).

I spoke to one of your predecessors about it, and he couldnt get an answer from the devs about why all the US players seemed to be getting shutdown notices in the launcher, while many of us outside the US rarely got them at all; complaints would be answered with, "Well we put it up on FB/Twitter".

The shutdown notices seem to be coming up more often now, but as mentioned, the newsletter announcements have become irregular instead.

If the launcher would only download the screens for the users default language, many of us would probably be OK with a short delay, but waiting while all the other languages are also downloaded - when you are NEVER going to see them - is a bit galling.

I have looked back through the launchers on 2 of my PCs where LOTRO is loaded, neither has a single mention of the newsletter going back as far as the log file goes - 11th January.

We were away in China for most of December, so whatever happen, happened sometime in December, or the 1st week of January.

The 3rd system hadnt been built at that point (built for daughter b/d on 21st Jan), and the 4th was used briefly in China, but hasnt been used or updated since, so I am not sure whatever they show will be of any use.
